  1. Maier wasn't ready to step in, but Mitchell was? Huh. Well, if Maier had played, he could have caused the Stamps to lose the game, but everyone and their dog knew that Mitchell sure as spit wasn't going to win.
  2. I think we should not get excited if the Riders are still in the game at the end of the first quarter. The record of our team this year and 2019 is that they get stronger as the game goes on. It will probably take a few plays to figure out the soft spots in the Rider defence and offensive blocking schemes- then its open season. I do not wish ill for anyone, but if Fajardo gets laid out a couple of times, I will live with that.
  3. The history of fanatical groups tells us that no matter how much incontrovertible proof there is that gainsays their belief system, they will not change. They will simply deny the validity of the evidence, attack the bearer of the news or ascribe the information to an hostile, malevolent entity- Satan, a pedophile ring, commies or whoever.
  4. How do you know there will not be a sequel?
  5. Omicron Coronavirus Variant Found In The U.S. A person in California has the nation’s first confirmed case of the new omicron coronavirus variant, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Wednesday. The unidentified individual was a traveler who returned from South Africa to the U.S. on Nov. 22. The case was confirmed by the California and San Francisco departments of public health, the CDC said. “The individual, who was fully vaccinated and had mild symptoms that are improving, is self-quarantining and has been since testing positive. All close contacts have been contacted and have tested negative,” the CDC said in a statement. In related news, Mark Meadows, Trump's fourth and final chief of staff, has decided to cooperate with the committee investigating the January 6th insurrection. He has disclosed ongoing contact between the White House and the rioters prior to and during the insurrection, but of note, he reported that Trump had been diagnosed with COVID three days prior to the debate with Biden and met with Gold Star families as well, probably infecting many. -Pfizer has reported that initial testing indicates that their vaccines are only a little less effective against the Omicron variant than the current ones (90% vs 95%). -Initial reports from hospital treating the Omicron variant state that, although it is more easily transmitted, it appears that it produces no more than the symptoms of a mild influenza infection. So far, its impact on those with compromised immune systems is unknown,
  6. I'm hoping you will be disappointed.

  8. Goin' for the record! America wins another record!
  9. It is a privilege denied to many.
  10. Sounds like things are back to the Barrett-Shivers era, and we know how that ended.
  11. After that shitshow last weekend, I gotta go with the Argos. Prior to that, I would have given the TiCats at least even money, but that staggering show of incompetence spoke volumes.
  12. Whistling past the graveyard.
  13. I was speaking to a former colleague at Boundary Trails Health Center in Winkler and things are getting dire there. Doctors are receiving threats and death threats almost daily, their cars are being vandalized and the fear among staff there is such that the doctors have been told to not mention or recommend vaccination to patients, Many staff there are looking to leave as soon as they can, fearing that a violent incident is inevitable.
  14. Too bad the viewers couldn't see a real football game..
  15. Some doctors in the US have lost their licences to practice for spreading this kind of nonsense. You may recall that this idiot was reported as both abusing alcohol and offering psychotropic drugs to anyone who wanted them while Trump's doctor.
  16. And there are so many non-invasive therapies now that respond to mental health challenges when allopathic treatments fail. In the CBC archives, there is a program where a TRD (treatment-resistant depression) sufferer responded wonderfully well to a course of oral ketamine.
  17. With new Omicron variant looming, Republicans are now bribing people to avoid vaccination-Republicans move beyond just spreading anti-vaccine conspiracy theories to paying people not to vaccinate Little is known at this point about the Omicron variant of COVID-19 that is causing worldwide panic and last week's stock market crash — except that it's a reminder of the importance of people getting vaccinated. Vaccination can help prevent such variants from evolving in the first place, and vaccinated people are probably still much safer than unvaccinated people in the face of the variant. As President Joe Biden's office told the press, his top infectious disease advisor, Dr. Anthony Fauci "continues to believe that existing vaccines are likely to provide a degree of protection against severe cases of Covid." Vaccines save lives and are the best path forward to ending the pandemic and returning to normal. Despite this — or really, because of this — Republicans not only continue to sabotage efforts by the Biden administration to get the public vaccinated, but are doubling down on the sabotage. As Axios reported Monday morning, the concerted efforts to keep shots from going in arms have escalated in red states, with Republican politicians now openly bribing constituents not to get vaccinated. "Republican officials around the country are testing a creative mechanism to build loyalty with unvaccinated Americans while undermining Biden administration mandates: unemployment benefits," the short piece explains. "Florida, Iowa, Kansas and Tennessee have changed their unemployment insurance rules to allow workers who are fired or quit over vaccine mandates to receive benefits." Since early spring, a number of commentators — including myself — have been pointing out that Republican politicians and media are deliberately undermining Biden's pandemic response by convincing their base to reject the vaccines. The reason isn't particularly mysterious. Republicans understand that if death rates remain high, the economic recovery remains stagnant, and unpleasant mitigation measures like mask mandates and school shutdowns continue into 2022, a pandemic-weary public is going to start blaming the guy in charge for not doing more to fix the situation. 19. Embarrassingly bad for the CFL- the worst semi-final performances I can recall- the Stamps-Riders game was so bad, I turned it off at half-time and tried to watch it this morning- still as bad. Cringingly bad.
  20. This is what happens when you can be on the other side of the world in 10 hours.
