  1. That's basically all I'm trying to suggest. That it was more or less a bonus of staying in Winnipeg. Another source of income which was, at least in part, setup by the team to make it more lucrative to stay.
  2. Not suggesting they are spending over the cap. Just that they might be using corporate partnerships to supplement the money going to the player. Basically that Bighill will get whatever amount of dollars, but it is split between the team and the investment firm.
  3. Love the move, but pairing the announcement with announcing Bighill will be working as an investment advisor on the side seems strange. Open flaunting they found a way around the cap? Slap in the face to talk about not being able to find work in Regina in the off season? Agreement with the investment firm that it would be included in the press release?
  4. Yes! I love those special column-esque threads. Really adds to the site and makes it seems more like a community. Plus you know what you're getting when you click on them more or less, so if for some reason you don't like it, they are easy to ignore. Is it possible to pin posts within a thread? Having a game week thread with the depth chart pinned would be great for example.
  5. Kinda wish the Bombers didn't say they aren't exploring that option at this time. Would have liked to get a direct quote from Durant saying he's interested and the Bombers to emphatically reject it. As a bonus, perhaps then we would have more of a legal case as it would be Durant saying he would come back.
  6. Looking at that list I think you have to wonder who is in for big raises. We already fit under the cap (I'm assuming) with them this year, so its more about whether their salaries will increase next year. My initial thoughts: Around same $$: Bryant, Feoli-Gudino, Normand, LeFevour, Randle, Hurl, Nevis, Increase: Hardrick, Bond, Foketi, Spooner, Flanders, Heath, Westerman, Knox, Fogg, Jones, Decrease: Neufeld, Dressler, Denmark, Wild, Medlock These are just my guesses what their price tag would be, not knowing anything about their current contracts. Whether I'm right or wrong, I'm sure there are some guys who will be able to fit back in with close to their current salaries, nothing added to the payroll. Some will be allowed to walk too to make room for guys who should come back and are worth a raise.
  7. Glad that Wild hit was posted. I actually forgot it and it was one of my favourite memories of the O'Shea era. Love how Wild reacted and then it shows O'Shea all happy and applauding then cuts back to an injury lol
  8. I've got a feeling Lapo has some things up his sleeve too. Question is whether he has a QB that can orchestrate it and the weapons at his disposal. Adams back would be huge, but at least we got our dynamic duo for RBs
  9. Wasn't there rumours that Westerman may be able to make it back in the playoffs? Although apparently he had surgery? Maybe I shouldn't bring the subject up, I'll be put on the CSIS watchlist for questioning this state secret.
  10. We do quite a lot of rotation along the line. Many times in passing situations we have at least 3 ends playing, maybe even 4, but don't quote me on that. I'm still expecting and hoping Corney develops into a solid starting end himself.
  11. Going to the game with friends. First Bomber game at the new stadium (went to a Rifles game before). Haven't watched a live game since I moved away after "their final season" at the old stadium. Taking a bunch of friends who have never been to a Bomber game period, so hope they put on a good show and convert some of them.
  12. Missed the game last night, anywhere I can watch it online?
  13. I like JFG, probably more than Coates, but love the message being sent that working hard at practice can get you a starting spot. Don't think Coates has looked out of place this year. JFG has done a good job too, but this might also rest him or cause him to step up his game when he's back in.
  14. Thanks for the clarification. This makes more sense to me then. I thought the taxi squad applied to home games as well.
  15. But they don't have to declare who those 2 are until later, correct? I'm just saying there's still a chance another lineman goes down in that time. I'd hate to see one of Bond or Hardrick pressed into service when they're not healthy. Or Thomas or whoever would pinch in.
  16. I'd rather just have to option to play someone instead of a guy who is injured. Just wouldn't want another lineman to go down without a healthy option to replace. If the deal is to get those guys their cheque, then can't we put one on the 1-game IR? Plus Spooner showed loyalty by staying with us earlier in the year, be nice to get him a game cheque too.
  17. It has to be 2 americans? That doesn't make sense to me. If Spooner goes in directly to replace Bond, then I'm not sure why his nationality would count against him.
  18. If they are sure Bond and Hardrick are out, why wouldn't they take them off the roster and add Spooner or something? Wouldn't he be able to play if something happens between now and game time to one of our other linemen?
  19. I disagree. I'd love to see someone take over for Hurl for a game. He's being defended as doing a good job of filling his role, but if someone else comes in for a game and can make a difference we know that its bullshit.
  20. Nice to see Thomas Miles making an impact on 2 plays today. Stuffing that TD was nice. Briggs seems to go on for Hurl on passing downs a lot, but maybe Miles could start spelling Hurl more often.
  21. Moe's my favourite player on the team. Both on field and off field reasons for that. I've argued that he's the best linebacker in the league, maybe even best defensive player. He doesn't just come up with big plays stats wise, he's just very good at everything. Makes important tackles, covers well and of course the flashy stats above, usually at key times. He's about as clutch as they come and an incredibly classy guy as well. For those who haven't heard it, listen to his interview on CFL:60 from Sept. 19. He used to be homeless, now lives in Winnipeg year round and volunteers his time frequently.
