  1. I agree about science fiction. Star Wars is science fantasy. Trek is science fiction. That's one thing the Bad a Robot people failed to understand. They just made bigger and badder and darker ships and made trans warp beaming and cured death with magic blood. They took the threat and realism out of it. Given the struggles of humanity in the world today a prequel oremise would make the most sense. Show us just a few generations into the future not 500 years. I generally detested Voyager. Most of the greatness of TNG was the chemistry of the cast and wonderful work of Stewart & Spiner.
  2. Tjere was a small part of me that thought they'd actually being in Angle since they played up his match with Shane. Use angle as Shane's mentor and mouth piece. Man that would hve made it ten times better. Even use the match as not just for control of WWE but as Angle's only chance at a contract. Tell the real story of Hunter and Vince stone walling Angle in the past.
  3. He's tough to write for bexajse he's so powerful. But Chris Reeve brought such a depth of character to the role. Those superman films suffer a bit due to the era in which their made but in many ways are still far superior to Man of Steel. One reason I prefer Superman Returns to MoS is that its was made in the spirit of the originals as a sequel. And it showed.
  4. The remaining order is determined by the Stanley Cup playoff results.[8] Whichever team wins the Stanley Cup is awarded the 30th and last pick, while the runner-up is given the 29th pick. The teams eliminated in the conference finals are awarded the 28th and 27th picks, with the 28th pick going to the team with the better regular season record. Remaining division winners are then sorted by points, then the rest of the field are ranked next, filling in the 26th through 15th picks. In both cases, better records result in later picks.[6]
  5. Aside from that bad decision he has played well. He's a big boy too.
  6. They must have something up their sleeve for WM. Cena will probably appear but he's be boo'ed. Rock was boo'ed trying to endorse Roman once already maybe Seth appears to help Roman win.... supposedly Michaels has been offered two spots. Either guest ref for Hunter/Roman (Batista was asked first) or group appearance with DX (like DX/nWo last year). So.... DX helps Roman? Still don't think that gets cheered. Maybe DX helping Shane? Who knows. At least it's unpredictable
  7. Should have turned him herl already. Unless something changes Id actually have Hunter win at WM....and turn roman heel.
  8. Dano with more goals than Ladd since the trade. Chevy wins another. Lol
  9. Aren't the playoff teams draft ranking determined by how they finish in the playoffs?
  10. I don't think it matters. Different divisions.
  11. Dano has picked it up last few games gotta love Scheif.
  12. Vancouver will suck for awhile. Sedins won't be traded. I can't cheer against the jets when I'm watching them. They are pretty good. It won't take long for them to turn the corner. But damn it let's finish LAST!
  13. My PVR screwed up so I've only seen part of RAW but sounded like a dead crowd. Apparently everyone in the building was buzzing about Kurt Angle rumors so that might have something to do with it. I don't know how much input Shane has with his angle but he's not being done any favours so far. They keep Roman off tv for weeks to give him the big return pop and he's boo'ed out of the building. I'm sure Hunter had a smile on his face....
  14. I think Enterprise because it didn't live up to the promise of its premise. The fact it had primitive transporters and less technology was great. But they never really embraced that. Not til the final season anyway but by then it was too late. The prequel concept is the best idea they've had since TNG. What made DS9 so good was its serialized storytelling. Something they didn't do Voyager and something they tried to copy with Enterprise but did so poorly. if the rumors of CBS going back in time with the new series (ie Pre TOS) are true it makes sense to me. Star Trek is meant to be an evolution of us. If you go too far in the future you get farther away from that connection...
  15. Is that directed at me? I didn't see the Hunter/Ambrose match. As for Ambrose I wasn't sold on him initially. But he has the "it" factor and has an emotional connection with the fans despite WWE trying to bury him for quite some time. And while he's thin, physique isn't as important anymore (to the fans, it's still important to Hunter and Vince) my point would be if Ambrose for the same push Roman did where would he be right now? Because roman got the big push and is still being rejected while Ambrose was buried and is still the most over face they have. I can see the argument that he's not deep enough as a character to be a real top guy. But people would say that about Bryan too. Ultimately wrestling is pretty simple at it's base. When it doesn't work it's because they over complicate things. With a face side lacking, Ambrose was their top guy (next to Brock who is part time) but they went with Roman instead. Seth will be the biggest face when he comes back. And they will probably try to force him heel! Lol
  16. A friend of nkne keeps making that argument. He says the movie is so stupid because how can batman fight superman. I say we'll wait til you watch IT before you judge it. Nope, he still thinks it's stupid.
  17. That's true. Good observation.
  18. That's not what it sounds like to me at all.
  19. This is the silliest post I've ever read. But ok. If you come up with something to support your position im all ears. No doubt Owen was great. But Bret was top five of his generation.
  20. Yeah absolutely. Knowing he's tall, I feel pretty comfortable he will fill out. But he might get a rude awakening in the NHL next season playing with guys who are north of 200lbs.
  21. I can barely remember the film but I remember feeling like Iron Man had made himself useless (and other superheroes) by creating an Iron Man army.
  22. So today in the Hogan vs Gawker trial, they are arguing about Bubba The Love Sponge. Bubba is trying to quash his subpena to testify for Gawker (which is weird) and has said if forced to do so, he will plead the 5th. He thinks he risks perjury because he initially told the FBI that Hogan knew about the filming but in his sworn deposition he said Hogan had no idea there were cameras filming.
  23. Agreed wholeheartedly!
  24. So, security replaced for enforcing company policy equally. If an Aboriginal security officer asks me to abide by company policy can I claim racism? Six weeks after he was unceremoniously kicked out of Portage Place, indigenous elder and military veteran Joseph Meconse was honoured and received a formal apology during a press conference Friday to announce changes to the downtown mall’s operation. “Today is a beautiful day and everybody around me is significant,” said the 74-year-old Meconse, who was kicked out the mall’s food court for loitering in late January despite having just sat down with a plate of food. “I’m just happy to be alive and happy to be here to stand up for our people and stand up for everybody.” Meconse was honoured Friday as the mall’s official Ogichidaa, an indigenous ambassador and liaison. Bear Paw Security will replace the former security firm, to bring indigenous values to the mall, and a new aboriginal music series is being launched this spring and summer in co-ordination with Manyfest. “Today, Portage Place will reach out to those we have wronged and in return we will ask for forgiveness,” said Portage Place general manager David Stone, who met with Meconse and Manito Ahbee Festival executive director Lisa Meeches following the incident to apologize. “I think the incident with Joe, I could call it a tipping point. But I think more of what came out of that incident with Joe was conversation: Conversation with Joe, conversation with Lisa and some of the leaders in the indigenous community.” In early February, Stone apologized for Meconse’s treatment and announced the elimination of the policy limiting patrons to only 30 minutes in the food court. In response to the incident, protests were held including a flash mob involving about 200 people. “This is a very important and significant day,” said Meconse. “I finally got what I was working for: to get the people to gather together to be friendly, be friends with everybody.” During the press conference Friday, Stone also took the opportunity to apologize to Annie Henry, a then-79-year-old from Roseau River First Nation who suffered similar treatment from Portage Place security in March 2013. “Most importantly, we would like to start the process of moving forward but apologizing for the errors of our past,” said Stone. A pipe ceremony and a round dance involving members of the downtown’s business and indigenous communities was held following the press conference. In his role as the mall’s Ogichidaa, Meconse would like to work with Portage Place to make it the welcoming place he feels it should be. He said he would like to see the mall add comfortable furniture its elderly shoppers to use. “My plan is to continue what I’m doing right now,” said Meconse. “At 74, as long as I can get something done today, that’s good enough. We don’t try to strive to get something (done) that we know we can’t handle. We have to know our boundaries and how far we can go.” GDawkins@postmedia.com
