I never expect to win Labour Day but got my hopes up at the end this game. D failed to make a stop and we cost ourselves at least 6 points with the INT and the intentional grounding.
No Cory Watson for the Riders, they're going with the two rookies. Takes away a safety valve for Fajardo and Watson is a pretty good blocker too if I recall correctly.
I don't get why they didn't put Santiago on, take K.Jones off and then add D.Wright for Harris instead of Malcolm Williams. Gives you another running back and a NI to contribute on teams. Still allows you to use a DI on a DB and DE.
If you're a CFL team is it better to sign a lot of guys who you have for a short time but lose to NFL opportunities or is it better to sign excellent CFLers who will not get NFL looks?
There is some truth to Brown's comments. We don't run an offense where many wr will flourish. It's basically been Adams. Lapo's system seemingly doesn't allow for 3-4 wr to excel like Calgary's and Edmonton's do.
Baumming said that Matthews was at $107,000 for this year in salary and that the club saved $50,000 by cutting him now. What more does one want for evidence?
The worst game with Burke was the BC one with Boltus where BC had at least 2 tds on defense and I was wondering what the record for defensive touchdowns in a game was and whether we would break it. Oh and if Boltus would set a turnover record. Worst game I ever went to live.
History has taught me to be pessimistic about the LDC, I still have nightmares from the 2002 Rocky Butler game (so frustrating to see live). However with everything going on right now, this week feels like we are playing with house money.
From Penton's column this week and the Insiders:
" (Willie) Jefferson is a ***** to play against, but (Drake) Nevis is the most underrated defensive player in our league. He’s a ******* stud in the middle. He gets up-the-gut pressure. Requires a double team. Makes it a lot easier for the guys on the edge when you have a dominant player inside like Nevis. "
