  1. Let Walters walk. I honestly would rather have O'shea retained and have a different GM with an ability to find Americans. O'shea has his hands tied with MB and our QB situation. It's coach killing, but really it should be GM killing. Get me Murphy and Thorpe. I would even be happy to have some guys that are dinks like Jones from Edmonton or Tillman; at least they're winners.

  2. I only watched the first quarter so I have to watch the rest of the game. Like the score and happy Nichols got us a win but then again these are (still) the worst two teams the CFL and from DoD's description it's pretty obvious why (with five TO's in the first half the bombers should have been out of it and would have been if it were any other team than SK).

    All I know is....

8 to 2 with McDavid only getting two points over the Canucks

6 to 3 with McDavid not playing against the Flames (who beat the Jets on Friday)

Would be nice to see an Oiler rookie sweep by hammering the Jets on Monday with McDavid having a 6 point game. Oh wait, this if football..... meh just can't get into it. Maybe if the Bombers can win another two in a row, I'll start paying more attention again

Wait, what?.. so you live in Edmonton and are a Bomber fan that wants the oilers to beat the jets?? Why would you even bother making a post like this on a Winnipeg site then? I'm confused.

Then suffer with O'Shea and the status quo and quit complaining. He's the only qualified candidate available right now and is 10 times the HC O'Shea will ever be.

I'll take Richie Hall over both of them - and I know that Hall did a terrible job in Edmonton.

Hmmm. Trying to think of his Edmonton tenure. I think Hall would be a great candidate for interim HC. He can still control the defense, and maybe he will start making changes on the roster finally.

I  actually think Hall may have benefited from his time as HC in Edmonton and potentially could be a good HC. But what I don't want to happen is promote him, not perform the exhaustive search they should in the off season and have him hand off the reigns to his defensive coordinator and have it collapse as soon as it looks like we have a D that has signs of coming around.

It's getting hard to defend O'shea, but I still have the belief that he could grow into a good HC if he's surrounded by experienced coordinators. I want O'shea to be given his third year and Hall kept so he can keep adding the building blocks of his D. Hire an experienced OC next year that can come in that can win now - someone like Berry. We're lacking experience, accountability and leadership everywhere. Minimal experience and success at the HC position, qb position (sorry Willy) and MLB position. Luckily for us Westerman is stepping up into the leadership role on D. We need experience and leadership on O, on the field and in the booth.

  4. Doug asked Osh if there is some sort of mechanism to correct the penalties and Osh wouldn't even acknowledge the question and just kept saying, "I'm not getting into it, Doug." Doug then asked if he was happy with the offense and Brohm's performance and basically said, "wasn't good enough in the first half".

That was basically it. You missed nothing if you didn't listen to it. Osh is in over his head, man. I didn't want to believe it, but it's just becoming more and more clear.

Thanks GBill for sharing and going to practice so often....

It is a service we do appreciate. Will be noted in the voting later this year...

Yeah, practice updates are basically the only reason I lurk here. Thanks, gbill, you're becoming my favourite poster. I'm giving you a hundred million internet dollars.

Watch the Washington pick Westerman was right in Lulays face. The Adams one he flushed out of the pocket and tried to force on in to the sideline.

But after way too many steamboats. That play had way too much time to materialize, which put the DB/safety in a bind. BC a few times ran a three man attack on us and they get a sack.

Lulay's a mobile QB who moves around a lot. Lulay, for the most part, had time to go threw his reads last night, at least that's what I saw. I yelled at the TV a lot because of that.

All I'm saying is out of all the areas needed to improve our defense, as this is a passing league, that would be my number one, because everything else dominoes from there. I think the commentators mentioned last night we're eighth in passes completed against.

    You must count fast.

They know that BC is going downfield with the ball, so priority one is to hold the rush lanes so Lulay can't slip out and run for 20 yards because the LB's and DB's will be clearing out in coverage, then get pressure upfield.

Gibson was in the backfield all night and the refs probably could have called BC's tackles for a dozen holds on him.  I believe they called about 5 on Gibson, many were declined.  Thomas was a monster against the run, but crashing into the pocket too.  Nobody can block Collins and it's clear that he's picking up how to play the yard of the ball and the wider gaps.  Johnson played all over the field, end, 3 technique and linebacker.  If our DL plays like that every game the defense won't be giving up many points and will probably be scoring some, or at least turning the ball over so our offence can score easily.

Is this a start of a new era on our d-line? Turner and Peach aren't being missed by me.

Toronto isn't a cfl town. Population isn't the issue. It is perceived as an inferior good.

I get the feeling they don't really care about anything else other than the Leafs down there. The Leafs seemingly are the only team there with a consistently good attendance, even when they suck.

EDIT: Oh, and the Blue Jays obviously.

Blue Jays don't have good attendance when they suck.

Not spectacular, but absolutely better than the Argos. Jays are still very popular.

Hey Durresler just curios as you live in St. John. Do you see people in CFL gear or out at bars watching games or anything? My girlfriend moved to WPG from Nova Scotia and she says there's not much interest in the CFL out east. Is that true from what you've seen?

The only official concussion Pierce had with the Bombers it seems was in 2012, but that's wikipedia so take it for what it's worth ...

He's had 3 documented concussions in the CFL plus one in college. But the article I read suggested he's had many more.

    http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Football/CFL/Winnipeg/2012/10/01/20247596.html

This article from 2012 says anywhere from 2-6 concussions since College.  10 seems high.  4-6 is likely.  May have had more or less depending what they consider a concussion.  And in his playing days when they didn't really care much about them he could have had more!

You would think with Buck being a coach for us now he would be one of the guys helping out in determining if Willy is A-OK to play.  I think he may know a thing or 2....or 6 about these types of things :)

10 would be about one a year throughout his pro and college days. It's unlikely, but I bet in his time as a Bomber he had about 5 so who knows lol
