  1. If the team has extra bodies hanging around, putting in real time, working real jobs, and getting paid a job appropriate wage with no other reimbursements from the team, I have no issue with this.

If the team is subsidizing housing, subsidizing the food, and/or getting club boosters to pay guys for hanging out, I have a problem with this.

At the end of the day, these players should be able to be scouted by competing teams, and contractually, are free agents and can sign anywhere.

    Players gotta eat too.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier...Looks like we may be in for shite weather Friday night. But even if not, sitting on the West side or South end zone will be best because the East side gets treated to a pretty brutal sun glare for the first half.

Hopefully weather cooperates, because if weekend traffic combines with rain, a big concert and a Jays game... we're all boned.

Thanks for the heads up, Bluto.

The way this year has been going, if there is a chance of a storm (and a lightning delay), we'll get it.  I survived the 2.5 hr delay last week, left the stadium at 1 am, drove back to Brandon and went to work the next day.  I'm sure I can handle another one.

If you see a tall guy wearing a new Moe Leggett 31 jersey and a white Blue Bombers hat, say hello to me.

I had a game worn Kerwin Bell jersey with that blue/green/red patch on the shoulder, anyone remember what the patch said? I was just a kid and remembered hating Kerwin so much that I tried ripping the "Bell" off the back of the jersey :P

Keep it.  Kerwin Bell is known best for 3 things in football:

    1.  First QB to wear a helmet cam in a game.

    2. He had a perfect QB rating in his only NFL regular season game, and never passed another ball. He went on to finish 5-of-5 passing for 75 yards and the score -- making him the only full-time quarterback in NFL history with a perfect career passer rating, 158.3, claim to fame No. 2 -- and never played in the league again.

    3.  The video: "Quarterback spikes ball and hits himself in the nuts" versus the Bombers.  He also got flagged for unsportsmanlike on the same play.

Id say the rum hut would be delighted by the delay but they too are shut down during the delays.  Gotta wonder if they build some kind of shelter to protect it so it can stay open. not saying people couldnt get their liquor elsewhere but 4 hours of delay is a lot of lost revenue for them specifically.

4 hrs of extra drinking time within the stadium should add to the bottom line.  The $5 drat beers between the game start announcement and kickoff should have helped too.

Over at riderfans.com, looks like they are not happy with Demski lately.

    This from Trumper

Why trade for Demski, he'll sign with the Bombers anyways in the off-season :D

You've hit a pet peeve of mine with this post.

If I wanted to see what is being said on riderfans.com, I would go to riderfans.com.   I don't (and hopefully most here don't) visit morningbigblue to read repetition of heresy and the subsequent commentary from the riderfans site.

If you do want to repeat the drivel from that site, start up another thread and so I don't have to read it or visit there.

  6. The defence gave up 26 pts in a good weather game.  That's low enough that we have a chance to win.  Not the defense's fault.  I was quite impressed with the CFL rookie laden secondary of Jones, Roberts, Loffler, Fogg and Morgan.  For the first time together, they weren't that bad.

Corney looked great on his plays, disrupting the footwork of BLM.

Special teams weren't special.  Me flick was great, poor returns and penalties killed us.

As for the offence, it was terrible.  Willy's stats are okay, but the team isn't consistent, cannot sustain drives, and cannot build momentum.  Passes are completed, but the ball isn't always in places where the receivers can run.  YAC is no where near where it needs to be for our team.

Maybe Jake needs to be an lineman.  Not bad for a "rookie".  He'd probably give more push on running plays.  Where's Eric Wilson when you need him??

At the end of the day, this is a QB league and ours isn't winning us games.   Trade BLM for Willy and we win that game 12 times out of 10.  (Yes... 12.  I know it's impossible, but so is giving 110%)

Oh you sweet summer child.... bombers in Alberta is pain and misery

My favourite was in 2002 in Edmonton, I attended the Bombers game.  The Bombers lost, but caused 7 or 8 Edmonton turnovers.  Every time a turnover happened, I turned and faced the crowd in my section yelling "Ohhhh,  Noooooo!  OHHHH, NOOOOOO!!!".  The fans hated me, and yelled to sit down.

    That was fun.

  8. With all the talk around the Leafs, Stamkos, and the cap, here's an idea.

Ol' Lou Lamerello needs to sweet talk a minimum cap team into a sign and trade with Stamkos.  I'll give you a for instance...

Say they get the New Jersey Devils to sign Stamkos to a 7 year $70 million dollar contact ($10MM per year cap hit).  Then trade a player or draft pick, along with $28 million to the NJD for Stamkos and have NJD retain $28 million of salary.  Wouldn't the Leafs then only owe $42MM for the rest of the contract, and the NJD would be able to have a salary floor of $58MM instead of $62MM.

The Leafs would get their guy and save cap space.  NJD would get a guy or draft pick, and save $4MM per year if they chose not to spend up to the salary cap floor.

It's a win win idea, and a way to circumvent the salary cap for the rich teams.

The online store lists "Decorated" and "Pro-Stitch" as two separate options (but for the same price?). What is is the difference, and which option would I be getting at the store? Thanks in advance!

Decorated is the pressed on numbers and name plates (glued on with heat).  They have similar look, but with fake stitching and a little bit harder of numbers.

Pro-stitched are sewn on around the perimeter of the letters and numbers.

At the store, your purchase has to be sent away for stitching if you want a Pro-Stitch.  All pre-orders were Pro-Stitch according to what I was told on Friday when I stopped by the store.  If you want the jersey immediately, it will be pressed (Decorated).

The pricing for both is the same.

The 50/50 ticket does not come with a game ticket.   Had TrueBlue4ever gone to the game, there is no guarantee he would bought a 50/50 ticket at the same time or from the same sales person as she did, and therefore it does not mean he would have won.

There is no law suit to be had here.

It is cool she gave something back to you.

I tried to get Andrew Swan to split a 50/50 ticket with me on the bus ride to the pre-season game.  He didn't want to.  He was going to be my good luck charm.

  11. So I'll be in Toronto on August 12th to catch the Bombers and then meeting up with a buddy for the two Jays games on the weekend.

I've got a number of questions about gamed, but I'll summarize with the following three for the football game:

    1. Anyone have any advice as to where the best place to sit at BMO field will be?

    2. Anyone else going?

    3. Anyone have any extra tickets?

The same ticket questions apply for the baseball.
