  1. If we had a better O line, few injuries on receiver and a better CFL style Offence designed to take advantage of his skillset, do you believe he'd fail? Or is it just the injury issue? Max Hall got hurt in one game this season. It happens to everyone. Buck was ready to come back. I wouldnt hang "injury" on him this year.
  2. So Goltz is the number one then? Oh... Mike, if I recall correctly, you were very pro-Buck until last season when you switched to Joey (as did I). Buck got us to the Grey Cup, then in came Crowton and whatever was going on between him and Lapo. It's all moot now because niether of us make the decision. But we've seen a QB get run out of town that everyone wished we had back and it just seems silly to repeat that mistake until a bonafide starter actually arrives. Even if Buck was gone, would we go into next season with Goltz & Hall and without a veteran? Never a bad idea to have a veteran, even if his best days are behind.
  3. Maybe I just believe in a great comeback story. But I wasn't on the dump Glenn bandwagon either when everyone was so happy to see him cut in favour of an unproven third stringer. Part of me is excited to see a proven CFL OC design and call plays for Buck and then we will see how much was Crowton and how much was Buck. Im willing to bet more Crowton than Buck. And yes, if he starts and plays poorly, I'd absolutely admit it. He's the number one QB until someone takes it from him and thus far, no one has. I hope Hall does this week. I just dont think he will.
  4. To the person who said the season is lost because of Buck, how many games did Goltz and Hall win? I think we all agree Crowton was bad. His system was bad. His play calling was bad. The O line is mostly bad. If we assume there will be some sort of improvement now, I'd just as soon reset the QB position and go with the veteran. I would think the veteran CFL QB who has won before would be the QB most able to adjust with the changes Marcel will need to make this week. Either way, if Hall is who Marcell and Burke want, so be it. My feeling is, Hall will not play well, we will not win and we will be back with Buck next week anyway. And my feeling (again) is Buck will play better. I could be wrong. But I dont think we write off Buck given the challenges of this offence this season. He deserves the opportunity to sink or swim and if he sucks, I'll be the first one on here saying so. I just think starting Hall or Goltz means this season is a wash and Im not confident either guy is here next year.
  5. Wrong choice. And by the time the team realises it, the season will be truly lost. But I hope Hall has a hell of a game.
  6. One more loss this week means Buck starts for a team that much closer to not making the playoffs. I want Hall to win but he won't. It's like Nero fiddling while Rome burned. By the time they go back to the veteran, the season will be lost. Even worse, if Hall is "okay", they release Buck the following week and then Hall stinks it up. I dont know...not a fan of the move. Ti-Cats are going to be salivating at Hall's floaters.
  7. I feel like Buck deserves an opportunity with a legitimate CFL offense (or as close as we are going to get). If he stinks the joint out, ill be the first to admit it.
  8. I dont disagree with you Mike. If the staff held a presser and said "We deem this season a write-off and will now audition players for next season" then they should not start Buck (though depending on what happens the rest of the season I still think he has value as a veteran back up next year). But I dont want to hear the season is a write off when we're two points out of a spot. The QB issue should be decided in the off-season, training camp, pre-season games. And hopefully you play well enough that your back up gets some playing time when you're winning games big, the occasional injury etc. Isnt that a better way to develop than throwing every kid against the wall and hoping one of them sticks?
  9. TSN 1290 saying it's Hall or Buck. Goltz stock has dropped. Must be something other than what we see.
  10. I disagree. Kives is the best writer that paper has by a country mile. What, would you prefer Paul "I write in Morse code" Wiecek or Gary "I write in soundbites" Lawless? Even better, Gordon "I love to write about my rich friends and the plight of Aboriginals who aren't my friends" Sinclair? Lawless is the best thing the Freep has going for it and I'd much rather read his opinion on sports than Kives.Nothing personal, he was just a crazy little hothead to a friend of mine during the PorkGate scandal that the Freep tried to sweep under the rug and I find him very negative. For example, during the first couple of games at IGF, he would re-tweet every negative remark about traffic but ignore every postive one. To me, that's spinning the story in a way he wants it to be, not neccisarily the way it truly is.
  11. I think he met had a year left after last season. Didnt he come in for the 2012 season? Makes this his second and final year.
  12. I hope we bring in Glenn too. Then we can copy and past all the venomous buck posts and replace his name with Glenn. So more than 50% of fans want Buck to get hurt? Are we just making up stats now?
  13. I would say owning the TD building is pretty successful but then again maybe you judge success differently. I'm sure your bank account is a lot larger than Asper's. And I don't get the venom to him for trying to get a new stadium built. He wasn't able to pull it off. At least he tried and his efforts drove the bus that eventually got us IGF.
  14. It was more tongue in cheek. They seem pretty dysfunctional in Edmonton too and reed is a weird cat.
  15. I don't get the hysteria over Buck. Let me ask you this. If they start Buck and he wins will you still never buy a ticket? I mean get a grip.
  16. That wasn't my point at all. My point was I'd be happy with him as an owner. My point was to wonder why we hate a successful businessman with wide-spread connections, lots of money and who would do anything to see the team succeed. And the only responses on that point were nonsense about his dad and his brother.
  17. Asper's "poor job on the Stadium" is why we have a Stadium right now. He runs the successful Creswin. Some people just hate for the sake of hate. How dare that family be successful and wealthy. They suck!
  18. If we're giving up on the season, then I guess sure, sacrifice the games to decide Hall & Goltz arent the answer. But we're two points out of the playoffs.
  19. if he was injured and could not play, he would not have been dressed. Period. He said so himself that he was healthy and able (I realise most players will say that but when a player is injured, he knows he is injured). I think it was far more likely that Mack made the call to start Buck and they used the excuse that Buck was "banged up" with the intent that Goltz would play well (someone somewhere, likely Mack, thought the issue was the QB not the OC) and then there would be no controversey because everyone would want the best QB start. When that didnt happen and Burke maybe wanted to go back to Buck, Mack came up with the "new starter for rest of season" plan.
  20. So if your brother has a business go sour we can assume you're inept? He runs Creswin. Is that not a successful business? Lots of reasons for the downfall of CanWest and many people will point to Izzy's rapid expansion, not the leadership of Leonard. But CanWest has little to do with this issue.
  21. Yes he has ... Which game did he miss? I dont recall any game where he was not dressed and ready to play.
  22. I didnt watch the presser so I dont know the context. Could he have meant they have done things to keep Buck sharp? ie. "how can you consider starting Buck this week when he's had no playing time?" "Because there are ways to keep him sharp". ie. He IS sharp and ready to play.
