Sure, why not. Whatever. WWE Network and Wrestlemania
The Unknown Poster replied to Goalie's topic in General Discussion
Matt Hardy is 41. He's doing (and looking) alright for his age and the style he's worked. Jeff Hardy was a legitimately huge singles star for WWE just a few years ago (2008/2009). I imagine WWE would have interest in Jeff as a singles or both as a novelty tag team (Dudley's). However, if they returned as a novelty tag team, I would bet Jeff ends up so over he'd be split off and pushed. Always a risk given their pasts. But Jeff was a really, really huge as a star. -
Well Wheeler seemed disappointed he wasnt chosen. But now that he's made plans, I dont blame him at all.

Sure looks intentional to me. Regardless, that's a suspendable offense to me. You dont skate slowly and suddenly deliver a check like that to a player, let alone a ref.
-
Wow! I heard his comments before seeing the video. He claims he was bent over hurt and when he looked up, the linesmen was right there. What a complete fabrication. He intentionally hit him. I'd suspend him the rest of the season.
-
Yes, he's a genuine box office draw. He and his ex wife own a production company that produces a lot of stuff too. He's really a tireless actor who does a ton of work. Currently filming season 2 of Ballers and I believe its Baywatch that starts around WM (for which he's been unable to get insurance clearance to wrestle). Batista is good too. By the way, Batista was backstage this past week and Vince offered him a role (non wrestling) at WM. Dave declined for now but left the door open if creative comes up with something interesting. Dave has been very negative on creative in the past so I would doubt they'd find anything for him but you never know. They could definitely use him.

Also because Brock doesnt work every show, they need to have "his" opponents doing other things in the meantime. Ambrose turning is probably likely. If they maintain their plan to coronation Roman at WM then he needs heels to work with after the fact. Hunter is the #1 heel right now and he wont be working full time before WM (though he will do some houseshows) let alone after. The problem with turning Ambrose is that he's infinitely more over than Roman. In fact, some people predict WrestleMania will change plans because, unless Hunter is really on top of his game manipulating the fans, he's going to get cheered against Roman. The speculation is Rocky (and maybe Ronda) in Roman's corner at WM with Vince is Hunter's corner to help get the right reaction for Roman. WM ending with Roman celebrating with Rock and Ronda gets Roman all the mainstream publicity. Vince is notorious for locking in the direction but he's changed a couple of times, most notably the Daniel Bryan run a couple years ago when WM was planned to be Batista vs Orton. So there is always the chance sustained negative response to Roman causes Vince to get cold feet. But because Hunter is in the match, I tend to doubt it. Hunter didnt want to go with Bryan even when it was obvious they had to, Vince made the decision. So Hunter is more likely to go with Plan A. The slight chance of plans being screwed up probably have less to do with Ambrose (because even though he's more over than Roman, the fans arent in love with him like they were with Bryan) and more with Hunter. I would never bet money on this because Hunter is wiser in his old age, but he was a well known nut-cutter back in the day. And he's positioned himself as a strong pseudo babyface in this program already. If they go into WM with Roman being boo'ed out of the building and Hunter cheered at a massive level, dont be surprised if there is lip service to the idea going in a different direction. And Plan Z might be if AJ Styles gets the Bryan reaction. I dont think he will (he wont be booked into the same position) but he's probably the one guy that has that Daniel Bryan-like emotional resonance with the crowd (at least until Samy Zayn really hits). In other news: Nakamura will debut at NXT Takeover in Dallas before WrestleMania, versus Zayn. The match surprises me a bit because Nak will be a huge face to the NXT crowd initially but this ensures a tremendous match. Nak will "learn" the WWE way in NXT for a little while which is the right idea for him. Apparently Joe is slated for the main roster after WM which is a huge surprise. Dont be shocked if he wins the NXT title at Takeover Dallas either. This plan for Joe, which seems to be a change, makes me wonder if they dont already have a huge plan for the RAW after Mania doing a Bullet Club type deal with Styles, Joe...not sure who else. Balor will stay in NXT but maybe he does both for a bit. Or Joe attacks AJ and they feud. Keep in mind, Anderson and Gallows will be available by then too... Jeff Hardy re-upped with TNA which is a bit of a surprise as he openly talked about going back to WWE. Matt will surely sign with TNA as well. -
Game 49 : Good Ole Jets @ Bad New Jets

I dont mind Stu. I'd prefer if there was more competition at his spot. Its better that he's a bottom 2 guy rather then being penciled in automatically as a 3-4 D man. I'd prefer a scenario where maybe he doesnt play every game but has some competition to rotate with. Perhaps Morrissey will provide that next season, pretty different style though. -
Jesse was a decent actor as far as wrestlers go. Rocky is really good. Roddy Piper was okay (They live). Terry Funk was decent too (Road House).

X-Files collapsed under the weight of its own mythology. Although when they brought in Robert Patrick it was sort of a resurgence for me. He's tremendous. Would love to see him cameo on the new season. They seem to have got back to basics but also they flat out explained the Alien conspiracy and everything that the previous 9 seasons taught us so there isnt that same "weight" of "what is true/what isnt true" that permeated the original. Its really good. Plus, that theme. The exact same opening, not even updated with the older actors, I love it. it really says "this is season 10" not a re-boot.

Star Wars: Spoiler Thread Discussion
The Unknown Poster replied to Logan007's topic in General Discussion
I believe the original plan had been the reveal in Empire was Vader saying the truth was Obi Wan had killed Luke's father. The words the Vader acted actually said was that "Obi Wan never told you the truth. He killed your father" and Luke's pained "nooooo" is reacting to that "on set" but ofcourse Lucas had told him they were going to dub over Prowse's lines with the "I am your father" line and thats what Hamil was responding to. Apparently during the premier, the rest of the cast learned of the twist by watching it and Harrison Ford turned to Hamil and said "I cant believe you didnt tell me that". So when Obi Wan sort of gives an odd look when talking of Luke's father in ANH, its because he thinks he's lying about Vader killing Anakin, which he is ofcourse, just not in the way Alec thought. It shows how much Lucas was altering the story as he went. In Empire, he knew he was going to make vader Luke's father, but didnt know Liea would be his sister, hence the scene where she kisses Luke. The original plan had been Return of the Jedi would feature Luke's sister, but it wouldnt be Leia. Im not sure the revelation of Luke and Leia being twins would fly with today's audience but because its canon now, I sort of laugh at people who are critical of the coincidences and whatnot in TFA. Thats part of the mythos of Star Wars... In a way, its something JJ added to Star Trek too, the idea of destiny pulling Kirk et al towards their rightful futures/histories. -
It was supposed to be Benicio Del Toro but he backed out at the last minute. Probably after realising the film was going to suck.
-
Absolutely he was for many reasons. But the lack of backlash was weird. Maybe because the original actor wasnt "Middle Eastern" either.
-
In this specific case of Michael Jackson, I can "see" it but man, what were they thinking. Like, why bother doing that? Just absurd. The article goes on to complain about the backlash to the idea of Idris Elba playing James Bond. There was very little backlash over Bendict Cumberbatch playing "Khan" (who was a Sikh character originally played by a Latino).
-
(CNN)With all the controversy over #OscarsSoWhite, now may not have been the best time to announce that a white actor has been cast as African-American pop star Michael Jackson. According to The Guardian, Joseph Fiennes will play the late superstar in a made-for-TV drama to appear on the British channel Sky Arts. The TV movie centers around a fabled road trip in which Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando tried to get home to Los Angeles from New York after the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Really? The Rock is a HUGE star. He faltered for awhile because his management wanted to soften his image. He got very thin for awhile and took "broader" roles. He fired his management (his ex-wife Dany is his manager) and went back to being The Rock. He's a box office draw. Big time.
-
Yeah but probably not to sign both. I always laugh when I hear people say good players wont come here. Its one thing when they have 20+ teams bidding on them in Free Agency. But Chevy has signed every pending Free Agent he wanted, other than Frolik. Guys like Ladd, Toby, Little, Wheeler all made commitments to Winnipeg. Now, do you want Ladd to be paid more than Wheeler? I dont. I'd keep him for $4-$5m per year because I think he's going to be a mid six LW. I say one more top pick (and continued smart drafting) and the Jets will evolve into a solid contender.
-
I think this is a good point in illustrating how long it can take for an NHL team to from very bad to good. Last season made us think the Jets had turned the corner but its not true. We have a lot of good talent and more coming. But it takes time. I think getting a top five pick this year is very important to then future development of the team. And the decision on Ladd/Buff too. We might look back in five years and say 2016 was the turning point. Look at Edmonton, Buffalo...still likely to get top picks this year. Both those teams seem like they will break out any year now and be tremendous. They didnt turn it around after one or two good picks. It takes a lot of time. Look at the Pens.
-
For sure. Its funny when they win, everyone gets so excited even the sports media that should know better. But the issue now is what draft position will they get. And while it's nice to paste the Yotes, a top 5 pick will do a lot more for this team than a handful of feel good victories that no one will remember...

Im the right age to remember the uproar over file sharing and whatnot. So many bands and labels didnt get it. In Canada we pay a premium for storage (blank CD's etc) that is meant to off-set any loss from people copying music. What drives me crazy is uploading a video clip to youtube and having the music scrubbed out due to a copyright claim (GNR was awful for this, not sure if they still are).

Is QB coach more involved in the offensive planning, closer to the OC etc? So in that sense a promotion because it's more training to be an OC versus what a RB coach traditionally gets? -
We be tankin' it (official tanking thread) ...

The damn jets can't even tank right! Lol -
I'm very technicallY deficient when it comes to that stuff. I like it easy. I resisted Netflix for ages.

The combination of the day after the Royal Rumble and the appearance of Dwayne Johnson led Raw to huge numbers last night, averaging 4.09 million viewers over the three hours, up 18 percent from the prior week. For a comparison, the new audience brought in by the usual Rumble bump and curiosity of where that leads saw hour one up 10 percent from last week, so that's roughly what Raw could have been expected to do, or slightly more because last week did have that bad third hour, as compared to last week without The Rock. Where The Rock helped the numbers is that hours two (where he appeared in the last few minutes) and three (where he appeared in the first few minutes) help up far better than usual, and hour two outdrew hour one, a rarity these days. Still, last year's post-Rumble Raw did 4.41 million viewers and a 3.27 rating for a studio show where they replayed the Rumble itself due to the blizzard. The three hours were: 8 p.m. 4.14 million viewers 9 p.m. 4.18 million viewers 10 p.m. 3.97 million viewers -
Is Amazon streaming available in Canada? And what is XBMC...is it an "illegal" stream? Basically, I want to watch everything on my TV. How do I do that?
