  1. I agree with most of what you have posted, disagree with the too-nice part describing O'Shea and Hall. Football, like other sports has a business side to it that is harsh sometimes but necessary. We have had more than one coach here who kept players past their "best before" date, and they and the team, not to mention the fans, suffered for it.
  2. Overall, there are a couple of concerns for me: firstly, as was mentioned by another poster, O'Shea seems to be more disposed to keeping veteran players instead of opting for newcomers who have shown equally well or better. Secondly, I hope this does not extend to his choice of starting quarterbacks. Case in point is Willy's tenure here- almost unanimously this forum knew way before his trade that Willy was damaged beyond repair, yet O'Shea kept trotting him out. That did not serve either Willy nor the team well.
  3. Riderfans website.
  4. Apparently Jones in Regina has already announced that Bridge will be the starter in the first game. Way to boost Collaros' confidence, Jonesie.
  5. While we are waiting for Nichols to leave sick bay, Ross, Bennett and Streveler will get a lot better. At that time, the whole roster will have to be reevaluated.
  6. I would expect Ross to start against the Esks, but on a short leash.
  7. It was notable that Ross was better than he looked in the previous game, Bennett looks like he could step in if needed, Streveler was not as good as he looked as in the previous game, and probably not as bad as he looked last night. Simonise was mostly invisible, and I expected better from him. Still, I'm not sure how often he was thrown to. Overall, some prospects played themselves out of jobs, and that's what the coaches wanted to settle. Sunday will be interesting
  8. All things considered, not a bad half of football for our side.
  9. Bonus points for Peterman on that play!
  10. Bennett hasn;t set the team on fire, but he has looked respectable.
  11. He will develop a sudden, mysterious and lingering injury.
  12. Lordy, but Rainey is a speed demon.
  13. Lankford is a sprinter who can catch the odd ball. He does not read blocking well enough to be a primo returner.
  14. BC defender got schooled there.
  15. Bennett not helping his cause. Last pass was way underthrown.
  16. Simonise alert!!
  17. Ross much better, O-line weak at best, Peterman a starter, Wolitarsky okay,
  18. There's too much history in Winnipeg for Glenn to come back and be successful. Not sure if Adams is the answer, but a better option than Glenn.
  19. Realistically, if we are .500 when Nichols returns, that can be considered a triumph.
  20. Gotta watch that #32 kick returner for BC- I hear he has a helluva temper if someone messes with his dog.
  21. Slim pickings out there, but he may be the best available option, depending on the price.
  22. What would O'Shea be expected to say." We are now into borderline fecal incontinence when we look at our backup quarterback prospects but we have no viable options."?
  23. A medial meniscus tear is also called a "plant and pivot" injury and can occur from what seemed to be an innocuous step- I've had one myself. The prognosis is generally favourable and is often treated with laproscopic procedures. The knee is okay and then suddenly a lance of pain followed by weakness.
  24. Agreed. In the end, the result is what matters.
