  1. I own BE. Love it. I describe it to people as one of the writers/producers of Sopranos doing a re-telling of Sopranos but doing all the things the fans wanted but Chase never did (wife who cheats with an underling, war with New York etc). Sorry, Spoiler Alert. Love Bobby Cannavale as well. And I think i mentioned before I had never seen Juno Temple and now Im in love...
  2. I agree. Well not about Enstrom. But Melchiori had a good game save the one bad decision. Young, big kid. Playing well for the Moose. Probably wont be a top pairing D obviously, but I wouldnt write him off. Too many people either want every player to be top ten in the league or traded immediately.
  3. I'd say Dixie is the main reason. There is a reason her parents spent over $30 million funding TNA so she could be President rather then having her work in the family business (which she didnt do even before TNA). TNA had a great concept early on, with the X Division. Although if you go back and watch their early PPV's (remember, TNA didnt have TV, their concept was a weekly PPV) they did some awful things. They were actually out of business within months and Dixie saved the day by convincing her dad to buy TNA for her. She could have brought in Heyman. She was a mark for Hogan. Although Im a Bischoff fan so I liked the decision...it just didnt work out.
  4. I think the TNA death watch is on right now. Although they have risen from the dead a few times. Word is their parent company is no longer funding them which means they have to fund themselves. Their income is derived from their US TV deal, which on POP is an ad share (ie. POP doesnt pay them rights fees but TNA gets a share of revenue POP generates from ads), which is bad news because Spike dropped TNA in part due to the fact even though TNA was getting decent ratings, the ad buys were lower compared to non-wrestling programs of equal ratings. They also have a supposedly lucrative TV deal in India which might be the only thing keeping it afloat. But that deal requires them to tour India and they already cancelled one. Dixie has been working hard the past few weeks looking for investors but I cant imagine she will be successful. Just a couple of years ago they had a deal to sell to Toby Keith and Jeff Jarrett and the only sticking point was Panda Energy (TNA's parent company, owned by Dixie's parents) wanted Dixie to remain as an executive and character. Toby balked and the deal fell through. Surely they wish they had taken it now. I always thought their name alone was a terrible idea. Its a one note joke. And they've been bad for so long that "TNA" as a brand is tarnished. They'd probably do better if they just started from scratch. The question is, if TNA goes under, what happens. Will WWE value their library enough to try and buy it?
  5. Im not sure what you mean....
  6. Apparently Paramount pulled "The Little Prince" (or whatever its called) from release next week amidst rumors of them being broke! I havent seen too much about this other than on a couple of Trek forums I read though... some disconcerting opinions over the lack of marketing for the new Trek film too. Looks like Paramount is for sale too...
  7. Its a discussion forum, feel free to discuss. I have no power to lock threads so it's never "last word with TUP". But if someone addresses me, I would suspect its permissible to reply, no?
  8. That's a really interesting point. TNA actually was in negotiations with Paul Heyman to come in as executive producer and creative director. Basically he'd be in charge of all aspects of TNA and report to Dixie. But he wanted assurances that his word was final and he wanted ownership points in the company. Dixie balked on both. Heyman wouldnt go to TNA without those two things. Had TNA hired Paul, chances are Daniel Bryan and CM Punk would have been there. And there's a possibility Lesnar would have too. Jim Ross was potentially possible as well. Heyman wasnt even supposed to be back in WWE. They signed Brock without Paul but after a week or two of Brock cutting promos, they realised he needed a mouth piece and Brock wanted Paul who is his real life best friend and sort of agent (he gives him advice, even during his UFC days). Ofcourse none of this could be true. its just my opinion and I apologize if bringing up lesser known things offends anyone.
  9. Do you find the three hours of RAW makes it harder to engage and find it all entertaining? It seems somewhat exhaustive to a lot of people now...
  10. No kidding. I wish I was being paid to spend my entire morning replying to PM's.... when the simpler solution would be to let people DISCUSS wrestling as they seem to be doing. Interesting that its an admin taking this thread off topic. Anyway, back to good rasslin talk!
  11. Funny, i've heard that exact phrase said about many of your posts in the football thread. Comes with the territory though. Have I offended you by not capitulating to your insult towards me Mike? You came in here this morning and insulted me. And you seem angry I replied. That's "talking to a wall"? Some people need to grow up. Its a friggen message forum after all....lol
  12. Well as someone told me recently, it takes two to tango.
  13. You might be confusing our PM's with public posts, Rich. The only time I have stated that is in response to someone mocking me or questioning me. This "issue" is a self fulfilling prophecy by you guys. if I engaged in a discussion with someone in the football forum and they were actually involved in organized football at a professional level, I would like to know that. I'd appreciate knowing that. I might even look at his posts in a different, more knowledgeable light. I might even take the time to ask him questions or seek out his opinion. Sort of like when you gave me the resume of one of the posters here who is involved in football but then mocked my experience in wrestling (this was via PM). Im used to many people looking down on wrestling but would hope that stuff would be kept out of here since wrestling seems to be a popular topic. EDIT: The bolded part is also relevant to the current discussion, no?
  14. I keep hearing the radio commercials for Letterkenny that are generally funny but that clip didnt make me want to see it. Just seems sort of low brow. If anyone is still watching Vinyl, last night was another great episode. I was actually not convinced after the initial two hour (too long) premiere. But it gets better every week. Apparently they try to sign Elvis Presley in next week's episode...
  15. Well Mike, you certainly should be aware that text on a forum doesn't usually indicate emotional state of the writer (unless they state their emotional state). If everyone followed your advice to me there would never be *discussion* on this discussion forum. You would post an opinion and we'd either write "agree" or "disagree". No discussion. If you feel my reply about Owen was off base, please, express that. I happen to think it was a pretty good response using facts, trends, educated guesses and odds of certain things happening. I didn't say his opinion about Owen as a talent was wrong. If someone posts that Joey Elliott had more upside then Drew Willy and you responded with a post about why that's not true, should you be taken to task for that? I have as much right to express my opinion as Iso did. I just did it with more basis in fact. This is entirely an ridiculous argument/issue that has arisen. If you post that Owen Hart is your favorite wrestler I will never argue that he isn't. But if you post Owen would have surpassed Bret, that's not just an opinion, its a discussion point that has been presented for response. I didnt insult, mock or ridicule. I posted a logical, knowledgeable response. If the real issue that a couple of people are sheepish about discussing wrestling with someone with a lot of knowledge, that's not really a shot at me. Im sheepish about discussing football with you because you know a lot more than I do. But Im cool with that and I enjoy reading your opinion, news, analysis. If anyone thinks otherwise, Im really easy going. if that hasnt come across, I apologize. I love wrestling. I've been doing it for a long time. And I really enjoy the discussions about it. And since many other people seem to have perfectly reasonable discussions with me about it, I'd tend to think the few who get worked up is more about them than me. But everyone is free to PM me if they want to take exception to my tone or posts away from prying eyes...
  16. Regarding how BvS will open, here is a Latino Review report: On March 3, we published the initial box office outlook for BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. That report included early predictions based on pre-sales. Now Deadline has released updated projections, and they are very encouraging for Warner Bros. According to current pre-sales, BATMAN V SUPERMAN is outpacing DEADPOOL, THE AVENGERS, and is actually about on-par with THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. T hat last film ended up with a $160 million opening weekend. BATMAN V SUPERMAN, though, is still projected to land somewhere in the $140 million range, with a global cume between $300 and $340 million. On the demographic end, the audience is skewing heavily towards males (78%) between the ages of 18 and 49. 70% of those buyers will be seeing the film in its opening weekend. So the pre-sales are looking great, but the overall projections haven't shifted much. There's still reason to believe that these estimates are on the conservative end. 17. Well at the risk of *disagreeing* and getting flamed for it, I would tend to disagree. I actually used an exchange with you last week as an example in a private discussion about some complaints. I had said Hanson broke Bruno's back and you posted that you thought it was his neck (or vice versa, I cant remember off hand) and I replied that you were correct. I have ZERO problem with admitting Im wrong. And I love to read good discussion. Its extremely rare for me to get worked up or angry about a discussion here. I think what happens is some people (not many, but a few) perceive a counter opinion/point as a heated argument and they get worked up and begin to project those feelings. As I stated to someone earlier, no one complains about any posts I make in the hockey thread (and I've made a lot). The difference is, I am knowledgeable about wrestling. In a way, Mike, it would be like me, with limited football knowledge, taking you to task for your opinion/information/analysis of football and then complaining that you beat me in an "argument". Iso expressed an opinion that Owen could have surpassed Bret had he lived. I replied with a well-thought out counter point. I didnt insult, ridicule or mock him. I dont want to pile on Iso now because I've had many great discussions on here with him (and in PM) but either Im not supposed to take part in a discussion or I have to pretend to be stupid about a subject I have knowledge of. I was looking forward to Iso's retort about Owen actually.
  18. Neville suffered a broken angle in his match with Jericho on RAW after rolling the ankle on what should have been a simple "baseball slide" move. GIF's are floating around online. Looked very uncomfortable. The above post is my opinion and should not be taken as fact.
  19. I think the key is Lex.
  20. Cant agree more. Its really an issue WWE has had for awhile. When there was competition, they were forced to react more to what they thought the fans wanted. They reacted more to ratings trends. Now, the Network is their bread and butter and they arent overly concerned about ratings because they have a long contract with USA. But the difference is, they now see the fans as an impediment to what they do. The fans boo'ing Roman is not a reflection of Roman to them, it's an example of those "stupid fans not reacting right". And they tell themselves that 12,000 people in an arena arent reflective of 3 million people watching. Its rather absurd because there is nothing to lose by turning Roman heel (especially a year ago when it would have been hotter). If they had turned Roman a year ago, he'd probably in the midst of turning back and being a huge face. Hunter is a different scenario because of politics with Vince and his own ego. One thing to notice is how Ambrose came out and talked about how he gave Hunter a beating and Hunter came out not remotely selling anything from that match, I generally like strong heels (its how I book too) but Hunter doesnt just act like a strong heel, he devours his babyfaces.
  21. Hey Taynted, good discussion. Thanks for that! I was very annoyed when my PVR screwed up but I would never have bothered watching the live broadcast and the replay so the fact they were so quick to sweeten a reaction is very interesting!
  22. that's actually a really good point. We're making assumptions based off past incarnations of the character (and probably the CR films). Who knows what Snyder will do with Kryptonite...
  23. If they sweetened undertakers reaction but not Shane's that would be pretty telling....
  24. Really? Wow. Pittsburgh is a dead town. Tjere were some undertaker chants and when Shane came out there were Shane o Mac chants did they sweeten Shane's reaction??
  25. I like Spacey but he was a bit too serious for a character that was supposed to be Hackman's Luther. Lois was miscast. But superman was well cast.
