  1. SI article suggests an All Canadian division. Isnt that pretty much the worst thing for those team as far as travel goes?
  2. UPDATE: The New York Rangers and center Derek Stepan have avoided salary arbitration and reached an agreement on a six-year, $39 Million contract extension, which is an annual cap hit of $6.5 Million per season. Also, Nashville and forward Colin Wilson have agreed to a four-year, $15.75 Million deal.
  3. Im sure the excuses will be that Brohm coming in in relief is a lot different than starting and practicing 1st team "all week". If Willy cant go, they will start Brohm. The O will be vanilla for him and he will get creamed several times. Bombers will be down by three majors and Marve will come in in relief and look a lot better. Then Brohm will start again next week.
  4. Well Booker wasn't trying to be funny. It just slipped out. The funny part is as a young guy he felt he disrespected Hogan so he went to him to apologize and Hogan said no problem before saying it the word back to him and they both laughed.
  5. I'd be looking at bridge deals for trouba and Scheif so they can potentially lock up more FA on the third contract. But if trouba insists on a deal that takes him to FA then the Jets might have to pay more and get a couple years of FA tacked on.
  6. @BookerT5x: 20 years ago I made a huge mistake by saying something I shouldn't have on National TV. @BookerT5x: It's 2015 and the n-word should be eradicated from the English language in my opinion.
  7. It's really going to be a scenario where Ladd cashes in and it precludes Jets from resigning Buff. Considering they're friends I wonder if Ladd would take less to allow jets to sign others. While the jets could afford it now, Trouba will need a raise next season. I'd rather sign trouba for 8 years then Buff for four.
  8. @SpectorsHockey: #NJDevils re-sign D Larsson to six-year, $25M deal http://t.co/d8MK8OPpNO
  9. Very low risk deal. At that price Pens should have signed him.
  10. Absolutely stupid that Booker ended up having to apologize yesterday for the live promo where he accidenltly dropped an N bomb. But sort of funny at the same time. Media now running with the story of Vince dropping an N bomb in a vignette on a PPV many years back. It's going to be tough for hogan to come back anytime soon but he's got some good friends in people like Rodman and Foreman who have already come to his Defense.
  11. @theScore: The Capitals have signed Braden Holtby to a 5-year, $30.5M contract extension. http://t.co/ZQrXKhgSINhttp://t.co/trAEqHW7aB @StatsCentre: #Canadiens 1 year contract for Alex Semin will pay him $1.1M which is less than half what the #Hurricanes will pay him as part of his buyout
  12. Under Texas law she was resisting arrest the moment she refused his order to get out of the car. The question is did he have the right to issue that order? Most of us wokld say no. But the cop will say he considered the lit cigarette a threat to his safety. We can say that is nonsense. But the cop will always win that. Both parties were wrong. In my opinion the cop more so. He was very discourteous and wanted to "show" the citizen who was no doubt annoying with her "I have the right" stuff. I'm sure the cops meet citizens who think they are constitutional lawyers all the time but they need to have more patience Officer should have said fine. Here's your warning. Have a wonderful day.
  13. Oh I agree that it's silly to say obviously the cops killed her. But it's a major news story and fair game to discuss.
  14. They've had twenty years to build up support. They've had good teams during that time. They had the greatest player of all time as coach and owner. Theyve had well known veterans and young prospects. Nothing ever drew a crowd. Even when they brag about selling a few tickets it's at deep deep discounts. If the coyotes won the cup, they next season theyd sell a lot of tickets at deep discounts for about a month and be right back to nothing. They have the benefit of a large segment of Canadian snow birds and still can't draw. It's a failed market. And the only reason the team is there is because the city agreed to pay. And now the five year out clause is gone and the deal has two years on it. The team is gone in two years. Vegas and Quebec get expansion and coyotes will move to an eastern city. League will have to realign again.
  15. So you really have nothing to add about the story, just here to complain about people discussing the story? At what point are we allowed to discuss a major news item? And I'm not disagreeing with some of what you're saying. I just think you clearly have a view about the story and would like to hear it. No one was in that cell with her so we can never know the entire story. Maybe when the investigation results come out and likely show it was suicide. But we can judge the traffic stop exchange from the video. Very sad situation that obviously didn't need to happen.
  16. If the church changes their opinion does it mean it's no longer a sin? And how do you reconcile many Christians who believe the bible is supportive of same sex relationships? And again, how do you accept picking and choosing which sins are bad and which are ok? Surely some of the more silly things the bible says are sins you probably commit...
  17. Wrestling observer: WWE: Hulk Hogan's WWE contract terminated, National Enquirer story claims racist comments (updated) Friday, 24 July 2015 04:32 By Dave Meltzer, WrestlingObserver.com w/additional info from Josh Nason On Friday morning, WWE announced they have terminated the contract of Terry "Hulk Hogan" Bollea. Their brief statement: "WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide." A few minutes afterward, the National Enquirer and Radar Online released a story that claims Hogan made racist comments on a sex tape, using the N-word several times in a dialogue about someone that was was offering to fund daughter Brooke's music career. Here's an excerpt from their story: "I don’t know if Brooke was f*cking the black guy’s son," Hulk raved, the sources add. "I mean, I don’t have double standards. I mean, I am a racist, to a point, f*cking n*ggers. But then when it comes to nice people and ****, and whatever." Then, in a tirade to rival the racism embarrassments suffered by Mel Gibson and "Dog The Bounty Hunter," Hulk unloaded even more hatred! According to sources, he said: "I mean, I’d rather if she was going to f*ck some n*gger, I’d rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall n*gger worth a hundred million dollars! Like a basketball player! "I guess we’re all a little racist. ******* n*gger." The dropping of Hogan was entirely due to the content on the sex tape with Heather Clem, believed to be from 2006, who at the time was the wife of Bubba the Love Sponge. Although only one sex tape had surfaced, in 2012, which led to Hogan's $100 million lawsuit against Gawker Media, which showed excerpts from the tape, an FBI investigation showed three additional DVDs of Hogan and Clem. Those close to the situation indicated that other speculated reasons over the last day had nothing to do with the decision, including a 2012 radio interview that had been talked about in many circles as the possible reason. At this point Hogan has not been removed from historical content on the WWE Network. But he won't be involved in anything current or going forward. After learning of the content that was going to be released, on Thursday night, the WWE ordered its web site to eliminate all mentions of Hogan, including as an Alumni or as a Hall of Famer, in addition to his merchandise. He was also removed as a judge for Tough Enough and at this point a replacement has not been named. Curtis Axel will be dropping his Axel Mania gimmick immediately.
  18. Apples and oranges competing yotes to Jets. Coyotes have a palace with all modern money makers. They simply don't have the fan support. They never have. They never will.
  19. Even if wan was asked to design a crappy buikding why would he? Sure, the money. But if he had any sense bed either have written indemnity against all this or decline. He likely made a pile of money for this but how much will he lose due to his rep being damaged. If I hire someone to rebuild my kitchen I think there is an expectation they don't just agree with everything I want - they tell me if my ideas won't work because they are the experts. Hiring wan was a mistake to begin with. I'll let Asper (who I am not against) wear that one. But the second the government inherited this they should have hired a professional stadium designer regardless of cost
  20. Coyotes blogger: UPDATE: The details are out and it seems that the original 15 year deal is now a two year deal, the five year out-clause has been removed (although, since the deal is over in two years, that is probably irrelevant) and the city doesn't have to pay $15 million to the Coyotes, but will instead pay $6.5 and let the Coyotes take the revenue (Which doesn't add up to $15, so you can see why the city was not a fan of this deal). Seems like a good deal for the city, when you consider how smug the Coyotes seemed about their voting to cancel the lease in the first place. I did not think it was anything more than political grandstanding, even after becoming aware of the tax burden placed on the residents of the city from John Oliver, I still did think anything more would happen other than the NHL crushing them in court.
  21. Good luck with that one. Sounds like something people that want to fly it for negative reasons would give as an excuse to fly it. The swastika is still a positive symbol in many places but I doubt in western civilization it's going to be brought back You should fly the "don't tread on me" flag of you feel that strongly about it. I don't have a flag pole but if I did Id just fly the Canadian Flag.
  22. I'm not sure what your post is about. Difficult to determine what your position is other then some angry General response. Yes I start many of the controversial threads. It's news. It's interesting. I like this forum. I asked for the NHL forum and I contribute to this one too. Content is good. I've been in many situations with the police both good and bad. Mostly good. What are you trying to say about this specific situation?
  23. How is not believing being gay is a mental illness bigotry towards Christians. Christians can't even agree how they feel about gay marriage. Taking the position it's bigotry against your religion to support human rights is ridiculous. And if your religion councils prejudice then yes it is wrong Besides you don't follow the letter of your religion anyway. Not many Christians do. It's a pick and choose endeavour. The issue with the award comes down to ESPN. You can look up the qualifications for the award. Jenner qualified. The point was providing a platform to spread a word of love, tolerance, and acceptance. Surely a message you can embrace as a Christian.
