  1. Pre-Ryan RIgmaiden, I'd have said sign at least 2 high profile receivers in FA. However, with what he has unearthed for us last year, I have complete confidence he has another couple of great receiver recruits coming for camp this year. In BC he demonstrated a fantastic ability to find good receivers and after getting his feet wet here he is starting to exponentially raise the bar on our receiving recruits. I say leave it to Rigmaiden. Lawler and Bailey both look like keepers and are CFL experienced now, all we really need is one good rookie. Use FA to target the ratio on defence, bolster our DL if need be, and keep our outstanding depth level. That is assuming that Adams returns of course.
  2. ONE of the games in which he cried.
  3. Walters was talking a lot about how we will address ratio on defense next year. I am not sure what he means. Could he be sending smoke signals to high price defensive NAT talent that we may have dollars set aside for that. I wonder?
  4. There is a 7 day window prior to FA where all teams can talk to any pending FA. It's not tampering this year. Any offer must be put forward to the league and is considered binding come FA. All offer sheets will be shared to the teams who currently hold their rights so they have knowledge of any other offers.
  5. No, I freely admit that Collaros has to agree. So do we. We have the option to say let's talk some more if we don't like the deal or go in another direction if that doesn't work out. What were ZC's options really. Toronto had offered him a mostly incentive based contract, Ottawa...who knows? With the one week window in place with offer disclosure I would have been comfortable walking him and Nichols both into that window and seeing what other teams were willing to commit towards them. I think if we do that we still get Collaros at a friendlier structure to his contract. Is it a gamble? Sure it is. No more of a gamble then rolling the dice on Collaros in the first place though.
  6. Is there somewhere to watch or hear this?
  7. Let me rephrase. I am not really too upset about the amount Collaros is earning. I think the signing bonus was absurd and way above what the market rate had already dictated.
  8. Nichols signing bonus in hindsight was definitely a mistake. However, he was at least healthy and without an extensive and staggering concussion history.
  9. That's your justification for a bad contract?
  10. Kyle has done well. Doesn't mean he doesn't screw up on occasion. Collaros is a massive gamble. There is no sugar coating that. This could all very easily blow up in the Bombers face. Hope it doesn't, but the denial of his concussion history in this thread is Riderfanesque, With that history should come a contract negotiation that reflects it....and that didn't happen.
  11. What exactly did he demonstrate? He was like 12/19 for 150 yards or something like that. I like his potential too, but he didn't blow the roof off the joint in preseason by any stretch of the imagination.
  12. Hey Willie J just won us the cup too...let's give him 300k per year, hey Andrew Harris are you up for a bump to 285k....let's reward them all. That's only 50k a year more than Micah got last year and about the same Walker got in Toronto. 50k here, 50k there, who cares.
  13. If you are going to throw BLMs signing bonus out there, maybe you could toss out Masoli and Fajardo's as well. Both are way less than Collaros, without the concussion factor and so were their contracts Hey drink that signing bonus pretty if you want to, but I will remain firmly entrenched it was an over pay. Even you yourself suggested that the Bombers wouldn't give him more than a 100k.
  14. Probably being PC for the sake of Matt Nichols.
  15. Nope didn't cripple us because we were fortunate enough to be able to swing a late season deal for a bonafide starter on a very low contract last year. Are you suggesting we ride our number 2 (likely McGuire) and then trade two draft picks just before the playoffs again. Who will be the QB available this year? We did what we had to do last year and were fortunate enough that circumstance allowed us to find a perfect scenario to do so, but that 225k could have easily crippled us had ZC not been available and at a very friendly salary. Maybe Masoli will be our guy this year to save us from a QB injury with big money sunk into it already.
  16. Or you buy the Jaguar and find out it has a Chevy Cavalier engine under the hood.
  17. This is an unbelievably bad contract. I am gobsmacked. I guess there was a hefty price to pay to lure him away from Toronto after all.
  18. When he's healthy...definitely. I'll be pleasantly surprised if he plays more than 9 games this year though. I'll be happy to eat crow in October if he manages to stay healthy but my head is overruling my heart on this prediction.
  19. You are probably right....but it's what we need. That, or another experienced QB, to come our way. Irving says Strev is going to the NFL....so (vomit) let's hope MBT is available.
  20. I like McGuire's potential but he is just too inexperienced to give us a legit chance of winning consistently when the inevitable happens to Collaros. If it was just a game or two here or there I'd be fine with McGuire, but I honestly believe that ZC will miss at least half the season.
  21. If Streveler goes to the NFL we NEED Nichols as well. Collaros/McGuire is flushing our season down the toilet imo.
  22. Weird...NFL teams usually don't go down that road again and again. Most comments about him were that he has off the charts football skills but has the personality of a dead fish. He's not a locker room cancer but isn't a guy that fits into a locker room real well either.
  23. Also remember we are the first team to move on from him as well.
  24. Yeah...Collaros wouldn't have fared any better in McAdoo's dink and don't offence of 2018. Literally anyone could have played QB for the RIders and gotten beat by us with that game plan.
  25. A porous OL AND his injury history were the main reasons for that disastrous O system that the Riders were pretty much forced to run.
