  1. Too lazy to read the whole thread. So who do we think should start next week? :-)

A "we want Marve!" chant last night says it all I think. Is Brohm Bellefeuille's Boltus 2.0? I think so. I can't really understand how anyone could possibly defend Brohm's performace last night, he just has no tools whatsoever it seems like.

If Marve has first team reps this week and playcalls are designed to his strengths he may definitely surprise. The QBs have to be put on the field to show their worth, look at Cato tonight. He's killing it in Calgary. There's nothing worse than watching CFL coach stubbornness who go with their guys through thick and thin no matter how poorly they perform.

  2. Pros: Drew willy controlling the huddle and the clock. Using his outlets brilliantly. When Drew is calm and doesn't force throws he is a great QB. Cotton and Marshall look like the Thunder and Lightning we were hearing about before the season. Denmark held on to two big plays while taking big licks. Moore's first TD as a bomber too. Woop! O-line gave Willy time to actually think about what he was doing. Didn't particularly notice Chungh at all, but maybe that's a good thing.

Cons: Blitzing was TERRIBLE. Sam Hurl is not very fast. Turner and Anderson had no push up the middle. Westerman was invisible until the end with his shot on Messam. I don't recall getting a sack tonight, or even getting in the QB's grill at all *but maybe someone can correct me on that.

But hey, we won. Every team in the CFL is in developing/gel mode and coming out with a win in Saskatchewan is a HUGE morale boost for the team.

I expect a tough, close and intense game in Saskatchewan. I think our team this year is going to be difficult to play against. I have a feeling that our 3 match-ups against the Riders will be some of our best games on the season, after what happened last year. We might not go 3-0, but I wouldn't be afraid to say that we will go 2-1. MOS will not let the boys forget last season. I cant wait!

I figure it's going to come down to Willy and the performance he puts out. If he hasn't progressed beyond last year you can mark it up as 0-1.

I thought Willy played well in last years LDC.

Bombers lost all 3 games to the R.R. so he didn't play well enough to beat them.

Labour Day Willy played pretty well, trouble was that the D left the game early and gave up a ton late to piss it away. Game one vs. the riders absolutely Willy wasn't good enough. The turnovers killed them. I don't really remember what happened in the Banjo Bowl so I won't comment on that.

I was at the Banjo Bowl. Willy played pretty good. Tossed for over 300+ yards and a couple TDs. But at the end of the game Willy choked and threw a pretty poor interception on the last drive. He was clearly trying to force it and do too much.

Excuse my ignorance but a lot of people say Droopy is too slow at reading the D. Is that something that usually comes quicker with experience?

  4. For me, I expect the opposite of what happened last year to happen this year. I expect a slower start with chemistry slowly progressing as the year goes along.
New o-line, linebackers, a couple of new receivers, all this stuff takes time. I think expectations should always be a home playoff game. Our new management doesn't seem to accept failure as an option, and I don't think anyone is just happy making playoffs. It's piss or get off the pot time.

Expectation: fall a little short of home playoff game, but end 9-9

The last thing we want to see is a three year extension and willy plays like he did the second half of last year.

Disagree. The last thing we want to see is Willy leave for another team and we're back to searching for a qb.

Not if he plays in 2016 like he did for the last half of 2015 you don't.

  6. Let willy play with a chip on his shoulder this year and try earn his big contract. We're getting ahead of ourselves a little bit, just gotta pump the breaks. A deal will get done within a month after the season ends if drew plays like a # 1 QB. The last thing we want to see is a three year extension and willy plays like he did the second half of last year.

  7. Toston wowed me the same way Cotton wowed me in pre-season. I never understood why Toston didn't get more of a chance. He was more of a north/south bruiser but I thought he was the Riders best RB. Toston and Cotton would be a good combo and change of pace that could really help us and keep defences guessing.

Kohlert easily. JFG vs Watson is a much more interesting comparison.

So then you're saying that Kohlert is better than Watson?

I always thought Watson had the highest ceiling of any Canadian receiver we've had in recent years, and always hoped he'd reach 1000 but obviously injuries derailed that. JFG's first year "as a receiver" this year isn't all that different from Kohlert's. JFG made catches in 8 games for 210 yards, and in 2012 Kohlert made catches in 5 games for ~150. I could see (hope) JFG eclipsing 500 yards this year with Kohlert being around 500 again, and if that's the case, I think people around here should be satisfied. I know its not a perfect comparison, but it's not apples to oranges either.
