  1. I believe that you are not portraying the debate accurately. Those who question Willy's value are not a lynch mob- the question is any backup quarterback worth $400,000 per year, and could that money be best used to strengthen the team elsewhere?
  2. That is an assumption that Willy is better than a .200 quarterback with his teammates still having some confidence in him. If we can't get better than .250 with Davis or Bennett, we should be bringing QB prospects in.
  3. Could be the Wright choice for the Stampeders.
  4. LaFrance has looked...OK but the sample size is way too small.
  5. I was expecting to see a large mushroom-shaped cloud rising from the Hamilton sidelines before halftime, but Austin seems to have narrowly averted a meltdown.
  6. Its hard to distinguish between loss of confidence and outright fear. I presume that the Bombers would have sent him to chat with a sports psychologist, but that only works for about a third of people.
  7. Great work, Mr. Dee. Keep it up- please!
  8. Not many are saying Willy is worthless, at least not yet, but he is dramatically overpaid for a backup, and his on-field performance is not the only issue. The team sure as heck seems to have quit on him. Nichols played well, yes, but when he came in, suddenly the whole team was galvanized. With Willy behind center, the team played as if they expected to lose. We can complain all we like, but it really means nothing. If the team has lost confidence in Willy, he is done for.
  9. Kobe Bryant, Muhammed Ali, Brett Favre etc etc would provide proof to the contrary. Talent and class seem to be completely different things.
  10. As one guy put it, "I'm not gay, but twenty bucks..."
  11. Didn't even know they were dating.
  12. We are probably going to see Willy on the field again before the end of the season, and we ought to pray it will not be as a starter. Nichols has earned the right to be the starter but he is going to have a bad game or two.
  13. But a darned good whiner who would be welcomed here in place of Willy.
  14. The honeymoon with Nichols is great, but we are not going to win every game from here on in and there are weaknesses in the team which will cost us a few games to come. Moreover, as far as every player on the team is concerned, there is a cost/benefit ratio. We have had things go our way for a couple of games under Nichols, but the breaks are not always going to go our way and we have to be realistic. Willy's salary is a big debit on the books and sooner or later, Walters has to look at Willy and ask whether he is worth $22,222.00 per game to hold the clip board. If Walters and O'Shea can get the same degree of performance out of Davis and/or Bennett as they are getting from Willy, they have to look at that.
  15. If the team under Nichols continues this level of play, the Bombers are a .500 team. With Willy at the helm, we were/are looking at 4 and 14 or at best, 6 and 12. If Davis or Bennett cannot match that, why are we keeping them?
  16. Lets hope the choice is not a Foketi up.
  17. And if you do not think you are among the best, then you probably aren't. Egos drive success, like it or not.
  18. Hard to argue that Burris is not a very good player, but he has either been a victim of fate or he just doesn't have that something which makes him a great one.
  19. Doesn't it come down to who is the second-best QB on the roster? Willy's stock has fallen dramatically but O'Shea being who he is, I cannot see him voluntarily letting Willy go. It may not be his decision, though and Walters may see a much better use for the remainder of his $400,000 to strengthen the team- to sign Muamba for instance. Willy has had his chance to claim the starter's role and has failed. Maybe Davis or Bennett is no worse or close to being as good.
  20. Ottawa is the best-balanced, best coached team in the league with darned few weaknesses. Big edge to the RedBlacks.
  21. But its also what many of the realists here said after the game. It was an exhilarating, desperately needed win, but not without its flaws, and darned few winning teams can say that they played a flawless game which needed no improvements anywhere. I hope that neither the players nor the coaches think they can rest on their laurels. Tomorrow is another day and another game is looming.
  22. By no means are we assured of making the playoffs and so long as we get darned close to it without being blown out every second game, I can live with that. Solidifying the quarterback position is the priority, and I still am not confident O'Shea is the right coach.
  23. Wally must be ready to give his first-born for a good kicker by now.
  24. Whats a decimal point between friends?
  25. Unless that sort of "lets play safe" attitude comes back to bite them in the butt against a better team.
