  1. Anyone see a link out there for the video they played ? Lonely road of faith? Looked good but ofcourse sports net Didn't show it.
  2. I believe he did have a lengthy criminal record. He had outstanding warrants. Let's pretend he didn't. Is it okay to run, fight, assault a cop, try to wrest control of a weapon? Is the cop supposed to know about his record through osmosis?
  3. I've never liked D'Onofrio. he's the only reason I could never watch Law & Order: Criminal Intent, at least until they brought Chris Noth back. Im not familiar with Pratt outsode of GOTG which I saw last week and was surprised by how much I liked it.
  4. I dislike changing ethnicity for political reasons but I dont really have an issue with that. At one point in the trailer one of the older cast says something like "I only care about my children" so I wonder if he is the father of Johnny and Sue. Looks okay. Jurassic World looks good. here's one Im looking forward to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=3atb-ykMR0Y How the heck do you imbed?? Anyway, its for the Brian Wilson biopic (Beach Boys). Looks great!
  5. Absolutely. They have it planned (release date too I think, for Justice League) with several members appearing in Batman v Superman. Im sure we will get a brief fight before they realise they are buddies.
  6. Brandon Routh was great. If it was me making that film, I would have done the Death of Superman story. Open the film with news reel clips showing the fight of Superman vs Doomsday (using distant shots, jerky cams, crowd reactions, etc). Then the reveal that Superman contained Doomsday but was mortally wounded. Lois Lane by his side in hospital as he dies (played by Chris Reeve). Then Doomsday returns, superman is re-born yadda yadda. Would have been a terrifically emotional passing of the torch fro Reeve
  7. You could be right. i thought Anakin knew Padne was pregnant but assumed the kids died with her. Was it the Emperor telling Vader in Empire that Luke was his son?
  8. The open Krypton scenes were what killed it for me to be honest. Two minutes in and I knew it was going to be bad. It was too "out there". In the original Superman, they did a good job of portraying Krypton as advanced but still familiar to us humans. We shared a humanity with them and risked suffering the same fate as them through our same arrogance. Certainly there was a God metaphor with Jor El sending his only son to save us. In Man of Steel, I found it too much of a disconnect. Less is more. They had flying creatures just because CGI could make it so. And the goofy plot of Superman having the coda or whatever the heck it was, ingrained in his DNA was eye rolling. Because revenge isnt enough of a motivation for Zod. I dont feel the stakes needed to be raised. They tried to make it about Zod trying to save Krypton versus Superman saving earth and it fell flat to me because they made no effort to make Zod sympathetic, so who cares about him wanting to save Krypton? And since we never felt for him, we never appreciated Superman's sacrifice. In Superman II, the moment he sees civilians are in grave danger, he flees, drawing Zod et al away from the city. In Man of Steel, he blatantly disregards the lives of civilians. And for a director like Snyder who had amazing choreography in The Watchmen, the fight scenes in Man of Steel looked like a cartoon. You couldnt tell what was happening. No realism. Yawn. The best part of the fight was the human General standing up to the Kryptonian knowing she could easily kill him. He was far more heroic than Superman was.
  9. Didnt Vader know? Im pretty sure he knew about Luke. He knew Padme was pregnant. But didnt know what became of him until A New Hope (or Empire, I really cant remember now). But I think he knew once he saw him or felt him or whatever. He never knew their were twins until Luke's thoughts betrayed him. Star Wars: Rogue One will tell a story between Episode 3 and A New Hope, so that might answer some questions though I doubt anyone we know will be in it. here's the super early teaser trailer: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/star-wars-rogue-one-trailer-watch-the-teaser-for-the-jediless-death-star-heist-film-10188717.html Watch it before it's pulled. Disney has been pulling it down.
  10. Can we bench Ladd and play Ehlers tonight? Can we bench Stu and play Morrissey tonight?
  11. It will definitely be a way to bring in the Justice League. Several of the JA members are cast to appear in Superman v Batman already. Man of Steel was awful though so Im not overly confident in this. But Ben Affleck is a good filmmaker himself so lets hope its good.
  12. It was not messed up when Luke removed it. But he seemingly carried his father's body to the escape pod. it was shown burning (at Luke's doing) at the end of the film. I think it was right before Luke saw the ghosts of Yoda, Obi Wan & Anakin. And Leia walks over to him, hugs him and brings him back to the party. So in the trailer, the implication is someone took the partially burned mask out of the ashes.
  13. I totally get that. I have a friend who is thinks its ridiculous that Batman and Superman would fight for more than .1 second it would take for Superman to punch a hole through Batman's face. I tried to explain "well yeah but Batman has a special suit or special power or whatever" and he just shakes his head saying thats ridiculous. Superman could use super breath from a mile away and freeze Batman solid. He has a point. I love Batman so Im very interested in how this turns out and I like Ben Affleck a lot. When they announced his casting I was negative but I think moreso because I love Bale. I remember tweeting that Batman should be someone you know would kick your ass. Bale has that, Affleck doesnt. But then I saw Gone Girl. Affleck is a beast. He's deceptively huge and was already putting on muscle for Gone Girl and some pics from SvB show him pretty jacked up. I just think the trailer was underwhelming. I know it's just a tease but I didnt like it. I think it should be from Batman's perspective.
  14. I had a cop point a gun at me once. And I remember thinking after the fact, I wonder how close I was to being shot...what could I have done that would have resulted in him pulling the trigger. He didnt. Then again, I didnt assault him, try to take his weapon and run away.
  15. Maybe Lowry should get some time with Wheeler on his wing.
  16. 3rd reason. Your best forward should be on the first line. Then Ladd should be moved off it too.
  17. It seems obvious doesnt it? I dont think anyone is disputing the officer was wrong to shoot under the circumstances as we know them. But the narrative of an angry racist cop looking to kill a poor innocent guy doesnt really fit either.
  18. Tonights game either ices it for the Ducks or gives the Jets new hope. They better be prepared to weather a storm in the first period because the Ducks will look to put it away early. if Buff is going to be the Buff we need, tonight is the night. otherwise, it might be third line winger in Game Four and a thanks for the memories this summer.
  19. I've heard a lot about Incredibly Strange. I more of a realist and I like to infuse my wrestling with realistic angles. Im in the process of digitizing my library of video from the past 13 years of PCW (many of which are on unmarked 8mm and VHS tapes). We heavily did backstage vignettes in the past and some are awful, some of fun etc. I find some of what you wrote in the book description interesting though. I wrote an angle back in 2005 (I think) that was about racism in wrestling. We had a gay character and eventually did a storyline about choice vs genetics. Just this past weekend, on our show we had an update on our Champion who was legit in a very serious car accident (Sun did a story) and when the bad guy came out and accused the champion (he wasnt there, still in hospital) of trying to kill himself to avoid facing him, our sadistic crowd cheered...lol I have read many books so Ill take a loom for it. Considered writing my own too. You wouldnt believe some of the craziness involved in starting and running a small indy. Lots of dirty tricks. Friends who became enemies who became friends. Having no money. Having lots of money. Rubbing up against big stars and big promotions. Threats. I had a guy email me a pic of him pointing a gun at the camera holding a stickie that said "you're dead". Many things.... Sorry to be off topic. Split off to the wrestling thread if need be. Can i legitimize the post by also asking about the game? I only saw bits and pieces while at the bar on Saturday. What do we make of Ladd, Little, Frolik & Buff? Let's speculate. If they play the same way the next two games and the Jets are swept, what does that tell Jets management about these guys this summer?
  20. Best players aren't beinf the best players. This team might have to take one step back next year before taking two steps forward. We're getting close to the kids taking over the team.
  21. I had a bootleg copy of Clones. And it was so bad I don't think I ever watched it until the blu ray. It was just that bad. The who prequel was a mess Best thing Disney did was screw Lucas. He had treatments written for the sequel trilogy and they made him think they wanted to do it and once the sake was finalized they dumped him stories and brought back Kasdan to write new ones. Lucas' stories apparently was all new characters and kids and didn't have the originals in as large of parts
  22. Batman with a sniper rifle....hmmmmmm They didn't dump Bale though. They offered him a lot of money but he just didn't want to continue. They hve Affleck on a deal to play batman for years. That's what they wanted, someone to take on the part in multiple films for multiple years and bale just wasn't going to do it. The idea they needed an older batman is silly since Affleck looks as young if not younger than Bale but I think he will be s fine batman. It's the story I worry about. Bringing superman into the Dark Knight universe made sense. Man of Steel was so bad though. Just not impressed with Snyder. Can't believe he's the same guy that did Watchmen which is a near perfect film.
  23. They need a rule to prevent this from happening again. A team should not be rewarded for such poor management. I'm sure McDavid will report. It's what you do in sports. But his agent will probably have some tough question for management about the future. As much I would hate to see a player refuse to report I would laugh if it did happen.
