  1. Well, times change.  What was once a source of Southern pride is now a racist symbol.  You can argue it is because of the PC crowd but, but with a view of the flag in modern context, I don't see how it can't be viewed as anything but racist.

Similar to the team name of my favourite NFL team - Washington Redskins.  In today's society that name won't fly, it's time to change it.

As a society we hopefully advance and learn to change things that need to be changed instead of clinging to potentially harmful "traditions".

  2.

Tait says lots of buzz about the Bombers dealing #11 + #15 for another Top 10, in order to make sure they get Demski and a quality OL....

I'm betting that Edmonton might take that. Edmonton only have 5 picks for this draft.

If we come out of this draft with Groulx and Demski, it would be my dream come true.

  3. Don't recall so much attention to Canadian players in the NFL scouting before. It's disheartening to see so many potential CFL stars being sucked up- I suspect that if Doug Brown was coming into the draft now, we would never see him in a CFL jersey.

You never know how many would stick.  Just a few weeks a ago Boyko was thought to be a lock to be a mid to late round pick at OT.  He's now ranked BELOW a 7rd_FA prospect at GUARD on cbssports.com

If he is signed as an FA by an NFL team he may not last long.  Definitely in play this CFL draft, IMO.  However, your point is well taken - certainly more interest in Canadian prospects than in past years.

What's with the Troy Stoudermire stuff? Did he win some sort of contest?

Trust me on this, you really don't want to know.
Have a close look at his Twitter picture, then try not to pull a Mike, by running straight to the washroom, with pic in hand

Gonna be a clean up soon.

  5. Well we knew the Riders were going to sign players at one point because they can't scout and are quite a bit short of a full roster. Just glad most of the signing are there own fringe players and other teams castoffs. Glad they didn't use the money to improve their club. Hall (if he can re-adapt to the CFL game) replaces Foley so that's a wash, and Emry was about as good as Kilgore last year. Despite some trumpeting by Rider fans today, I fail to see the improvement. Imo, they have done nothing to make themselves a better club thus far this offseason.

Meh, I'd say moving from Foley and Kilgore (or whoever they had at MLB) to Emry and Hall is a big upgrade.

Other than that, they've retained depth similar to what we've brought in because we didn't have it in the first place.

Let's see how things keep unfolding, though.

The biggest changes the riders had to make IMO were on the coaching staff and scouting dept. Those are the changes that the fans are excited about. The riders have a pretty good team already, there weren't a lot of moves that had to be made.
I agree. Gonna be a dog fight in the west this year.
  6. As much as I love seeing Toronto lose... the last thing I wanna see is them fall so far they cease to exist... that sale needs to happen ASAP... get that team some stability...

Agreed. The CFL needs a strong Toronto franchise. Hopefully get them out of the Dome and onto to BMO field. Maybe Torontoians will now realize the city isn't NFL material after the Bills cancelled their Toronto dates, and actually embrace their CFL team.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have confirmed they’ll be making 7 roster changes for Saturday Afternoon’s regular season finale in Calgary, and 3 of those new faces will be along the Defensive Line. Activated for the 3 p.m. kickoff at McMahon Stadium are DE Marvin Booker and DT’s Glen Hickman and Deantre Harlan.

DB Demond Washington will also be returning after missing last weekend’s game with BC. WR Jerrell Jackson and RB Cameron Marshall will also make their Blue Bomber and CFL debuts while WR Brett Carter has also been activated from the Practice Roster.

Sitting out the season finale will be the trio of banged up D Linemen Bryant Turner Junior, Greg Peach, and Jason Vega. Returner Troy Stoudermire and Slotback Aaron Kelly have also been placed on IR while DB Donovan Alexander has been deactivated and LB Will Smith has been released.

The 680 CJOB Broadcast Team of Bob Irving, Bomber Hall of Fame Defensive Lineman Doug Brown, and reigning CFL Reporter of the Year Kirk Penton will have more on the Pre Game show starting at 1 p.m. Saturday Afternoon from McMahon Stadium.

I'll be interested to see if Marshall gets some carries.   Excited to see what he can do, if so.

Any Jets fans here? What MOS does in his Press Conferences is what Paul Maurice does in his, He gives you a vague answer, because and like Maurice said to the media a few weeks ago, you don't need to know everything that is going on in the room. Honestly, Sometimes things are better left in the room. As fans, for some reason we seem to think we need to know it all, and if they aren't telling us everything, then they are lying or bs'ing us. But that's not the case, we need to remember what we are, fans, fanatics, we don't need to know it all, we only get little snippets and nuggets every now and then, can read in to those nuggets all we want and i suppose this is part of what this forum is really all about.

For example, MOS in his PC on the official site when asked about wilson and jackson, said wilson played ok but would like to see Wilson play the slot position, why wasn't he play the slot position? is there a disconnect between what MOS wants and what MB is doing? There might just be, that's what this forum is for.. to discuss issues relating to the football club, i don't really think many people honestly care what MOS tells the media cuz i think for the most part, we all understand that we aren't getting the entire story ,we aren't getting the full truth, we are getting vague answers, and that's all we really deserve and need to know. Is it the right approach? It depends who you ask but i do notice that for the most part, if you watch other PC's from other coaches, they all say generally the same thing, they answer the questions really in riddles, very vague generic responses.. If you really break it down, you can probably, if you have the time, break it down and come up with several different commonly used phrases or "quotes" that every coach from every team uses.

In hockey, it's generally "we just need to play our system" "we just came out a bit slow today" "we just need to be ready to compete at the start of the game" "we need to play harder" "we need to execute better". The general vague answers, Same with football, every coach in every PC gives the same answer pretty much, the coaches who come out and throw people under the bus in the media, they don't last too long these days it appears.

As fans we need to remember that what goes on in the dressing room, as much as maybe some want to believe it's our business, it's really NOT at all.

You know what would shock me? If MOS or a coach in football came out and said 'we suck, we deserved to lose, we have no talent, playoffs? hell we couldn't even bit a pee wee team, our oline? please? they suck, our qb sucked tonight too, our D couldn't stop ****, we suck, we had no chance and i knew it all along, jesus christ why did i take this god forsaken job even, what was i thinking, our talent is crap, we suck, awful... rrrrrrrrrrraaahhhhhbbbbllleeee rahhhhhhhbbbbllleee... That would shock the crap out of me cuz you just don't see that this day and age anymore.

This old school mentality that we as fans deserve to know everything going on in the locker room and deserve to know all the answers, it needs to stop cuz it ain't going back to that, was it ever really like that to begin with even? i suppose in some sports more than others... but what you see now a days, is the guys who are hot heads in the media and call out their players all the time(john torterella comes to mind in hockey), they really don't last that long. Players tune them out.

What a coach says to the media isn't what he is telling the players behind closed doors. You can bet your ass that MOS has reemed out a few players behind closed doors, bet on it, but why would he do in public? to appease like 20  fans on a message board? nope. Like Paul Maurice said a few weeks ago.. "i could make you ******* cry in that dressing room".

I really think what it comes down to is that a lot of fans want to see the coaches and players as angry as they themselves are after losses.

Exactly.  I want cooler heads than me running this team.
