  1. I think the issue is the distraction. I dont think this season has been fair to any of the three QB's, to be fair. The O has looked bad no matter who is there. We just fired the OC. It's been acknowledged that his system didnt fit the CFL. We can't point to Buck's injury history as an issue this season because he hasn't missed a game due to injury. If he starts this week and plays well, then what? it's entirely possible. It's also possible Goltz would play better under Marcel. But all things being equal (and they arent anyway), I'd go with the only QB we have with CFL experience and the only QB we have that has ever won anything.
  2. Did Burke keep Crowton around? Is it not accepted that Mack kept him around to go along with his American approach to the game? Mack gets canned, Marcel gets hired. Clearly that was the succession plan. They needed Marcel to wrap his head around this thing before canning Crowton. Burk publicly suggested he wanted a consultant to come in on the offence several weeks ago. I'd say Burke wanted changes.
  3. Assume we go with Buck. Makes sense. Changes to the offense, short week to get it done, new OC. Better to have the veteran in there. WHomever you like at QB, I think we can agree the veteran is likely to have a better understanding of a revamped offence. I think it somewhat eliminates a distraction too. Sure, the QB position will be a distraction until we have a bonafide starter but putting Buck back in almost seems like a calming move at this point. The QB controversey and switching from guy to guy is closely related to the upheavel of the Mack era. That is behind us now. Best to reset things, go with the veteran, calm the issue down and get back to playing. If Buck struggles, then Goltz goes in, just as he would have at any point in the season.
  4. Do we hate David Asper because he's from a wealthy family or because he couldn't get the Stadium deal done? I'm not sure yet. Personally, my feelings on Asper are, here is a guy that bleeds blue & gold, is a very successful businessman, comes from a very successful business family, has a ton of contacts and good will in the business community (always a good thing when hiring and asking for corporate support) and did everything he could do build a new stadium and own this team, including being willing to pay a heck of a lot more than the team was worth. So if firing Buchko, Mack & Crowton are examples of his influence, I'm all for it. He screwed up when he was caught physically confronting the coach a few years back but honestly, how many of us wanted to do the same thing? He was emotional because he wanted success. He paid his price.
  5. That's nonsense. How dare Burke tell the truth. He clearly didn't agree with the decision to start Hall but have Crowton the opportunity to pick his poison. And he was right.
  6. Buck should start next week and is have Hall as number 2.
  7. The question of who starts next week is very likely dependant on who is running the offence. Can't see how Crowton keeps his job. It likely means Buck starts next week.
  8. Tim Burke has to fire Crowton of he's going to be the one fired.
  9. To be fair, Goltz would need to start as many games as Buck to get a true comparison. Too many variables including injuries, offensive scheme, available players versus injuries etc. I'm not down on Goltz. I just think Buck deserves a shot at a comeback. We saw what happened to Calvillo with a bad system.
  10. Oh come on. Joey and brink had their chance and weren't going to make it. I wonder where we'd be right now if Kelly hasn't thrown lefors into a horrible offensive system.
  11. I'm all for developing a QB. But it's silly to cut your only veteran QB and the only QB on the roster who has ever won until you have even a bonafide number two.
  12. Who exactly are you arguing with? The stats are just a snapshot in time. Remember when everyone thought Kevin Glenn sucked? Remember when everyone thought Joey was he answer? If Buck starts next week and is awful, point taken. But if he starts and is good then what?
  13. I can see many arguements between Goltz vs Buck but Buck's lack of TD's isnt one of them since they often used a package at the goal line that saw Goltz go in for the run, thus lowering Buck's TD's totals.
  14. Mike I'm all for planning for the future. I was a big Joey Elliott fan and wanted him to start last season. I'm being a realist. buck is better than Goltz. We will see about Hall. I just remember how bad we all thought Glenn was. Buck deserves an opportunity to rebound, especially if no one else we have is better. I believe in developing a QB not throwing them to the wolves. If buck stats next week and plays well and wins a bunch of games is it still a good idea to cut ties? I won't even mention injuries since he missed less than half a game due to injuries this season (Goltz first start, Buck also dressed).
  15. If Hall is worse than Goltz & Buck, who do you start next week? If it's me, I go with the veteran. Glenn was played out but sure proved to have something left in the tank. I'm not willing to write off the only QB we have that has ever won (or even shown to have talent to win).
  16. Without Simpson, Garrett is likely the starter over Ford. But with Simpson, we don't need Garrett. Save us some coin and let the kid go play somewhere. Buck is here because thus far, he's our best option at QB.
  17. Clearly Glenn deserved the chance to make a comeback and prove he was a quality QB that could win I feel Buck deserves the same. And unless Hall inexplicably lights it up I suspect we will se Buck sooner rather than later.
  18. Don't let Irrational lawless hate cloud the reality here. No reason for Lawless to lie and he said it while trying to make a point and didn't want to dwell on it but his co-host insisted on discussing it. I don't have trouble believing Burke wanted Glenn. And that doesn't mean he dislikes Buck. He just felt Glenn was better. I could see Mack feeling all things being equal Buck was better (and I don't disagree with him necessarily when Buck was healthy). His "fixing the QB position" was giving Crowton full control and an off season to plan an offence to suit Bucks skillset. What I find odd is that Burke keeps saying everyone was in agreement about hall but that the discussion was heated. When I agree with people those conversations are never heated. I sort of think Burke was the lone voice against this move and that's where the heat came from. Burke is smart. If hall lights it up, Burke is the head coach with wisdom enough to trust his OC. If Hall is terrible, Burke just gave Crowton all the rope he needs to hang himself.
  19. It was reported all over this morning that it was Burke who hired Marcel.
  20. Who called Marcel is only important in the sense it's another example of mixed messages and contradictions which itself is another example of the dysfunction going on here.
