  1. Tax free money to boot. Probably other incentives like free housing or cArs or whatever. Burni's deal is up after this season and I expect him back in the NHL.
  2. also calling someone "boss" isnt disrespect, but it is something common among a certain ethnic group. Used to bug me when I would be called "boss" but not because I felt disrespected.
  3. I actually agree that the hugging was "no big deal" in and of itself but also should have been flagged because you should not touch an official. Period. To me it came across like he was thanking the ref for making a call go his way which should never be allowed. As for the TD, explain the rule to me. If the ball is in his hands as he crosses the goaline, is it automatically a TD or does he have to have control and survive contact? Because to me, if that play happened anywhere else on the field, it would have been ruled incomplete.
  4. I remember one time I moved, I called SHAW and MTS to get offers from both and they both were quicker to tell me why I didnt want the other than why I wanted them. When SHAW brought in home telephone service, I think MTS was caught with their pants down a bit as they didnt have a counter-offer to all-inclusive package. Instead I was told my security system wouldnt work with SHAW (not true) and that it would be a large fee for a install from scratch to go back. I replied "so if in six months I want to move my service back, you will charge me several hundred dollars?" "Yes." "Then I guess I wont be back". To be fair, MTS vastly improved their customer service in recent years and have tremendous TV service. Everything is going to be over-the-top soon enough. I found SHAW's service somewhat lacking though they usually made the effort to keep me as a customer. There was actually a time when our line into the home was so degraded it required replacement so they gave us a 50% discount for 1.5 years until the work was done. if I was starting from scratch, I'd probably go with MTS as their technical specs seem better. But this sound clip indicates how the big cable companies are living in a bubble. I love HBO but Netflix has made me hate waiting a week for the next episode, just like PVR's made me hate watching anything live (with commercials). I think HBO should leverage their on-demand service and upload their series' all at once like Netflix. They probably dont feel they need to but I'd pay extra for that option.
  5. Jokinen's time as the Preds number one center was shortlived. Nashville signs Derek Roy & Mike Ribeiro. Nashville is either going to surprise people or be a disaster this year.
  6. you know what this means. We're going to lose on Thursday.
  7. Another 5 Star contribution from you. I always love the "this isnt worth my reply" replies.
  8. In a crazy rumour, Hockeybuzz reports Jets are trying to entice Joe Thornton to accept a trade to Winnipeg. its one of those "ofcourse the Jets would have interest in Joe. And ofcourse Joe would not want to come here". At $6.75 M for three more years, it would be an easy deal on the Jets side. I can't imagine why Joe would choose the Jets over "better" teams but I guess you never know. There were strong rumours the Jets and Sharks were talking trade at the deadline so there might be a relationship there. Can't imagine who we'd give up. Assuming San Jose would want a centre, I'd guess Bryan Little. Unless it's a Kane & Buff type deal. The other thing to think about would be, even if Joe came here, its three years before hes UFA. Does management think the Jets can compete strongly within that time frame (assuming Joe takes a huge offer to go anywhere he wants at that point). Obviously, this is a crazy idea. But fun to think about. Considering they reportedly offered Stastny $8 million, Joe would be a bargain.
  9. I recall speculation was Jets wanted Ehlers and had him higher than where they picked him. Jets certainly arent afraid to go with their internal draft board over the "experts". I do agree Nate, that top 5 would have been something different, but they liked Ehlers.
  10. just read a blog by a Coyotes blogger on Hockeybuzz than speculates Kane traded for Yandle. The blogger admits that Yandle is older with a shorter contract but thats a fair trade off for Kane being immature. lol Some people....
  11. I understand not trading to a rival but in a way its silly. its not like we'd be trading Kane for nothing. Chevy gave an interview this afternoon discussing the Kane trade rumours. He defended Kane but flat out would not directly answer "Has Kane requested a trade". And that means YES he has requested a trade. This is now just a matter of time.
  12. Yeah i;d be open to whatever deal. Kane might have a bit more value due to the numbers he's put up compared to ROR but they are the same age (or a year apart, whatever). Kane has the good contract. ROR, unless arbitratiors low ball him, is going to end up making more than Kane I'd suspect, for a shorter term. ROR has more value because he's a natural centre. it's almost a straight up deal.
  13. Best burger - go to Johnny's on Marion. Golden Corral in Grand Forks and Fargo both closed down I believe. I was going to make a road trip just for buffet after hearing about that place but Im pretty sure I deduced they were gone now.
  14. I wasnt sure about The Leftovers after Episode 1. I just watched Episode 2 and while I am still not sure, I do feel suitably intrigued enough to keep watching. For people that love mystery, its good. its well made, well acted, interesting characters. But Im a spoiler junky so its painful to wait for mysteries to reveal themselves. if it was Network TV, Id likely not continue, but as a 10 episode HBO series? Ill trust them. I just hope Damon Lindelof doesnt ruin it like he ruined Lost and Star Trek. True Detective was AMAZING. I probably would have given up if my girlfriend didnt love it and Im glad I stuck with it. It really became something special. its all by itself as a truly unique and incredible show. The show that made me a ful on TD believer was the Mogadishu episode. Wow. Incredible.
  15. I think the idea was that the "eaters of raw meat" became said with derision. For example, Red Skin and White Skin were commonly used without prejudice originally, but it since became obviously derogatory to use Redskin. I dont think Eskimo has that same built in derogatory-ness. To be honest, "Indian" doesn't either. Indian is used within the government and on offficial documents, its used widely in the US without being derogatory. It's more sensitive up here but I find its mainly the aborigional leadership that pushes the PC button a lot. Most Aboriginal people I know use the term "Indian" all the time. its pretty amusing really...Christopher Columbus goofed so the Aboriginals became Indians. Oh well.
  16. I am glad he chose the Cavs because as Mike said, its a great story. I do find it hilarious that fans were ready to escort him out of town via pitchforks and torches and now will welcome him "home". he's saying all the right things. Good for him. Great story and he will go along way to repair his reputation. He's won two championships that people say were cheapened somewhat. Now he's going to go be the veteran on a team of kids to guide them to the promised land. Fantastic. I hate basketball but as Palpatine said about Anakin, I will be watching his career with great interest.
  17. This Ryan O'Reilly situation is interesting. lets forget for a moment that the Jets and Avs are division rivals and lets assume that ROR would sign with Winnipeg, could a Kane for ROR swap be beneficial to both sides? It would have to be conditional on the Jets being granted permission to talk to ROR about a long term deal beforehand though. He'd a a hell of a centre to have.
  18. GP G A Points Pro-rated: GP G A Points 66 14 12 26 82 17 15 32 **Rookie Season 72 18 24 42 82 21 27 48 74 30 27 57 82 33 30 63 ** First Season in Winnipeg 48 17 16 33 82 29 27 56 ** Lockout 63 19 22 41 82 25 29 54 he's actually fairly consistent. The question becomes, has he max'ed out at 25-30 goals and 55-65 points.
  19. Nice to see TSN giving Trouba some love as a franchise player. He's even winning the poll.
  20. Exactly, I said he has the potential to score 40 and ofcourse that is true. But he's not even the most talented guy on the Jets right now. He has the most upside potential though. Potential combined with a 30 goal season, another season pro-rated to be 30 goals and 19 goals in an injury-plagued season and the kid is 22...plus has a fairly cap-friendly contract? Chevy is right to hold out. Top six, top prospect, first round draft pick.
  21. A 20 year old that scores 30 goals has potential to score 40.
  22. It doesn't matter what his production is like here Brandon. If Kane wants to be gone, trade him.
