  1. Tillman was close to coming here back in the day and he was a smug cock about it. Wasn't he also caught posting on fan forums under an alias defending himself? He has a massive ego and some serious mental health issues. His career is over
  2. Perhaps Burke intends Buck to be his man on the offence side of the ball. Let him know if crowton is as clueless as he seems The land behind the stadium was mentioned. Not sure what the u of m has planned but I'd sell that to True North in a deal for them to take over operations of the team. Real estate development is their big thing right now. For sure they need a parking lot for 5000 cars. I believe they are planning a dedicated transit loop there too. Creating new ingress and egress for the campus would be nice and some housing and retail development.
  3. Are you sure? My understanding is the issue in question was no public dollars could be invested in a covered entertainment venue of a certain size. Thats why any talk of a roof on the new stadium was a non-starter. And I distinctly remember it being said if the Stadium was 100% private dollars, they could put a dome on it if they wanted to. You can't force private business to adhere to an agreement between TN and the GOM. It would be subject to anti-competition laws. Im sure the agreement was specifically relating to public dollars. But while we're on this subject, can the GOM turn over the Bombers to TN? Keep the Stadium since TN wont go anywhere near that $200 M debt. It's small potatoes for TN and there is little to know real estate development linked to the new Stadium due to it being on Campus, but we need to get rid of this do-nothing board that hired a salesman to be CEO over-seeing football decisions, hired a GM who had been out of the CFL for decades etc etc.
  4. He clearly wasn't told that he;d be a Player-Coach and working with Crowton to develop the other QB's. So why wasn't that explained to him? Sounds to me like a cop out to soften the blow in the media. If the Bombers were serious about Buck transitioning to a coach role, they would have told him, fully explained and encouraged his feedback. So who told Buck about the demotion and who told Burke about the player-coach role? Because it cant be that Burke told Buck and didnt tell him about the coaching aspect or why would he say that today? Did Joe Mack sit Buck down and then relay the conversation to Burke and exaggerte what happened? If he did, he hung his Head Coach out to dry. If Burke and Buck sat down to have that conversation, one of them is an idiot, either maliciously or through plain old stupidity.
  5. Buck's demotion isnt about injuries. Sure, he had that abdomen injury but he dressed the following week. Goltz got hurt his first start. This about playing ability and I agree Buck has not played up to snuff but this team has been flat lousy around him too. What was that stat with Buck before this season, team was 13-3 with him finishing a game. He was a winner. And when they lost it wasnt because he crapped the bed, its because they're a bad team. This might provide some consistency but we still have a bad O line, bad OC, bad DB's, lack of maturity and leadership, a rookie head coach, a rookie CEO and a GM that knows he's gone by the end of the season if not next week.
  6. Give Buck a few days to cool off. He's a warrior, proud and chances are the situation wasn't fully explained to him. And it wouldnt surprise me if he had been told all along he was the man.
  7. I said he has shown "flashes" and was asked to justify that. He also moved the ball before being injured.
  8. Home opener, 3rd quarter, Buck played great. Its a tough situation for Buck because unless he's ready to accept that his playing career is over (and more power to him if he thinks he can play, thats a personal decision or realization that every QB has to come to on their own), he's being honest in his answers. Is he supposed to say "Yes Im too hurt to play, just like Coach says. Yes, I'm thrilled to transition to coaching as my playing days are over, just like Coach says". He's being honest about how he feels. We also dont know what he's been told. Who's to say Mack or Burke didnt come to him last week and say "Buck we know you can play but you're banged up so lets give the kid a start. Trust me, you're our number one guy all season." And if he was told that (and surely he was told something), then today gives him every right to be angry.
  9. If he was told before the season started that he was the #1 QB this season, I can see why he's angry. Has he played great? No. But we know he *can* play great and he's shown flashes (albeit briefly) this season also. If I'm him I'm saying "What more can I do? You tell me I'm number 1, you dont do jack about the horrible O line, you have an idiot for O Co-Or, our plays are predictable, we've eliminated the run game and half my receivers have been injured this year". I'm not saying we dont need an improvement at the QB position but it's not like Buck has had a great situation to work with here. And if Goltz is able to do anything it will simply be because he can run away from all the trouble coming his way moreso than Buck. But that doesnt mean our O line is suddenly better or the OC suddenly has a clue. This situation is becoming another circus. And Clown Shoe Butchko better his arms around it damn fast. PS: Wish the government would beg True North to become the "operators" of the team and stadium. Someone has to be truly accountable, not a board of dimwits. You've got legit football people on that board, what are they doing to correct this? The CEO is a glorified salesman. The GM is a Dead Man Walking and he knows it. The Head Coach is a brillient DC in way over his head this year and he has no help from his Coordinators. What the hell is going on??
  10. Uh oh So now Buck has come out and is "angry, frustrated" and has suggestd he might be playing for another team by September. Doesn't sound like the "he took it very positively" that Burke said this morning. What in the blue hell is going on with this franchise. Buck also said he didnt know he'd be grooming young QB's. I wonder, does he mean he didnt expect that coming into the season and now to justify this change, the management have said "well come on Buck, we always intended for you to groom these young guys" or he meant it was not expressed to him this morning? The one thing I can say is, a hungry Buck is likely not a bad thing. He will push Goltz. But I hope he embraces his new role and helps Crowton. Or not. I guess maybe its better for Crowton to just be canned.
  11. If this is truly the end of the Buck era, the guy deserves a lot of thanks and appreciation by this fanbase. He's a true warrior who would crawl on the field if they let him. He plays good football behind a terrible O-line that might have contributed to the end of his career. And he never complained. If he's being a good solider and taking on a player-coach role and truly embraces it, he's giving to the organization once again. I dont think this is a set up to release Buck. I think its QB insurance AND if they really do feel Buck has a career as a coach ahead of him, then good on them for developing him into that role. I would love to see Buck here in some regard for years to come.
  12. Surely Bombers will make changes. But will wait for bye week
  13. The Sun bashing is ridiculous and unfair. It's not like the Free press is some shining example of journalistic integrity in everything they do. If you don't like the Sun then don't read it. But don't insult those that do. I love the Sun. Aside from a couple of people with the Freep (Lawless included) I have no time for that paper. Far too arrogant and entitled.
  14. You think they would start Max Hall over a healthy Buck Pierce? Come on....
  15. Where's Doug Berry? I guess mike Kelly is available.
  16. I agree that Clown Shoe shouldn't be front and centre. I mean who really cares about his "expert" opinion when he has none. This is Burke's and Mack's team and they should be front and centre.
  17. I'm not a Mack hater at all. But this is ridiculous (unless there's a legitimate reason). Burke doesn't shy away. He has to answer for the record on the coaches show. Mack should show leadership and nut up.
  18. WEC almost single handedly killed the Jets. How Barry Shenk managed to keep them here as long as he did is testament to his dedication. WEC ran the arena. Jets had to pay rent and WEC got all revenue generated at true arena and parking. Plus concerts etc. it was a joke. I don't believe TN contractually runs all concerts. I think it's just a business relationship where they choose to hold stadium concerts at the stadium and rent it or whatever.
  19. I can't see true north taking the stadium debt. It's one thing if it was their sole venture but taking on that kind of debt when they have so much tied up with the jets would be too much. It would have to be a scenario where they weren't guaranteed to pay the debt. A CFL team just isn't huge business compared to the jets and their other interests. It could certainly be a nice revenue stream but only if it was clearly profitable Had the stadium been built in headingly TN might be more interested. But is love to see it. Maybe as part of the deal TN would be given more VLTs to guarantee the debt servicing aspect of revenue. Then it's a no brained
  20. It's idiotic to assume they would have the exact same on field performance with TN as owners. New owners equals new visions equals new CEO equals new GM equals new coaches. But same performance? That is just plain stupid. If you're point is to criticize Jets management for how they have managed the Jets than best you stick to football.
  21. The ridiculous amount of injuries aren't helping.
  22. Stupid comment about the jets. I long suggested the government should have gone to True North with hat in hand when Asper backed out of the stadium. But TN won't want to inherit a $200 million debt for a facility with little to no development and revenue options above and beyond game revenue. MTSC and the jets have allowed TN to invest heavily on the downtown area and generate increased revenue streams. With IGF on campus there are no real options for that.
  23. Lol. Troll. Goltz looked like a back up QB. Buck starts next week. Burke let him off the hook because the D was worse than the O this week and Burke clearly takes that more personally. I'd assume no changes until the bye week and then crowton has to go. Period.
  24. Can't really houseclean if we have a shot at Dickenson next season. But if we fire crowton now who replaces him? Lapo? Berry?
  25. I guess max hall is the greatest QB to never start now. Where are all the Goltz'ers? Ride out this season if we have a shot at Dickinson in the off season. Otherwise fire crowton Would lapo come back? Berry? As OC
