ALS - What happens if Vernon Adams lights it up?
GCn20 replied to O2L's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Adams is not going to light it up against Calgary, and that's pretty much the only chance he's got. -
ALS - What happens if Vernon Adams lights it up?
GCn20 replied to O2L's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Why go through all the trouble? Because under contract he is tradable to a team desperate for QB help at a King's ransom. He was on their neg list and suddenly became a very important roster management chip even without playing. Hamilton got a fantastic return on him, and that makes him worth the trouble of signing. -
We won the season series against Edmonton last year but you are right about Calgary.
-
You are right that they didn't really beat anyone, teams played down to their level and they took advantage for two wins. However, both games were absolutely horrid football by the Riders. With the cream puff schedule coming out of the gate they needed to capitalize with at the very minimum 3 out of 4 games. With only 6 home games remaining and a long stretch of West games in the back half of the season, even at 2and2 the Riders have painted themselves into the corner. The only West team they may win a game against is BC right now. Collaros is a bust, that quite frankly should probably retire and won't last 2 games when he comes back, and Bridge and Watford are just not good. Couple that with an awful OL and this is going to be a long season. Probably have a lot of close games because of a first rate D but the scores won't be indicative of the non compete level of the team.

You guys should be 1-3. You had no business winning that game last week and defences rarely create win streaks by themselves. Your offence is an abomination. Your team looks exactly like the 2014 Bombers right now. Bridge=Justin Goltz
-
And the Bombers haven't lost to a pitiful Als team or have an offence that is absolutely horrid. Whether or not anyone likes it, the CFL is an offensive driven league. The RIders have not shown they can produce enough offence to win consistently. Defence will win you championships in November, but they won't get you into the playoffs when the weather is good.
-
Not their ultra bad OL or well below average QBing? Sorry but the Riders are right there with the Als as the two teams I would pick least likely to turn it around this season. It's tough to fix a bad OL during the season. I can see the RIders defence winning them a few games that they don't deserve but they will finish well below .500. It's not sustainable to keep your defence on the field as much as both these teams are. They will wear out and injuries will pile up.

Jones coached a great game, but Hamilton playing max pro all game took the heat off the Riders awful secondary and allowed the Riders to contain Masoli. Jones gave everyone a blueprint on how to beat Hamilton but he won't have that luxury against any other teams in the CFL.

" I like the cut of your jib...want a coaching job with the Riders" signed, Chris Jones

Yes....scrap heaping guys like Bighill, Dressler, Darvin Adams...what are we thinking? LOL. Good to see you in good humor about this LG...him not coming back to the Leos has gotta suck for you guys.

Pressley had a very impressive TC with the Vikings in 2016. Highlight reel stuff. If not for some very impressive depth ahead of him he may have made that team. Could be a sleeper pick for surprise of TC.
-
I hope the Bombers hold him on our retired list for as long as possible and never allow him to sign a one day deal to retire a Rider.
-
I'm as critical as anyone when Walters wastes money ala Banks, Stafford....but in this case no reasonable person could ever blame Walters for this.....and to the Rider morons who want to compare this to Bruce Campbell retiring...not the same thing at all. Jones traded for him and then he retired...that's poor due diligence. Campbell never signed a contract with the Riders saying "sure I'll play with you" and then walked away.
-
Durant has likely done more than 70k in damages to his own reputation. Hope it was worth it Darian.
-
After this happened to the Riders a couple years ago, twice, the league recommended that all teams change the phraseology (is that a word) in their contracts from signing bonus to up front payment so that money could be recouped in this event through legal channels. The Riders were able to recoup Campbell's signing bonus but were left high and dry on Price's. Pederson did an article about sometime last year.

Prewitt sounds like a great recruit. If Duane Slay taught me one thing though, it is that what he had done to this point means nothing until he actually shows it on the field. Every year we have a couple "can't miss" prospects that are among the first cuts in camp.
-
Yea...other teams have problems too. That should only serve as a silver lining though. I could care less what problems other teams have. The Bombers only focus, and I'm sure it is, is the problems the Bombers have right now. While I agree that March may be a little early for hand wringing it is also after FA, and the majority of other teams releases have been done. The window for improving our ratio and ratio flex is very narrow now. There are still a couple good options, but man losing Westerman hurt. It's repairable, and certainly not a death blow to our club if we do not have 2 NAT defensive starters.....but it sure would help us because we need to upgrade if we want to be a Grey Cup contender.
-
That's only true if you are an IMP. NATs get no such tax break unless they are living in the US as a dual citizen. The purpose of the signing bonus for a NAT is for job security. Once paid the signing bonus it makes a last minute change in direction by the club far less likely. With no signing bonus a team can sign you to a big contract, and then decide in TC to go in a different direction and you're left searching for employment with everyone's cap space used up. I know that sounds unlikely but if it weren't for signing bonuses it would likely happen with far more regularity when someone comes out of the blue in camp and you have no dollars tied up in a high priced vet yet,

Hurl's first contract with us was 120k + 1k per game played for a max 138k. When he re-signed last year it was reported he accepted a slight raise after checking out FA. Therefore, he was likely making in the 140-150k range last year. At any rate, it is highly unlikely he took a 60k shave last year.

If only they were as smart as Cartman.

Makes total sense. I did not know that but it explains a lot. If Reynolds, as he mentioned on a radio interview a couple months ago, sticks to his plan of more online interaction with the fan base and the team launches it's own forum the defections from Riderfans will be en masse to get away from their moderators. CRF better clean up his act before then or he will have the Riders equivalent of OurBombers on his hands. He already downgraded that site big time after he was too cheap to back up his site and it completely vanished only to be brought back in a substandard way.
-
Yea...the best one this week is that some maroon suggested that Sam Hurl is barely a drop off to Muamba. That in itself is normal on any forum, one fan making an outlandish statement. However, about 3/4 of the people who responded to that agreed with him.

When the moderators and their lackeys can't shout you down when you question Rider moves they go to plan B...banning.
