According to THR, "Star Wars Episode VIII," which was originally slated for release on May 26, 2017, has been pushed back to December 15 of the same year. In its place, Disney has pushed up "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," which is about a month and a half earlier than its original July 7 release date. Terminator & Baywatch News: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures have removed the sequel to "Terminator: Genysis" off their release schedule and replaced it with director Seth Gordon's comedy-revamp of "Baywatch", starring Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Ilfenesh Hadera, Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrbach. "Terminator 2" was set to open on May 19th, 2017; but with poor box-office performance in the U.S. market and the negative reception from "Terminator: Genysis", it looks as though Paramount Pictures and Skydance Entertainment, who produced the film, will have to rethink their strategy for releasing the next entry in the "Terminator" franchise. "Terminator: Genysis" was directed by Alan Taylor and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Jason Clarke, Byung-hun Lee and Matt Smith. Director Seth Gordon's "Baywatch" stars Dwayne Johnson as a tough as nails lifeguard who recruits a young-reckless former olympian swimmer (Efron) as the two team-up to take down an oil tycoon who has set his sights on their beloved beach that they patrol. Sure, why not. Whatever. WWE Network and Wrestlemania

Ratings news for the "go home" (episode before a PPV) edition of RAW: Due to a disastrous third hour, Raw did not have much of a bounce back after the end of football competition. Monday night's show did 3.48 million viewers, only up 160,000 viewers from last week's show that went up against the national championship college football game. On this night was clear what did the show in was the show itself, with major pattern of declines from start to finish, including a third hour that did 3.12 million viewers, a number that would have been considered poor even going against a huge NFL game. The show was promoted around building to a Highlight Reel segment where Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns would meet face-to face. No major matches were plugged for hour three. The three hours were: 8 p.m. 3.78 million viewers 9 p.m. 3.59 million viewers 10 p.m. 3.12 million viewers ***What dont they get about Roman not being "over"? And then to sacrifice Brock (who, by the way, doesnt move ratings anymore either)...mind boggling. Anyone want to make some Royal Rumble predictions? I said Hunter wins the title quite awhile back, almost as a joke but it seems like the best idea now. -

More so for the curiosity and "sure, why not" aspect then that I find her super attractive or whatever. She is attractive though. Physically. Her personality is a turn off. Speaking of nails, she hammered the final one into John McCain's presidential hopes. What a bonehead decision that was. Trump still speaks for a large segment of the population and to dismiss that is make a foolish decision. Unless he begins falling well off, the Republican's are going to have some tough decisions to make... -
Let me tell you the problem with Die Hard. They sucked after the second one. Third one, not that bad. But Die Hard had a formula and they decided to stick John McClane in a different formula and it sucked. John was a cop but he was an "everyman" cop thrust into a situation made for Stallone. Thats what made it interested. When McClane became Stallone, it ruined it.

You realise Hamonic is not a free agent right? To make him a jet it's not just his salary. It's the cost to get him. You seem to be implying the jets could trade myers for Hamonic right now but won't. I'm not convinced that's the case and I'm not convinced they should even do that if it is an option. But if the jets should be trying so hard to get rid of Myers why would the islanders want him?
-
I imagine the Lightening will just want to get something for him. But they should let him sit out his contract. Of which he's an RFA so if he ever wants to play hockey in North America again he needs to make amends to the team. ive seem it mentioned that Walsh is a lawyer and he's advising his client to not honor a contract. That's just shady. All of this risks driving his value down. Why should the team accept less because the player has a **** of an agent? They should publicly announce that they will not consider a trade this season and will reconsider in the summer.
-
Where do you get the idea tjay the jets have passed on a player due to cap vs salary? I think salary is always a consideration as it should be. We don't want the jets overpaying. I don't think for one second they made the decision that keep Myers over Hamonic because of his salary. I'm not sure one has anything to do with the other. Hamonic would be judged on his own merits and it's probably more to do with what they have to give up to get him than what he costs. For myers his salary is gravy that allows them to do other things. But he's get his cap hit in real salary on just about any team. That's fair value for his talent.
-
Why is that sad? The Jets haven't shied away from signing their key players to expensive long term deals. The cap is an artificial number that means nothing unless you're up against it (or below the floor). Real cash is far more important.
-
That's very bad advice from a character perspectice. From a practical perspective it makes sense but I'm not sure the damage done to his reputation isn't way more than any minor risk of injury. it would be fitting if that "imminent trade" was called off due to this....

Die Hard news: "Die Hard" is a franchise that has certainly seen better days. The most recent installment, "A Good Day to Die Hard," did a great job of crushing whatever viability the series had in staying relevant. Of course, that never stops studios for thinking of ways to inject a known entity some extra juice, and it was only a matter of time before "Die Hard" fell victim to prequel or reboot-itis. Luckily for us, the man in charge of this "reboot" of sorts isn't the man responsible for "A Good Day to Die Hard," but rather, Len Wiseman, the man who gave us what I thought was a pretty solid action picture, "Live Free or Die Hard." Sure, by that point in the franchise, Bruce Willis' character was less the "Why me?" character we've learned to love, and more of an unstoppable force that the villain ran from like a scared dog... but the movie was fun all the same. It's with that in mind that I'll move forward with cautious optimism. But if this film is set to be a prequel of sorts, then what would that entail, and what would Bruce Willis' role be, if any? In a recent interview with Collider, Wiseman went into the origins of the project, and what it may mean for this upcoming film. “After doing the fourth one ("Live Free or Die Hard"), there were so many conversations that Bruce [Willis] and I were having about what he put into the character for "Die Hard 1." That character comes in with so much baggage, emotionally, and experience. He’s already divorced, he’s bitter, his Captain hates him, and doesn’t want him back. So, what created that guy?" “We’ve never seen the actual love story. We know its demise, but we’ve never seen what it was like when he met Holly, or when he was a beat cop in ‘78 in New York when there was no chance of him making detective. It’s always been something I’ve been thinking about, and now we’re doing it. And it ties in.” It's very interesting that Wiseman wants to go back to the very beginning. Upon first hearing news of this prequel, a lot of fans were frustrated by the idea of going back to before "Die Hard," as many felt that that film was all the prequel we needed to buy John McClane as John McClane. Thinking back, it isn't unreasonable to assume that McClane had some badass adventures before the incident with Hand Gruber. After all, he was a New York cop, and he did manage to take down and entire group of terrorists, so that had to come from somewhere, right? Read more at: https://tr.im/qua4E

Well the cap *should* go up, though the dollar is going to drag it down a bit. So might not be as close to the cap as we think. The comparison to this year is done to show that keeping a player isnt $6m more...it's only $1.5 more. But as you showed, when using next year's cap space and all the players needed to be signed, the Jets get a lot closer to the cap and quite honestly, that close, you HAVE to be a contender or something is very wrong. Then again, if Helle maintains his .930 and 2.00GAA for an entire season, how much better are the Jets?

I dont believe those kids are singing. When they danced side to side, their mouths moved from the mic but their voices never wavered. Scam. Reminds me a bit of last week's The Good Wife. I guess there is some weird hokey stuff that happens in these rallies and what not. Republican's still have a big problem with Trump. What are they going to do if he maintains his status as the top Republican? -
Yeah but I want it now. lol Truthfully, I've been watching for awhile and prices are coming down. Already way down fro under 60". it's the over 60" that are still expensive. But I mean, you can buy one for $30,000. Im not sure what more it does over the $9000 one. It comes down to when I move. It could be two months. It could be a year. When I do, the plan is to renovate the basement and create a home theatre. At that time, I will want the new TV. Hopefully prices are even better then. My 52" cost me $2000 and that was "cost" as I had a friend buying 50 TV's for his hotel so his sales guy gave me one at cost. That was 2008. Now, you probably get a 52" for $400 and it has more bells & whistles than mine. I know SONY leads the industry in upscaling to 4K which intrigues me. I have a vast blu-ray collection and would love to see them, even upscaled, to 4K on a 75+ screen.

I like it better than 5 new episodes, three repeats, two new, four repeats etc and never knowing when or how they were going to air new versus repeats. I think AMC does marathons before the new episodes to remind people what happened and build anticipation, which is a great idea. I very much love the "cable" delivery of TV which spread from HBO to stations like AMC. Although, while I like The Walking Dead, I sometimes wish it was on HBO or Showtime so it could fully embrace its adult content.

My understanding of Deadpool from a story I read about it being banned in China, is that to make it PG-13 would change the plot too much. Regarding TV, I wasnt sold on the "Soap Opera Effect" but I do like it for some things. It's like a hyper clarity. The way I understand it, its the TV adding extra images in an non-perceptible manner, which you can turn off. I like the 4K experience from viewing TV's at the store but I wonder how good it is in practical terms. But as a bit of a film junkie, Im always interested in getting a better picture/sound experience. My TV is 7-8 years old now. I like that prices are dropping. If I create a new home theatre, I'd be open to spending money simply because Im not the type that buys the latest and greatest every year. If I buy a new TV, it will be the last one for a long time. My current 52" has lasted me well. I have an eye on a 75" Sony which I think is $5000 and an 84" LG which is $9000. Which seems like a lot. I just pulled out the tape measure in my office and 84" is friggen enormous. Maybe too big. Bit for the money, do I want to err on the side of bigger...? Regarding sound, Ive never had my system "optmized" so Im sure it could sound better. I bought a "in the box" system, an Onkyo. I went with 7.1 though Im not sure I get much more than a 5.1 would. Its also more difficult to set up especially if you room isnt nicely rectangle shaped. But it's light years ahead of the TV sound system.

Good point Floyd, perhaps they have made an internal decision to move away from Pavs and there's $4m (or whatever it is) right there. Even if they cant move him, they only have him on the books for one more year. They save money in the position on Helle who has, what, two more years? I have a feeling Scheif wont be a difficult contract. Trouba might be. But if you do a 3 year bridge, you have the option of taking Toby's money off the books and I think Myers is up in three years too (and at that point if Trouba deserves an 8 year big money deal, you only have to manage two more years of Buff at that point...its doable). Oddly I am getting the feeling they sign both guys. But a cap team that doesnt make the playoffs? I dont know about that.....

Those are good points Rich. Do the Jets look at over-all salary? I just find it difficult to believe they'd have the highest percentage of payroll dedicated to D in the league. And I dont like Ladd a $6M. Sure, he probably gets close to that on the open market. But that doesnt mean we should lock ourselves into a bad deal. Its hard to compare deals signed in different years but does Ladd deserve more than Blake Wheeler? Ladd at $5m? Sure, do it. Also keep in mind that Myers, even though the Jets get closer to the cap, the real dollars on Myers deal saves them a bit. Maybe the Jets are doing very well financially (Forbes had them just squeaking out a meager profit) and Chipman will let them spend to the cap...

Lawless is hinting that the Jets have turned their attention away from Ladd and to Buff. They met with Buff's people last week in Minnesota. I believe the numbers he said were 5 years, $7.5M. To me, resigning Buff has a lot of implications. I find it difficult to believe the Jets would allow such a high percentage of team salary to go to D, so you'd have to expect a shoe to drop somewhere. Its possible they get Trouba on a bridge deal and simply accept that they will be paying a ton for D. In two years, move away from Toby and his salary and re-sign Trouba long term with him penciled in as the #1 LHD. That would be be Trouba-Buff and Morrissey-Myers. If they keep everyone, it's Trouba-Buff Toby-Myers Morrissey-Stuart/Chiarot Which is cool. But a lot of money. And then the X factor of Hamonic seems all but a certainty to *not* be a Jet. I suppose Myers' diminishing contract could be a bonus in this expensive D scenario too.... On the Ladd front, with him openly addressing the injury and his difficulty in over-coming it, it makes me wonder if he's resigned to the fact he needs to take less. Even if he was leaving, it seems odd to admit he's having trouble coming back from the injury. Would Ladd take a shorter deal to stay and prove he can get back to his old self?

X-Files revival this weekend! American Crime Story (People vs OJ) in two weeks. The Walking Dead in a month. Vinyl in 5 weeks. Very excited!

That's actually a great suggestion Nate, and could be their plan. If the area is somewhat enclosed by buildings, it wouldnt take much to have strategically placed patio heaters in key locations. Ultimately, Winnipeg does well to get people outside during the winter and I see no reason why this would be different. We had a very mild Winter this year. I could see people watching giant video screens in this area if it was October/November/December of this winter...maybe you dont go there specifically to stand and watch a TV, but if you're there for some other gathering/event and they are playing the Jets on TV, then sure. You could also do it for certain games. Jets have a "big" game? A playoff implication game that is out of town on a Saturday night? Set up a "party" with an outdoor "icebar" (as noted in the plans), have some other entertainment, inside/outside restaurant/bars and I can see a gathering of Jets fans attending. Its not like they need 30,000 people to make it look busy. Downtown just needs to hit a critical mass of people. I know there has been criticism that MTSC didnt bring downtown back to life. Then it was oh the Jets didnt bring it back to life. But it takes a lot more than one thing. The Jets returning showed a long-term commitment to the area. It showed other business people that they could invest because at the very least they'd have those events for the next X amount of years. And ofcourse, the investment by True North and the Chipman family in Alt/Glasshouse and other businesses. Then you've got the Hydro building which was criticized but as part of an over-all strategy for downtown, its been great and will be even better as downtown improves. If True North Square works out as planned, it will be tremendous in getting people downtown 24/7. Same with the Alt/Glasshouse. More people there during working hours, more people living there/staying there. Then you've got the Skycity development just down the street which was considered pie-in-the-sky but they are actually ahead of projections on Condo deposits and if that works (which it seems like it will), it will be a monster development for downtown. In five years, downtown should look and feel completely different. Then you've got a few other little projects. The Macyntire Block (at P&M, at some point, which was slated to be a hotel). The Forks re-development which, if successful, should serve to connect downtown/SHED with the Forks. And I suspect once Glasshouse is up and running there will be interest in cleaning up/redeveloping the area North of that development. Really exciting time.

Regarding Suicide Squad - Im looking forward to it. Good for DC to take chances on that property. Little risk, potentially high reward. Perhaps going for the more dastardly comedic Deadpool crowd. I liked the trailer with the Queen music. I think the only thing that bothers me a bit is Harley's voice. Im used to the great voice from the video game. I like the actress though. Regarding Neighbors 2, I agree the first one wasnt as funny as I had hoped it would be but I still enjoyed it. Mostly due to the actors involved were all likeable. This trailer looks funnier than the first film. Also I agree about enjoying a Blu Ray on the big screen at home. What does everyone have at home? I feel like Im near the lower end of home theatres now...with my "small" 52" TV. And it's an older HD (2008) so it doesnt have that remarkable clarity (Soap Opera Effect) that the newer ones have. I do have a 7.1 Surround Sound though. Im moving sometimes this year and Im hoping to create a nice home theatre at the new place. Have my eye on a 75" Sony 4K. Interested to hear what others have here...and if you have dedicated "theatres" (Im torn on what kind of seating to get etc).
