this dovetails nkcely into my theory that they have moved on to Buff because they have negotiated ladd down to his bottom dollar. So they do the same with Buff and see if they can chisel enough off to afford both. If not they have both "final offers" in front of them and can make an informed decision

Climate change is a sticky one. I don't think its that people think humans arent a factor but there is a lot of space between humans are a factor and we habe to spend insane money and cripple business or else the earth will be uninhabitable in ten years. Too many climate change lobby folk dont like to talk about the natural warming and cooling trends and how there are scientists who disagree with the popular theory. Abortion. I'm adopted and my bio parent was very young. I'm pro life. I just don't subscribe to the idea that a woman's rights always take precident. A baby's life should be a factor. Gay marriage. Well everyone knows my opinion there. Guns. I agree. Way too many. Simply no need to have a gun. Too many Americans take a prideful approach to their guns and interpret the constituion in a self serving way. Yeah yeah people kill not guns. But a person bursting into a school with a steak knife isn't going as far as someone with two semi auto rifles, three semi handguns and a couple of grenades. Common sense needs to prevail. But the gun lobby is strong. Very strong. -

I'm fine trading him if it makes sense. But he's ansolid player. Not a 4th liner "at best" -
I agree tjay Buff relies on smarts a lot which is something he shouldn't lose. Smarts and vision. But his fitness is fair game. He seems certainly very fit at his size rigt now but it gets a lot harder to stay fit as you age. It won't be that he loses the knowledge of where to be but loses the ability to get there. But if he signs for six years and gives us four elite years and one average year and one bad year it's still worth it

I agree. Im against abortion and support gay marriage. But the latter probably impacts my support more. It's a character issue. Can't support a hater. -
Those three have all been resigned. They are players the organization likes and wants here. Cormier is a decent AHL player who can provide some stability as needed on the 4th line as a call up. I don't have a problem with him

I agree and its a smart idea. If the Jets are looking good, then they keep him for our own playoff push. But all things being equal, why not flip him? Someone will pay decent for a proven scorer with an expiring contract. -

I dont know much about Rubio so I googled a bit: Rubio disputes the scientific understanding of climate change, arguing that human activity does not play a major role in global warming and that proposals to address climate change would be ineffective and economically harmful.[145][146] The website PolitiFact has said that Rubio "consistently either avoids the link between human activity and climate change, or outright denies it."[147] His plan would remove the crude oil export ban, block the Environmental Protection Agency's Clean Power Plan for reducing carbon emissions which he says would result in the closure of coal-fired power plants, and transfer energy regulation to the states.[150] Rubio has stated that he would cap government regulation on businesses. He has praised 'on-demand' businesses, such as Uber and AirBnB, as drivers of innovation that should be protected from government interference, and has criticized efforts by New York City to limit those businesses. As part of the bipartisan "Gang of Eight" in the Senate, Rubio co-authored the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013 to give illegal immigrants a pathway to legal status. Rubio advocates for a more active presence of United States in the global affairs and "a robust American role in confronting" Iran, Russia and North Korea. In 2010, he stated that radical Islamist terrorists pose the greatest threat to the United States, and that these radicals intend to impose their beliefs on the world. He voted "yes" on extending the roving wiretaps provision of the Patriot Act, which governs surveillance of suspected terrorists Rubio favors the detention of terrorists at Guantanamo Bay so that they can be interrogated for intelligence purposes, and has stated that if necessary he would re-open the military prison there.[168] Rubio identifies as pro-life, and opposes abortion, including in cases of rape and incest. On March 14, 2013, Rubio reiterated his opposition to same-sex marriage at the Conservative Political Action Conference, saying "that states should have the right to define marriage in the traditional way" As of 2015, Rubio was given an A rating by the National Rifle Association (NRA) for his stance on gun control issues.[ Rubio supports continued criminal penalties for recreational cannabis use. ****Hmmmm I dont know.... I guess Im a Conservative who is flipping over to the darkside. 8 more years of Bill...ahem, Hilary please. -

Stafford is a perfect example of what some people are criticizing the Jets for not doing more of. I like Stafford, but I wouldnt want four other Stafford's at the expense of our young ELC players. -
Probably appeals due to length. Will try to get it dropped to 10 and claim the NHL cant judge on intent if they dont know intent.
-
Do you think Jagr makes the Jets go from 4th worst to competing for top spot in the division? I dont. They didnt go "back" to Burmi. What does he make, $800,000? So...we should cut him...why?
-
Though Id love it, I have a hard time believing this team would have Toby, Buff, Trouba, Myers, Hamonic. That's a hell of a D corp.
-
Does total salary include bonuses he might have received up front? Thus lowering his per-game salary....?
-
Frolik chose to leave. If you want to debate whether we should have over-paid to lure him from his decision to leave, then thats a different topic. Toby was signed to a long term deal when he was by far our best option on D and, in many ways, our best player. He's out #1 LHD. His contract isnt an anchor. Jets like to have lots of D. Pardy and Postma being under small deals isnt preventing them from signing Frolik or anyone else. One has nothing to do with the other. You think Chipman said "Sorry Chevy, if you hadnt signed Pardy then sure, go get Frolik, but no, too bad". Come on...

$564,000 and change, according to Twitter

Good for the NHL. I said 15 (splitting the difference between non-intentional and intentional). But 20 is deserved.
-
Management and ownership has it figured out. that's why they didnt lock themselves in to any over-priced veteran contracts this season knowing they had a plethora of Free Agents to re-sign for next season.
-
Young mean cheap the way I see it. Unless you're Connor McDavid. So what would you have had them do? Not use those players and instead replace them with veterans that cost more, and in some cases not as good just because spending more money looks like they are trying harder? Yes, they could have signed Stemp and Tlusty. No, those two players werent making the difference this year. Every one of the aforementioned rookies, with the exception of Petan, needs NHL time to continue to develop. My point is, this season as a low salary season is an anomaly created by a series of previous long term contracts and a ton of ELC contracts still on the books. If the Jets dont bring in a single new player next season, their salary expenses increase considerably. So why is this year an example of the Jets not trying, but next year isnt, with the exact same players? Its a matter of circumstance, not malicious cheapness. If we end up with a top 3 draft pick, then we will be pretty happy how it all worked out.

Let the rumors start!

Yes, however his #2 (or #1) center is on an ELC. His #3 centre is on an ELC. His #4 centre is on an ELC. His #1 LW is on an ELC. Arguably the #2 or #3 D man is on an ELC. The starting goalie is on an ELC. Its not that the Jets are cheap. its that they are young.
-
Soooo, we should have, what, over-paid someone (who?) to get veterans on one year deals so we could finish 16th instead of 27th? Chipman said they have forecasts on every player, every year. This season was a weird year where their spending was way down but only one season before they had several Free Agents that would be getting big raises. They gambled that Lowry, Copp, Ehlers, Petan would be sufficient. If they had signed a few more Stafford's and it didnt work, we'd be calling for Chevy's head. Despite what some people thought when the Jets came back and what some seem to think now, this management has never shied away from spending money.

Why did you read this and bother to reply then? I find true crime very interesting and the fact Cosby leads CNN every time there is a development tells me many, many people feel the same way. If something doesnt interest you, that is not to say it doesnt interest someone else. This scenario in particular is very intriguing. in Canada, it's rare for charges to be dropped, they are always "stayed" which is essentially the same thing but allows for charges to be re-activated within a year. And Im sure its rare in Canada for the Crown to publicly announce that no charges will be brought. So, in this case in the US, where we see this happen from time to time, especially in high profile cases where a lawyer gets the DA to publicly (or at least privately) promise there will be no charges... is that a legally binding "promise"? Very interesting
