  1. Well in my pool I ended up with all Pens and Preds with one Panther and one Red Wing. So go Pens.
  2. I cant remember if I mentioned this year yet but here is a great TNA story. The company has been a money loser for ages, probably its entire existence. In fact the reason Dixie Carter is the President of the company is that back in 2002, the Jarrett's hired her to do PR for them. The business model at the time was NO television and just doing weekly PPV for $10. They thought they'd do 150,000 PPV buys per week but hovered around 10,000 buys per week. One of their production people gave them incorrect information about the buys leading them to believe they were doing way better than they were (it takes months for the PPV revenue to be paid out so the company had to pay all expenses of producing the shows for, say, six months before they got one cent back). When the Jarrett's realised the real PPV numbers, they were essentially bankrupt. Dixie, their PR person, then went to her parents who owned Panda Energy and convinced them to buy controlling interest of TNA and make her President. And that's what saved TNA after its first six months of existence, and how Dixie came to "own" it. Jeff Jarrett retained a minority interest. Fast forward a few years and Jarrett ends up in a secret relationship with Kurt Angle's wife (they were separated) and when the truth came out, there was loads of heat on Jeff to the point Dixie sent him home and Jeff's power in the company vanished. He ended up coming back some time later and working with Kurt but his behind the scenes power was gone, though he still owned part of the company. Last year Jarrett tries to buy TNA from Dixie's parents, backed by Toby Keith. Keith had appeared on an early episode of TNA's weekly PPV and was a good friend of Jeff's. Toby was willing to fund the purchase. The deal was all but agreed to, money worked out, everything...except Dixie's dad insisted Dixie be kept on as an on-screen character. When Jeff & Toby refused to promise that, the deal fell apart. They could have SOLD TNA for ACTUAL money but because they insisted their daughter be given a job, it fell apart. Now the company is practically worthless. Jarrett ended up making a deal to sell back his interest in the company in exchange for TNA promoting Jeff's new promotion Global Force Wrestling, which is in even worse shape than TNA. In fact, Jeff is somehow fronting a gold-selling company that has been called a ponzi scheme. So the most recent word is there IS a interested financial backer willing to buy into TNA but they want 51% and Dixie doesnt want to give up control. Supposedly, this backer has provided funds so TNA can at least keep meeting their TV taping costs. Without it, they are essentially dead in the water. So basically, this deal HAS to be made. Panda Energy stopped funding TNA...Dixie's parents turned off the gravy train. I'd be surprised if TNA lasted a year. But I also wouldnt be surprised if they went on "hiatus" with Dixie making regular announcements about TNA's impending come back that never ends up happening. I'd suspect WWE would be interested in acquiring the library and brands but you never know. WWE looks down on TNA in a very big way. But the content would be great for the Network.
  3. If anything it might end up taller. Still working out the details.
  4. I think if given a choice between Perreault and ladd they'd go with ladd. More versatility, great attitude. If ladd was 25 sure. But he's not. i suspect they will offer Perreault a deal. He will either take it or he will be traded. i also wonder how loyal he feels to the jets who gave him a good contract and plenty of opportunity to play in the top six when he was a UFA.
  5. Read elseware that its Vulture.
  6. I think they try to keep Perreault. He's versatile. Hard working. Skilled. Relatively young
  7. TNS is under construction. The re-cladding of 360 Main has already begun. Numerous condo projects are under way. Alt hotel is open. Glasshouse is nearly complete.
  8. Star Trek has a weird ownership. It's sort of split between Paramount and CBS and they don't really see eye to eye
  9. I think the betting line was not related to the films at all. And they really can't do TOS era whole TOS era is represented on film. i wa hoping for Robert April (pre-TOS but Post-Enterprise) or Enterprise B so I'm happy. Hopefully it's true. Its a great era to explore.
  10. Bray Wyatt injured on a house show minutes ago. Match was stopped and he was helped out. Looks like ankle. Bad timing if it's serious.
  11. I used to back in the early days and occasionally when it was on SPIKE. I got back into when they hired Hogan and Bischoff just to see what they'd do and ofcourse the new "Monday night war" (which didnt last long). Word is their show is a lot better now that they have limited means and talent.
  12. Some Star Trek Series rumors: - Set after Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. - Klingon will still be "bad" but possibly telling the story of the Klingon/Federation politics evidenced in TUC. - Likely means no Shatner cameo - Not taking place on the Enterprise - Series will be heavily serialized - Series could be an anthology where every season is a different time period.
  13. Goofy title but a double meaning. The teenage highschool dance meaning and homecoming of Spiderman back to Marvel CU.
  14. While an aunt could really be any age, it almost rings false for a 16 year old's aunt to be 70 years old. She was more of a grandmother. Marisa Tomei is 51 which is the "right" age for the sister of a parent of a teenage. Plus she's a great actress and gorgeous.
  15. Scheif comes in lower. Trouba comes in higher. Jets might spend more forecasting contracts like Pavs, Stafford coming off the books.
  16. $4m per year. How comfortable was he here, how comfortable is his family. How much is it worth? How bad is the pressure from the PA to go anywhere necessary to maximize the contract?
  17. That's a decent contract. 6 years would be ok too. Offer .5M more for one extra year. 7 for Trouba, 8 For Scheif.
  18. The Dr Strange trailer didnt sell me on seeing it. I looked up the character bio on Wiki as I was never familar with it. If anything, Benedict Cumberbatch would be the selling feature for me.
  19. Just bought tickets to my first ever ROH show. PPV in Vegas in August. Front row opposite the hard cam so I will be accepting sign suggestions! lol Trying to get tix for the TV the next night but the site is jammed.
  20. Was doing a Playoff Pool with some guys last night and it seemed the consensus in the room was the Jets would re-sign Ladd this off-season. I disagreed but was shouted down lol. The feeling is that he wont get the big money offers he is looking for and if other offers are similar to what the Jets would offer, he'd just as soon return to Winnipeg. Which led to a greater discussion on what would happen with the captaincy if Ladd did come back.
  21. Not only that but he legit speaks multiple languages. He'd be a great ambassador. Give him the IC title or bring back the European championship which would be perfect for him...
  22. More info on TNA Death Watch 2016. TNA's corporate offices were two floors of an office building in Nashville where Dixie had her PR Firm HQ before she bought TNA. In recent weeks, they moved out of the upper floor of the building into the basement where their TV production facilities were located. Its been reported that they have now been completely evicted from the building and are relocating the HQ into their merchandise warehouse. TNA is back to being behind on pay and has had trouble coming up with deposits for buildings. Dixie is frantically looking for an influx of cash. She reportedly has an offer for 51% of the company but doesnt want to cede control. TNA no longer runs house shows. They have stopped taping their TV on the road. They cancelled an India tour that they were contractually obligated to do. And their TV replay was cancelled and TNA was just told yesterday. In their two previous TV deals that were cancelled, the replay was the first thing to go. tick tock tick tock
  23. The knock on Cesaro, besides balding and being an internet darling, which Vince doesnt like, is he is a good worker but doesnt have "babyface fire". he's just a really good mechanical worker. He had the big spin but he's now adding other things like the running uppercut so he's adding some of those face spots. And the James Bond thing is pretty good though more of a Bond villain than 007 himself (his intro makes him look like Bond). He's really good though. Not sure I see him as a top guy. IC level if the IC level was good. Kevin Owens is gold. He will be world champion one day.
  24. One thing I did not notice watching RAW, but Bray is pinning his man and Sheamus is running in, right before the spear by Roman, Bray casually points (in a gun sign) at Sheamus without turning his head. It was subtle and amazing. Bray is a smart worker.
  25. Several Indy signing by WWE including Babatunde Alyegbusi a 6'9, 350lb former Vikings prospect. No one else of note other than Nikki Storm who I *think* I saw wrestle here but I cant quite recall. TNA lost their Tuesday night replay, which is never a good sign (they are never any good signs in TNA though). Dixie Carter is still trying to secure major investment. Supposedly she had someone willing to buy into the company but they wanted 51% and she doesnt want to give up control.
