  1. The Big Show guys were talking about the issue of "skilled" forwards at traditionally "grinder" positions and the move towards smaller players with skill. But to me, for Petan to play on the 4th line it would mean a complete change in how the 4th line is used and it's purpose. If they play 5 minutes a game, is that enough for Petan to develop as opposed to playing 1st line minutes and conditions on the Moose? I know people are saying Armia looked good at the development camp. If anything we might have "too many" 3rd line guys. Will Burmi or Armia drop to the 4th? I have a hard time thinking Burmi will. I think he'd excel in that role but wouldnt be enough minutes unless, like Buff playing forward, its augmented with special teams play. I could see Armia maybe playing 4RW as he is big and uses his size in his playmaking. But again, is 4th line better for the player than top six with the moose? Could Lowry and Burmi switch places? Its going to be interesting.
  2. I have some thoughts on this subject but at this late hour let me just say this, those guys look amazing and should hve been featured in the Dukes film and spared us from that abomination we got. When I sat in the theatre and the original theme began I had a huge smile on my face. The rest of the movie made me want to cry. And not for joy. A little piece of my childhood died that day.

  4. if I recall, the ref was staring right at the QB and Willy clearly reacted to the hit to his face. I'd say that the ref saw it and simply felt it wasnt a penalty because of the positioning of all involved. That's not his decision to make. Helmet to helmet = penalty. Intent doesn't matter at all. Oh I agree. I just think thats why no one threw a flag. They were flat wrong. But I dont think they "missed it" it as much as they didnt know they should call it.

  6. I know some of us love a good debate and this is an interesting one. http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/07/politics/sc-confederate-flag-future/index.html The above link is the latest in the South Carolina situation. But I see so many people on Facebook defending the flag as some sort of symbol of Southern Pride or Southern Culture. Like iced tea and football or whatever. I actually used to have a confederate flag hanging on my wall when I was a kid. Can you guess why?
  7. They compare your tests to a baseline that is done before the season, or at least that is how other sports do it. He cant hide it if he's feeling effects from a concussion. And if he can hide things then that's his problem. You could be right. But if I had to bet on the expert medical staff versus you, Im going with them. You dont hold out players because you think they are lying about an injury with ZERO evidence to make you think that. To what end? A guy is cleared after a shoulder injury but you hold him out because he might be lying? Im as sensitive as anyone to concussions but this is overkill. This is a sport where there is an inherent risk that players assume when they choose to play. If ten or twenty years from now Willy suffers effects from injuries he suffers today, that is the risk he took. All available medical care is presumably being taken. You dont start guessing or using voodoo.
  8. For anyone interested, we have a live show this Saturday night. Kenny Omega will be in action as well as guys from here, SK etc. We're having a championship tournament so it should be fun. Doubles Fun Club Doors open at 8 (they are actually open all day to be honest) Bell Time: 9PM. This is adults only and the security is oddly strict about ID. Booze, food available. If anyone wants to attend, shoot me a message (or reply) and Ill be happy to add you to my guest list.
  9. Apparently Subway is scrubbing him from their corporate existence.
  10. I think that's the question. Different media are spinning it differently. Most are being careful about putting his name and "child porn" together. I've seen others that reported the house was searched as part of a child porn investigation. For the FBI to execute a search warrant you'd think it be more targeting Fogle than looking for evidence against Taylor. But if Fogle as some of the charity assets in his home that Taylor might have used, I could see them looking for it.
  11. I'd be fine with both of these scenarios. Sign Ladd and trade Buff BEFORE the season. Also, isnt Lawless on vacation? He must have received some "news"...
  12. @Sportsnet: The #Blues have signed Vladimir Tarasenko to an eight-year deal worth $60 million: http://t.co/fEZwsGWokWhttp://t.co/QWZtcH4bw8 $7.5 per year
  13. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/07/07/feds-police-search-home-subway-pitchman-jared-fogle/ DEVELOPING: State and federal authorities descended Tuesday on the Indiana home of Subway spokesman Jared Fogle, just over two months after the former director of his charitable foundation was arrested on child pornography charges. Fogle, 37, who became the sandwich chain’s spokesman in 2000 after losing weight as a freshman at Indiana University by eating an all-Subway diet, lives in the Indianapolis suburb of Zionsville. Authorities did not say if Tuesday’s search warrants were connected to the arrest of his former associate. Investigators from the FBI, State Police and Postal Service arrived at 6:30 a.m. at Fogle's home, where an evidence truck was parked in the driveway, according to the Indianapolis Star. The newspaper reported that electronics were taken from Fogle's home and analyzed in the truck. Fogle, who could not be reached for comment, was home during the search and was seen entering and leaving the evidence truck. The FBI and Indiana State Police were on the scene Tuesday morning, Fox59 first reported. FBI spokeswoman Wendy Osborne confirmed that the agency was conducting a criminal investigation, but declined further comment. Officials at Subway's Milford, Conn., corporate headquarters did not immediately return requests for comment. The development comes two months after Russell Taylor, the former executive director of the Jared Foundation, which Fogle started to raise awareness to and combat childhood obesity, was arrested on federal child pornography charges. Taylor, 43, attempted suicide on May 6 at the Marion County Jail, and was placed on life support, but his health has improved, according to officials. Taylor faces seven counts of production of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography in a case that began when a woman he had been emailing alerted authorities to Taylor's offer to show her images of children. After Taylor's arrest, Fogle issued a statement that said he was "shocked" over the allegations and that the foundation was "severing all ties" with Taylor. Fogle, who once weighed 425 pounds but now maintains a weight of 190, has taped more than 300 commercials for the food chain. He makes appearances around the country on its behalf, as well as giving speeches on the benefits of eating healthy. Early commercials featured Fogle slipping into the 62-inch waist pants he wore when he was obese, and before he began eating turkey and veggie subs exclusively at the Bloomington, Ind., Subway near the school's campus. His former roommate, Ryan Coleman, brought attention to Fogle's diet success in an article for the school newspaper that got the attention of the restaurant chain.
  14. I want to keep Ladd but if its $7M, I'd not be very comfortable with that.
  15. That looks great! Toss a riders jersey in there.
  16. Great analysis of Andrew Ladd's market value: http://illegalcurve.com/2015/07/06/what-is-the-fair-market-value-of-jets-captain-andrew-ladd/ "Therefore, in conclusion, it would be reasonable to set Andrew Ladd’s next contract value on a sliding scale: $7.0 million per season on a four-year term $6.75 million per season on a five-term term" $6.5 million per season on a six-year term and $6.25 million per season on a seven-year term
  17. No one knows. If only there was a profession of experts who spent years studying a specific field...lets call it "medicine" and were then able to be hired to provide their expert opinions to people so that we no longer went through life "unknowing". I get what you're saying. But there is nothing to believe that Willy passed ALL testing, has ZERO symptoms or effects and should still sit out. Why 14 days? Why 8? Why 30? Why not a year? Since this isnt based on any scientific decisions. If he goes through practice with no symptoms, he's good to go.
  18. Sweet! Bring on Noel Thorpe's blitz machine!!! I'm sure MB will have a gameplan to keep Willy upright So...lets sit Willy all season. Because if the doctors and him and the tests all say he's fine but you think he's not because they might all be wrong, when might he be allowed to go back in? So sit him all season. If Brohm gets sacked, sit him all season too. If anyone is tackled hard at all, sit them. This is why there is a protocol and a medical staff so uninformed fans on the internet can pretend they know a lot more than they do.
  19. Why do you think this...above and beyond what his doctors and he say? He passed the tests. Does it mean he did NOT suffer a concussion? No, I wont say that. But you dont hold him out "just because" when he's passed all the testing, has no ill effect from the hit and feels fine. There is just no sound medical reason. Common sense means following the medical team's expert medical opinion.
  20. Im not sure you watched many games that first season. Oduya wasnt asked to play above his ability here. He played far better at a higher level in Chicago. He didnt want to be here. He is a good D man. That coupled with it being a deadline deal and Chicago wanting him and the market at the time allowed the Jets to get the return they did. Burmi played infinitely better than Setoguchi here. Effort was never Burmi's problem. You dont get PK time if your effort sucks. He wont be a healthy scratch here. I'd be very very surprised. There is a better chance of him successfully filling a top six role than being a healthy scratch by season's end in my opinion.
  21. So for those people feeling he is rushing back, the opposite is true - he passed all protocol during the game and was ready to return and the medical staff would not allow it out of an abundance of caution. Good to hear.
  22. I hate to disagree with you Doctor, but they arent rushing Willy back. That implies he is injured and, in week 3, they are forcing him to play. He is not injured. He is cleared by medical people. He is good to go. Also, he was not unconscious by most accounts unless I missed something. Laying on the field doesnt mean he was unconscious and if he was, it means he lost consciousness sometime after being hit because he was conscious when he was hit and reacted to it.
  23. Awesome! Post a pic of it fired up!
