  1. Not getting that much cash. Spending the most money to add the cheapest seats is a non starter. You're not adding seats in row one. If you're raising the roof to add seats you are soending tens of millions of dollars to add the cheapest seats when they aren't needed. True North isn't sitting around lamenting their bad luck in having too few seats. That's why jets tickets are so expensive. Supply and demand.
  2. Yeah sorry I was out when I replied. We got a ton of estimates last summer and this summer. Wide range of prices. Normally Id pick the "middle" price but he was actually the lowest. I normally wouldn't say this but if Adamson Roofing is still in business do not hire them.
  3. So Trainwreck was....fantastic. It sometimes settled into a formularic "sweet" comedy but more often then not it was really great. Also lots of sports references and a few cameos by athletes. Amy is really funny and fresh. I'm a fan. If you don't like her you surely won't like her in this. And ofcourse Hader is reat too. I recommend. If you're gf or wife is trying to drag you out, go.
  4. Ultimate exteriors. Just had it done. Not sure how to post a pic or Id show you before and after. He's low priced as he works by himself. Did great work. Even cut down a tree that was in his way that we didn't want.
  5. Ant man appeals to me because of Paul Rudd. He's great in everything.
  6. I love Amy. Looking very forward to it! I'll report back later. It was either this or Ant Man and the buddy preferred this to ant man. Go figure.
  7. Whoops. Meant to add that the original plan called for MTSC to hang over the streets on either side thus being larger but the city would not allow the "tunnelling" effect. They have since allowed the convention centre to do so though
  8. As much as I dislike Glenn Murray I believe he was the one who demanded the arena be large enough for the NHL. TN was content with an 8000 seat facility for the Moose
  9. Very little extra revenue compared to cost of installing. Unless you think they should have kept room for 1000 front row seats somehow.
  10. I don't disagree. But I expecred as much and went into it with an open mind and found it suitably entertaining I will be seeing Trainwreck tonight.
  11. My work has Bing as the default. Terrible.
  12. Peter Tessier wrote a blog about Frolik today (a little late to the party) http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Peter-Tessier/Did-The-Jets-Really-Want-Michael-Frolik/161/70018 He had this which stuck out to me: From two people I have spoken to, one connected directly to Frolik, the Jets never came to the table with a significant improvement in annual contract value. It always stayed around 3.5 million per year. Which is so very curious when looking at what Stafford received in his new contract. Doesnt that fly in the face of what others said, that the Jets offered money in line with what Calgary did (and supposedly Jersey offered more than both)? If true, I wonder if the Jets offered more term at the lower price. All moot now. But if true it shows the Jets set a value and are going to stick to it, regardless.
  13. There was some sort of internet backlash about him looking like a scrub. So they cleaned him up.
  14. Well now you bringing up the only bad part of Supe 78. After some pretty good X-Men movies I've always felt like do we really need another version(F4) even if it predated X-Men? Fox is determined to make a go of FF with the idea of doing a FF/X-Men cross over. Supposedly they are talking Singer into helming the cross over. So it could be good. I judge the original Superman films on the era they were made. I dont mind the spinning around the earth because it was a great effect at the time and shows the sheer power of Superman in contrast to his father telling him he was forbidden to interfere - and Superman went right ahead and interfered about as much as possible by turning back time. Sure, it made no sense and would have killed everyone on Earth, but for the time period, I think it worked. We're a more judgmental audience now and those kinds of logic holes get picked apart. Bob Orci would have excelled as a writer in the late 70's/early 80's where his brand of mindless action and massive plot holes would have been over-looked. In fact, SONY also wanted to make an expanded Cinematic Universe around the Spider-man character but Orci helped kill it with his lousy scripts. I long wished they had used Christopher Reeve one last time before he died. The "Death of Superman" story would have made a great film. In fact, it would have made a great introduction to an expanded Universe with the Justice League trying to fill his role. Start the movie with news broadcasts of the Superman vs Doomsday fight, distant shots, choppy etc. CGI Reeve as Superman. Show him in a hospital bed, Reeve playing the role as the crippled and dying Clark Kent. When he finally is "re-born", its whatever actor they want to use.
  15. There is definitely a lefty spin in the media in this country with the right media either being way too right or simply being tagged as "crazy". I mean, look at Ezra. I posted one of his stories in another thread and people attacked Ezra without even watching the story. Im not a devout follower of his so I dont know the dirty details of his "craziness" but I do follow him on twitter and look a bit closer when I see something that interests me. Recently he has become embroiled in a feud with Catherine Porter with the Toronto Star. Both were at a "Jobs, Justice & Climate" march (with that name you know it's going to be an unbiased story). Porter seemingly there to take part I guess. Ezra there to interview people. Porter tried to set Ezra up, repeatedly requesting that he interview her nine year old daughter who wanted to confront him. Really. A 9 year old consciously chooses to confront Ezra Levant. Sure. Porter wrote a story on this for the Star and described her daughter as "incredulous" that "the right-wing (important fact I guess) broadcaster doesn't believe in human-caused climate change". She states she and her daughter watched Ezra "cross-examine" a man dressed like a chicken. The daughter asked what Ezra was doing and Porter admits she told her kid Ezra was "belittling" the man because he (Ezra) doesnt believe in man-made climate change. Porter says her daughter couldnt believe it and marched over to confront Ezra. A 9 year old. Uh huh. Porter then writes she wondered if bringing her child to the protest was appropriate. *rolls eyes*. She described her daughter as ready to brawl with Ezra and wrote that Ezra wouldnt engage the kid and attacked the mother, resulting in the kid saying "you're being mean to my mom". She later said her daughter took part in a "Stephen Harper must go" chant. 9 years old. Porter seemingly proud of how her daughter has formed her own opinions. Sure. Anyway, the point being Ezra video recorded the entire thing and Porter's account was a complete fabrication. The kid did not go off to confront Ezra. Porter repeatedly asked him to come interview her daughter. Ezra clarified that he had her permission to do so. The daughter then asked a clearly rehearsed question "why dont you believe in climate change?" Ezra was very nice to the little girl and said well its not that I dont, its that I believe the Earth goes through regular heating and cooling trends. The kid looked at him perplexed. She clearly knows nothing about climate change. She's 9 years old. Ezra asked if she had heard of the ice age and she said yes. He said well the earth has had many ice ages and warming trends. The girl was obviously confused and had no means to engage in a reasonable discussion. She only knew the one question to ask. Ezra then began interviewing her mother. The kid did not say "you're being mean to my mom", she said "you're talking to my mom, you know", though clearly annoyed. Ezra was again, very polite. His video also showed he was not belittling the chicken man but engaging in a light hearted discussion and both were laughing. The question is: Is Catherine Porter delusional or is this an example of the how the left lie and cheat any opinion that isnt exactly the same as theirs? On the subject of climate change I read a CNN story about...I cant even remember, and one line was "man-made climate change is no longer debated within the scientific community". It isnt? I found it hilarious. Its like the left is covering their ears and yelling "na na na na I cant hear you" and if they say "there is no debate" enough times, it will become accepted as fact. The right: "let's debate issues" The left: "There is no debate. We are correct".
  16. On July 4, 2015, Dubnyk, as an unrestricted free agent, opted to remain with the Wild, signing a six-year, $25 million contract at an average annual value of $4.33 million. The terms of the deal were initially agreed-upon on June 26, just prior to his free agent status came into effect on July 1
  17. Well you'll have to see the movie to see how Batman can be a threat to Superman. But the inclusion of some sort of special Batsuit and Kryptonite in the trailer is likely a big clue.
  18. As far as movies go I didn't mind Man of Steel. But it pales in comparison to Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy which I consider the best "comic book" movies ever made. Would have been perfect if they didn't get Christian Bale to utter his Batman lines in such a bizarre tone/fashion. As far as this one goes I'll give Affleck a chance, though I'm not sold on him. More looking forward to Fantastic Four this summer. Odd considering Nolan's Batman is as far away from an actual comic book movie that you can get. More of a crime movie with a guy dressed up as a bat then a comic book movie. And Fantastic Four looks like garbage. I'd rather watch the first 2 movies then this crappy reboot. Fox sure needs this FF movie to be a hit if they are serious about creating their own cinematic universe with the FF, X-men and Deadpool all showing up in the same film one day.
  19. You spend millions of dollars and water down your market on the chance you might need be seats thirty years down the line? Why would the jets need three thousand extra seats? If demand grew even more they'd raise prices.
  20. I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it. Voltaire Might not have been Voltaire, but thats who usually gets the credit.
  21. No kidding. I think it comes down to common sense. You know when you've gone over the line. With social media, you can block people. I've had people call my house and threaten to kill me. I once got an email with a photo of a guy pointing a gun at the camera holding a sticky note that said "bang, you're dead". This case seems like something where if they didnt want to read this guy disagree with them, they could block him. If he started calling their house or posting threats or personal information, then its harassment. Heck, i go blocked by Bart Kives because he didnt like me disagreeing with him on twitter. I think I told him he was very negative. Got into a twitter battle with our MLA too and he was very aggressive and negative. I didnt block him, but he blocked me (and others). Think he got kicked off twitter for awhile actually. I'd always want the law to err on the side of letting too much go then over-restricting things. Whats the saying, better to let a 100 guilty men go free than convince one innocent?
  22. Not only does it make no sense for the market but the arena was built long before the return of the NHL was even possible. So we're now talking build an 18,000 seat arena for the Moose. Was never going to happen. Cities are smaller then Winnipeg and building 18k arenas. You build for the future but this is Winnipeg where 4 lane roads are enough. If only Winnipeg had the same foresight as Glendale.
  23. The be fair, thats the way it should be no? As a society we should be protected insofar as expressing our feelings and opinions but should also be protected from hate. There is a great historic photo of a KKK member in his goofy sheet hiding behind a black cop who is protecting him from an angry mob. Sort of sums it up right there. In a not-related but sort on the same subject, we all might have heard about Alexis Frulling, the 20 year old woman who was video taped engaging in a threesome with two guys in an alley during Calgary Stampede. She's turned this into an "I am woman, hear me roar" scenario (and I cant say I disagree with her either): http://www.vice.com/en_ca/read/the-woman-from-the-calgary-stampede-threesome-reminds-us-that-women-can-do-whatever-they-want
