/puts on Bomber jersey and paints his face What if Walters is actually the best candidate? How many CFL guys have his knowledge of the Canadian game, it's players and the CIS system? There are other interesting candidates, but we know that the easier part of this job is finding the Americans. Mack's downfall wasn't the American talent (though it is apparent that isn't as good as I initially thought) but rather his inability to find a QB, a HC and Canadians (a group that improved with Walters running the show). /wipes paint off I'm not saying give him the job. I'm not even in favour of having him run this club. I don't think it's nearly as crazy as it seems though.

Would be so nice to have new DBs brought in.
-
If he can even just interrupt the DL a bit he's an upgrade on our right side of the line.

I think Goltz played well - until his game fell apart near the end. He was trying to do too much at the end, because the game was quickly slipping away.
-
Well at least we kept it under 100. Burke: "I thought we'd be better on defense today." If only we had a defensive coach to straighten things out...

Let's keep it under a 100!

Replays are so rare at Bomber games, it is probably my biggest issue with the new stadium.

Mack Coulda Had Ray or Burris
Captain Blue replied to NotoriousBIG's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Bet that decision has already been made. We just don't know it. It's the Bomber Way. Despite Miller saying everything to the contrary... I've known Wade for 20 years. Very smart, hard working guy -- also HIGHLY calculating. I'm getting increasingly skeptical of our upcoming "exhaustive" GM search... Let me get this straight: Wade Miller, known for running successful businesses, is going to take over this dumpster fire of a team, and then hand the GM job to the assistant to the guy he just fired? Without doing his due diligence? I'm skeptical of that. -

Holy balls this organization is a mess. This isn't the same crap spewed by Lawless over and over again - when Tait comes out with this stuff it's carries a lot of weight. I like Walters a lot. It still makes me uneasy that he's in the race for the GM spot, but he does seem like a rising star. I might not hate the move. -
Sure then let's sit him down to protect him so he can do more tv commercials. Is that the excuse now if he craps out?? I am not saying to sit him down, but I don't care to argue this since I know I'm just going to get more ISO-RAGE.

This is nothing more than just motivational talk masquerading as wisdom. Unless he can block, throw and catch at the same time, Goltz is reliant on others around to help him succeed. There are things he can control, clearly, and needs to do so to have success. That does not mean if he doesn't thrive in this gong show on Sunday he can't become more than what he currently is. Sorry, it must be those motivational websites I spend all day reading. But wouldn't you agree that if he wins this game it could jumpstart his career like no other game could? I see an opportunity for a young guy. I know it looks bleak but these are still all pro football players who have all won games in the past, and they've now got a couple weeks in Bellefeuille's offence. It won't be easy but he'll be right in the conversation with Collaros and BLM as the "next big thing" if he pulls out a big game. I'm not sure a win really jumpstarts his career, but I do think people will pull a 180 on their opinions at that point. Regardless I understand your point - if Goltz wins this game he'll make a name for himself. I don't think you'll find many people that think the Bombers have a real chance at winning this game (though nothing is impossible) and as a result that would seem to indicate that the team as a whole is a mess. Crucifying Goltz for a loss here is likely going to be misdirected.

You said last, not me. And hey, if he WINS, then there can't really be any debate, can there? I believe my sarcastically written comment indicates that maybe judging Goltz on wins and losses isn't completely fair, seeing as everyone including him will have to share in the blame. I fail to see how any young QB can succeed in this scenario, but that won't stop fans from burying Goltz (and then Hall, once he gets the nod again). Great QBs thrive on adversity. Mediocre QBs make excuses and beg for patience. This is nothing more than just motivational talk masquerading as wisdom. "One last chance"? With a crappy offensive line, new and/or awful receivers and an OC who's been here three weeks, how can he NOT succeed in that scenario?! Oh, and the opposing team is one of the league's best. What a great situation for Goltz!

Greg "The" Peach Signs with Bombers, Freddie Harris Released
Captain Blue replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Ok but how about when you're throwing 50% in practice and in games? Then what? If he's not improving in practice then he's not going to get any better in games. Please. I've been to practice and training camp dozens of times over the last 3 years and he looks the same as he did on day one. Overthrows and underthrows the most balls of any QB we've had here in that time. It's naive to think it will get better by playing in games. Well then if he's looked the same to you then I guess that's settled. I will definitely not believe the other reports that Goltz has improved, since you have now clearly said he hasn't. Believe what you want to believe... I really don't care. I know what I've seen and the coaches' reluctance to start Goltz backs it up. Our coaches are definitely known to make smart decisions on personnel. -

If Collaros looks good does Toronto re-sign him and protect him? This is going to be interesting.

I am just curious to know why this team hates Goltz so much. Out of the three has the best physical skillset (obviously you need more than that) but he also provides a lot more flexibility in the game plan. Boltus possesses a similar skillset and they just brought him in, yet Goltz doesn't get any love. -
The Legend of Khari Jones

Khari was great, until age and injuries caught up to him. -
That is one craptacular starting WR lineup.

What a terrible ruling. Complete and utter BS.

It's not so much that I dislike the move for this season - Peach if healthy will be better than Harris - but I'd rather approach the rest of the season as a training camp. I want to find long term solutions, and Peach isn't likely going to be one. I understand why they prefer this method though, as my job isn't on the line. -

Pierce being hurt is a blessing. This team is an utter mess, and with all the new players, the QBs who get the practice time are the ones that need to play. It's a sad state of affairs but with Goltz and Boltus the only guys out there with several new players and presumably some new schemes from MB you have to roll with what you have. Hopefully Hall gets out there soon. At one point the QBs had to practice zone-read handoffs. Now I haven't been to camp for a while so perhaps they do it everyday (likely) but it also struck me as something that indicates how far we have to go. DeAngelis and McKnight kicked field goals after practice. Both were solid from inside and at 40, a little shakier outside the 40. DeAngelis dropped one about 10 yards short at one point and then McKnight followed that up by putting one maybe five yards short. For the most part they were a lot stronger than those two kicks indicated.
