  1. What apprentice? If you believe the Rule of Two (another poor concept in practice), then Vader would not have had an apprentice. I think the puppet master in TFA might be a very old Sith, someone that was aware of the Emperor, perhaps his master at some point and someone to whom the rule of two dont apply. It would be interesting if they do a sort of switch whereas the wide-eyed Luke went to see an very old Jedi for guidance, perhaps a wide-eyed dark force user goes to see this very old Sith for guidance. Im curious as to who will be the ruler of the empire though. There must be someone. They clearly have a government of some sort still, armies etc. There must be a command & control leadership. In one shot of all the Stormtroopers, you can see a cloaked figure standing on a stage in the background but cant make out his face.
  2. MacT seems afraid to make trades. He really must have no game when it comes to negotiations. They need a strong dealer to right the ship. They have a ton of assets and still suck. That speaks to asset distribution.
  3. They kept Kane for years until the issue was forced. Kane has and had more talent and potential than Burmi. We werent discussing talent.
  4. The prophecy was still true. Anakin did bring balance. He eventually destroyed the Sith. What the Jedi didnt know was that he would end up destroying them too. And if you think about it, wasnt that truly bringing balance? Both sides were destroyed.
  5. The "high ground" is one of the most idiotic laughable things in any movie in the history of film making. It literally made no sense. Like because Obi Wan was standing on higher ground, it made it impossible for Anakin to successfully leap over him? How stupid. How friggen stupid. Lucas didnt know how to write a fight where Obi Wan would beat the strongest jedi.

  7. Him building C3PO was pretty cool actually. The pod race was good the FIRST time I saw it, but its hard to sit through again and again. The whole slave thing didnt really make a lot of sense either. The unexplored idea of how Anakin was conceived was interesting...and then dropped and left to our own speculation (that Palpatine created him or the force created him...each option raises more questions). The idea of Anakin as the strongest Jedi was sort of defeated too when Obiwan whooped his butt.
  8. That is not flawed thinking, and you should probably keep doing it. Yeah probably but Id love to see what maurice gets out of him. It depends what source you listen to but one source said Burmi was totally fine with going back to Winnipeg and another said he didnt want to play for Winnipeg. I believe Maurice did talk to him though. He wont get us much on the trade market but if we accept that Chevy holds out for full value, he's a first round draft pick that put of decent numbers and played all situations. He has value.
  9. Thats exactly what was stated. Perfect comprehension there. Well done.
  10. Agreed. They needed to make Anakin strong, powerful. Someone we believed could be the difference in the balance of power in the galaxy, someone powerful enough to destroy the Jedi. I didnt hate that he was a kid in TPM but I think he should have been Luke's age. That would have been a nice comparable to A New Hope,
  11. Yeah I dont think we will bother though. Jets are smart. They got two solid goalie prospects that shore up that position for potentially many many years, signed a good young goalie to push Pavs. They have shored up the D through drafting Trouba, Morrissey and others and the trade for Myers. I think if your top four is Enstrom, Myers, Trouba, Morrissey, you're good to go for a few years. The bottom two can be made up rather easily through pieces and draft picks. Buff could net us a solid return, the pick we'd likely want in any trade plus a forward piece. If they can get a big bodies, stay at home LHD, then all the better. But a middle-bottom six forward that is effective would be fine. One of Stafford or Frolik is pretty important to keep I think. We could be looking at this: Ladd - Little - Wheeler Perreault - Scheif - Stafford Ehlers - Lowry - ??? (Burmi) Stemp - Copp - Thorburn. Not bad
  12. I recently read a great book about Star Wars. I think its called How Star Wars Changed The Galaxy or something like that (Ill check when Im home). Fantastic unauthorized look at the development of the franchise and the good and bad. Really corrects some misconceptions. Its very easy to read and I highly recommend it for fans. I read it in just a couple of days, never put it down.
  13. Sorry. Edit to add that he added the tag A New Hope and Episode IV later.
  14. If I recall correctly A New Hope *was* just called Star Wars. No episode IV. No "A New Hope". It was after it was a huge success and Lucas was able to gain control of the property. So he didn't jabe a studio to answer to and could have called it anything he wanted.
  15. I thought there might have been an opportunity to package Pavs to the Oilers. They probably would bite on a Helle offer but I dont think the Jets would. Hutch hasnt shown he can be an everyday starter and Comrie is very very young. Helle is the heir apparent to Pavs right now. He's at that age where he could play in the NHL so the Oilers would likely take him and rush him and attempt to ruin him. Morrissey for Eberle closer to reasonable? I think the Jets are probably not keen on doing that though. I always forget about Burmi. he'd worth more to us on our team than in a trade and I'd love to see him come back. He could be a reasonable consolation prize if Frolik bolts. If the third line is Ehlers-Lowry-Burmi, I'm intrigued.
  16. Lucas likes to put forth the myth that he has all six written. Where he got that from is the changes he made to A New Hope during the story phase. He made so many changes and has so much garbage written down that it was enough for 20 movies. So in his mind, he had all this back story. The truth is, he had no idea who Vader was until into Empire production and he had no idea Luke and Leia were brother & sister either. He was just making things up as he went. He's one of these powerful people surrounded by synchophants and no one was going to tell him his stuff sucked. And supposedly the idea that his wife was more important to the originals' success than him was a very sore point. I had no problem with Anakin killing Padme in a fit of rage within the story that was being told. The idea that he injured her but not critically and she just died because Anakin was evil even though she implored Obi Wan that there was still good in him...well it was stupid as it gets. The entire fall of Anakin made little sense, happened to easily and relied on everyone being very very stupid. In the originals, the really evil things were done by others, not Vader and that allowed us to believe in Luke when he was determined to turn Vader good. When Vader is dying and says they were right about him, it was a feel good moment. Then you watch the prequels and its like...uh excuse me? He betrayed the Jedi, killed CHILDREN, hunted down the rest of the Jedi was the final catalyst for all the pain and suffering the Emperor inflicted on the galaxy. And we're supposed to be okay with his redemption? What redemption? That he also wanted to betray the Emperor and rule the galaxy himself? He was perfectly happy to help turn his son to the dark side...but didnt want him to die? Why, because it would mean he would keep serving his master? I remember people suggesting that the reason Vader *had* to serve Palpatine was because the Emperor was using his immense force powers to keep Anakin alive. I liked that because it explained why "nothing can stop" his death in Return of the Jedi and it would make him more sympathetic overall. It would have also made Palpatine's remarks about learning to cheat death somewhat of a foreshadow in that he was enticing Anakin with a way to ensure his loved ones never died but in reality used his power to keep the critically injured Anakin enslaved to him.
  17. We should start Hutch, Ehlers, Copp. Just because why not, it's only the most critical game in franchise history. Im kidding ofcourse, Pavs has kept the Jets in it. He starts. Not even a discussion about it. Although Id like to see Ehlers get in a game if we force it back to Anaheim.
  18. Lucas became all about making movies for kids and merchandising. Not to mention, he flat out was a lousy writer. He worked on the originals so long that eventually a somewhat coherent story came out but even if you look at some of his earlier treatments, it's garbage. He lucked out. And two people saved Star Wars: Lucas' wife who edited the films and made them coherent. And Lawrence Kasdan who wrote the scripts and made sense of Lucas' garbage. Never in the history of entertainment has one person made so much money with so little talent than George Lucas.
  19. I'd consider it a failure of management and Chevy's only real black mark if they hung onto Buff and lost him to Free Agency next summer. Time is now to move him. Im sure he's a great guy and good for the locker room and if he was willing to take $2 million, those are good buys. But not for what he wants and surely his agent will be trying to cash in on the last big contract of his career. The team seems to love him but a guy that shows up every few games, what message does that send to the rest of the team? Maybe trade him to Buffalo... ;-)
  20. Well then. I wonder if that was intended to infuse him with mlre force power or something. My theory would have been better. She should have touched leia thus her remembering her "sad" mother. I also never liked that Padme died of a broken heart. Nice mother there.
  21. ans Rich doesn't that mean they really have to make a decision this summer? Sign or trade. No Frolik scenario
  22. I always took that to mean that leia was remembering some sort of force imprint. Did padme touch her face when she was born? Yoda did know. He acted that way because he was testing Luke. The plot hole is, TPM taught us that Jedi must be trained from toddlers. Anakin was considered too old and he was, what, 8? Why did yoda and Ben wait so long to train Luke? Before the prequels that wasn't a problem. The prequels made it a problem. The answer could be they were waiting for the force to choose Luke but it's still silly. And why Luke and not leia who was intimately involved galactic politics and in a better position to strike down vader.
  23. He can be an elite player. Problem is he is inconsistent. I would not keep buff until the trade deadline. That's too big a move to make at that time for a Jets team we hope is battling for a playoff spot. If the decision is to move on, do it asap
  24. @rinkrant: Nikolaj Ehlers leaves for @NHLJets tomorrow. He breaks news & thanks teammates on bus ride home after Game 7. #NHLJets
