  1. not really... I think Ham tried it as well but not for long I would only consider the bombers doing it because our NI depth is really terrible across the board, including OL...
  2. That's actually why I picked Coombs... Maybe a bit far-fetched, but he gives us at least the option to start with a line of January-Greaves-Saulsberry-Pencer-Jones The content on our OL looks so bad right now, that I would sacrifice a bit of the run game (although Coombs is no slouch) Picking Coombs give us someone to contribute mainingfully right away while buying us time for Pencer et al to develop Then again, if they pick Goossen, I'm not going to flip out.
  3. Let's just say I believe in CFL... 'flexibility'... I think he ends up in the supplemental draft, I'd offer a 4th round
  4. My mock draft... I think we gamble on Coombs if Lavertu goes to Ottawa or trade our #2 pick Ottawa – Lavertu Winnipeg – Coombs Edmonton – Smith Montreal – Bailey BC - Ainsworth Toronto – Goossen Calgary – Gill Sask - Chin Hamilton – Lue Those top five picks imo are the most ready to step into the CFL. What I would look at in first round (I would trade #2 to BC or Montreal and pick up Coombs/Gill at #4 or 5...) Lavertu Coombs (ratio changer ready to step in... maybe, just maybe, we end up with a 3 import OL and Coombs) Smith/Ainsworth/Gill 3rd round options Jesse Briggs Tore Corrado Kyle Paterson Zac Medeiros Sleeper picks - - not solely picked because they have cool names... but... Tchissakid Player (could be our 3rd round pick depending on film) Doctor Cassama (I think CFL changes their mind about his NI status... could be supplemental) Raye Hartmann Hometown Bias - i like having Wpg guys on the team Thomas Miles Andrew Smith
  5. omg. Doctor Cassama - best football name ever. We need him in the 3rd round.
  6. Bummer - this pretty much ends his career now...
  7. By McCune do you mean Robert McCune or another McCune? And if so when did we sign him?? No one has signed Robert McCune and we aren't interested in him according to reports. Then why is McCune listed between wild and banks? That's why I ask.... You're commenting on a post from two months ago...
  8. Oh cmon, every single coach in this league 'handpicks' players for their system...
  9. A 3-15 world. The same one where Anderson and Jarvis Jones are not locks.
  10. Trotz is a good coach... I just don't want to watch boring hockey.
  11. Dubnyk for a 30+ year old third (fourth) liner and retained salary... I'd say this is the market for Pavelec
  12. Rough guess at the starting lineup so far... 12 import DBs on the roster for 2-3 spots? 5 import OL competing for 1-2 spots? Bold are my 'locks'... everyone else is suggestions Randle-Washington-Alexander-Import-Bucknor/Import Wild/Newman-McRath-Banks (only say Wild is a lock for longsnapping) Griggs-Anderson-Turner-Vega January-Greaves-Morley-Pencer/Neufeld-Jones Urrutia-Moore-Watson-Denmark-Kohlert Willy-Grigsby-Pontbriand Hirihallaju-Renaud
  13. The scary part is that Etch's defence is 'defend the pass, forget the run'... but since his last successful season, the CFl has really changed to feature the run a fair bit more... just hope we have a plan for Cornish.
  14. This is Joe Popp exacting revenge on the Als for hiring Higgins.
  15. Insane! Next you'll suggest that we trade Kane for Moulson and two first round picks. That's not how real life works!!!
  16. Reimer was Toronto's #1 and then they traded for Bernier... St Louis loved Halak/Elliott until Miller was available... etc etc etc What did anyone expect Chevy to say? Pavs was only ever getting bought out on this forum...
  17. Chevy and Maurice tied at the hip now... contracts both expire in 2018...
  18. That was a quick talk with his family...!
  19. Does this mean we get a first round pick in the KHL draft?
  20. Is Burmistrov even a Jet anymore? Might as well start a Buck Pierce thread...
  21. Well it's hard to say, the Oilers would love some more size on their wings and Kane provides that. I don't like the move from an Oilers standpoint in terms of straight up value because I think Eberle is a better player without the attitude question marks, but if they get desperate to add a bit more beef might be something that could come to pass. I actually think that the Oilers would not be in a strong bargaining position on that trade regardless of Eberle's stats... Oilers are a whole team of Eberle's, there's only one Kane (that type of thing...). I think we could get Eberle and an exchange of prospects/picks that are favourable to Winnipeg.
  22. The biggest thing that Willy has going for him (and all our quarterbacks) is that no one refers to Bellefuile as an 'offensive guru' or a 'mad genius'... already lightyears ahead of Reinbold, Kelly and Gary whathisname eras...
  23. Will be interesting to say the least... Everyone seems to be hoping the Kane-Scheifele-Wheeler line works out but then that leaves Buff on the third line and he had some pretty decent chemistry with Wheeler by the end. Unless someone offers something crazy, I think Chevy waits until next year's trade deadline (assuming Evander is still Evander) and trades him either in a sell-off or for a couple key players for a late-season run.
  24. We have five Import OL on the roster... big competition for probably one of our few strong spots with January and Jones
