Dropping the price of tickets across the board would be a great start, make attending games more family friendly, no one wants to seat next to a fat drunken slob spouting fouls language and acting like an idiot.

.....basically they want to play exhibition games against CFL teams in the States, which is insane, and Naylor basically laughed at it. I'm not sure what exactly we have to gain from any of it except money, if they're going to pony up a whole bunch. Those guys want in on our TV exposure for their players, I think...

Maybe get your own house in order first. Do you think either country is going to let teams go back and forth across the border at will. The NHL might be faced with the same potential problem. That is why the a Blue Jays are likely going to play all their games in the US.

I would have to think that school boards, local health officials and government would have the final say on school activities. They aren’t going to take risks.

I would be shocked if there are school sports this year. I will also be shocked if they're back in class at full capacity too.

That is a tough one....if you are forced to shut it down early into it that would be a significant additional financial hit.

I don't know the answer to that. That's the big question - shut it down? Or stay the course?
League has to decide that with the players, coaches and staff. And, the policy needs to be in place prior to everyone getting together.

All valid suggestions.....the word is that given no FA camps and no mini camps initial TC rosters may exceed 100. Dickinson in Sask says he’s looking for 3-4 replacements. 4 exhibition games  2 of them at home was a tough sell to season ticket holders. Vets loved it when it got cut down to 2 games. Hard to show your potential as a rookie given limited playtime. It needs to be run as a business....if blowing it up and starting over means it survives so be it.

    So much misinformation.
Being covid free when you test, doesn't mean being covid free forever. You're not cleared as covid free.
Every time you go out, or your family goes out, or anyone you come in contact with goes out, you can catch it. Even if the players were in lock down, the cleaning staff, the food services staff, the laundry staff, the equipment staff, the coaches, the assistants, etc. won't be locked down. Any one of them could bring covid into the quarantine zone. That's how covid got into care homes.
Putting a lot of people together is how "super-spreading events" or disease clusters happen. It's how how covid spread in the Alberta meat processing industry and how it would spread if anyone brought it in from the outside in the CFL. In that case the whole team would have to go back into 14 day self isolation and give up 2 games in the process.
Covid-19 is not transmitted through "prolonged physical contact". The CDC's site says: "The virus that causes COVID-19 is thought to spread mainly from person to person, mainly through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Spread is more likely when people are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet)." The Mayo Clinic and Web MD agree with the CDC and add a bunch of other useful information about spreading Covid. None of them talk about so called 'prolonged physical contact" In football, all the players are within 6 feet of one another for most of the game and I'd argue that 3 or 4 hours is prolonged exposure anyway.
Covid-19 is floating out there. It's also on surfaces where it can live for up to 3 days. No, it's not 'looking for hosts' because it can't look for anything. It is waiting for hosts to come in contact with it. It will then infect them and no it doesn't matter if you're young or fit. Covid doesn't 'know' any of that. Young folks do have the highest survival rate. Because they can fight the virus, they are more likely to continue to work when they are infected, which in turn makes it more likely that they can pass it on to others who don't have as high a survival rate.
Football players aren't like store clerks. They can't hide behind Plexiglas partitions. The can't social distance. They can't just walk quickly by other people and turn their heads away. Players are constantly in very close contact with other players. Therefore, players should wear masks at all times and no, not the crappy home made ones that only stop 5% of the transmission. The professional grade ones that stop 95% of the transmission.

The notion of a Hub cities works for the NHL because they don’t need fans in the arenas for it to work. Realistically the CFL needs fan in the stands. This doesn’t really work under the Hub city format.

Aside from misguided pride, remained me again why we would want the CFL playing here in pandemic situations? We wouldn't be able to go to the games either way, and being a "hub city" would the risk of COVID-19 in Winnipeg as players from other provinces would be traveling in from outside.

Toronto is the media capital of Canada, and there needs to be a franchise there for the league to get a media deal. I hate it, but it's the reality.

Anyone trying to claim they know the financial stability of a team they don't have access to at minimum the most recent financial statements for is just spewing nonsense... just because the owner also owns an NHL team or some other venture means absolutely nothing, even if this preconceived notion would indicate said owner has the financial means to keep a CFL franchise afloat, there's nothing stopping them from scuttling it regardless, even if they just thought it was bleeding too much.

I can't understand why the players associations would ever agree to their lives being put at such high risk...... and don't say $$$ because they've already got more than enough, and I can't see them risking their lives over it.

You can talk about venues all day long, but the issue for me is how do you play a contact sport like football where guys are constantly spitting and otherwise transmitting viruses to each other...? There is no way to play a sport like football safely. And all it takes is one guy testing positive and the whole thing is shut down, right? I'm still waiting for an answer to that one....for football AND hockey.
