  1. @ArashMadani: BREAKING: Have learned the three #CFL teams in Ontario will have a strike "re-vote" Saturday, and now will include rookies, in prep to walk.

@ArashMadani: If strike re-vote passes in Ontario Saturday, non-Alberta #CFL players may walk Sunday, which would cancel Monday’s pre-season game in Wpg.

@ArashMadani: Have learned last #CFL proposal includes adding another playoff game if league expands to 10 teams (w/ no increase to playoff compensation).

    Why re-vote?

You would think that with that heavy strike support vote that was leaked, (98%) they could just do it anyway.

Re-vote would include rookies meaning they can strike too.

But there wouldn't be enough rookies to make a difference with that overwhelming majority, unless the legislation in Ontario stipulates otherwise.

Yeah how many rookies would there really be? 15-20 a team? Would that difference really do anything if they have 98% yes already?

  2. Met and/or briefly talked with January, Greaves, Saulsberry and Kowalczuk. Kowalczuk said the he loves O'Shea, that as a former player he really understands them. Raved about Bob Wylie, said he's showing them clips of guys he coached in the 80s. Thinks they've got the right people in place in all the right areas.

Also January said he appreciated the support from the fans. Him and the guy next to me were chatting about the labour stuff I think.

Guy, next to you... That would be me. The Linemen were pretty appreciative of the fans coming out and supporting them.
Ha, you know I'm always wondering if I'm sitting right by another MBB member when I come on here during camp.
Which is why we all need those MBB shirts ;)

But then you'll know my secret identity.

I already know who you are. Your're the guy that looks like your avy pic but with a marvel Bomber Shirt on :)

I said it earlier and I will say it again.  I just hope they aren't killing these guys too early.  I know everyone is fighting for jobs and trying to impress but I hope the coaches aren't pushing them too much.  The one thing I thought Lapo and Burke did well was not push too much in Training Camp and save the bodies for the season.  I cant remember too many injuries the last two training camps other then Watson who was taken out by Dan West.  Maybe I just have a short memory...

what ? we have lot of training camp injuries too... especially during lapo's time.

I'm not saying we never had any.  I just don't remember this many before we even had a preseason game.  Although some of them may not even be injuries they just so that the player is not on the field...

  6. "But let the record show one of the most-impressive passes thrown through the early days of camp was an absolutely perfect spiral that covered 50 yards after simple a flick of a 48-year-old ex-quarterback's wrist."

    Author? Ed Tait

Who he was talking about?  Danny McMannus

Well Danny is 48 so I guess so!  Wonder if his body could hold up for a whole season....

  7. Went in, tried to sit in the end zone and watch the hogs do battle, "security" told me to go sit on the east side.  Moved over a few sections.  Not good enough.  As tempting as the full Gollum experience was, I spend enough time hidden from the sun in my office.  So I left.

Second coldest winter in history that went on for freaking ever and they won't let people sit in the sun.

I hope the Bombers on the field are different from last year.  The random, made up, accomplish nothing policy department hasn't changed a bit.

Strange.  I noticed everyone sitting on the East side when I went on Monday.  Not sure why.  Did they give an explanation?  The only thing I can think of is they don't want anyone sitting under or near the construction area going on in the West side suites and perss box area.

Kelly is a good player, Mike just has a hate on for the guy for no real reason.

Any reports from Riderville on how Jade Etienne is doing.

I don't hate him, I just don't think he's what you hope for out of an import receiver. A new scouting staff should be able to produce better than that.

And from the reports in which we can take with a grain of salt it appears Kelly is excelling over most of the new guys.

Should we be pleased that Kelly is stepping up or do we look at this as a red flag at our recruiting ability?

I was one of the Kelly believers when he had his first game in WPG last year.  Looked to be a great reciever.  Then after a few games you could see it was just a few long runs mixed in with a bunch of short ones.  But to be fair he did come in mid season and had to learn half a Crowton offense and half a Marcel Offence.

If he is having a good camp and can learn the playbook now maybe he will be a good receiver or at least a good backup until someone steps up.

  9. Rick Ralph and Don Landry just talked about this on TSN1290.  Scott Milanovich apparently did this last year in Toronto.  Said no coordinators to talk to media during training camp, preseason and playoffs.  Allowed a few interviews during the season.  Said the reason they did this was it allowed the coaches to coach and not have to worry about what they have to say after practice or after a game.

  10.

If you want good articles... Include the media, don't fight with them.  Work with them.  Give them what they want.  Make their jobs easy.  Don't tell them no unless you absolutely have to.  Make them an extension of the team.  Treat them like friends.

Almost all of the articles written this offseason have been positive.  Walters understands what working with the media is and he hasn't had a single bad story that I can think of.  Miller has only one bad story and that's when he refused to work with the media on the leaky stadium issue.  O'Shea hasn't had any bad articles up to now and they've given him the benefit of any doubt.  For example: They could have written about how O'Shea flip flopped on Smith over a 2 day period, but they didn't.

Now O'Shea says he's going to control the message and no one else will be allowed to talk with the press.  That sets up an adversarial situation with the media.  When you do that, don't act surprised or complain when the media starts treating you like an adversary.

As Bauming said this morning if you simply ask O'shea anything you want to know he will tell you.  If you don't ask he's not going to say anything.  Pretty simple if you ask me.

Well, that's the story right there.

Mike O'Shea has been totally accessible and forthright, he is working with, and including the media.

Give him the respect he deserves and he will do the same.

You don't make friends by kicking someone in the shins, and hiding behind press credentials.

Here we go with that C word again......I'm fairly Certain my 5 year old has more Credentials.....

  11.

I stood behind Friesen for almost a half an hour at noon today and not once did I see him glance at the field more then 10 seconds. All he did was as he puts it "Flap his gums" to all the other media guys there.

So was this his first day at practice? Did he bother to show up for rookie camp? Because if he is comparing Kelly to O'shea after maybe 3 min of watching practice I have lost the last ounce of respect for that guy.

    Whoa whoa whoa WHOA!!!

You actually had some respect for him? :D

Well yeah I had respect for him.......i'd never want to write anything in the paper relating to Sports in Winnipeg.  It's not easy to write an article and make everyone like it.  But it's really easy to write down anything you want and just put it to print.  It takes a skilled writer to see both sides and be able to write a balanced article.

I don't even care what Friesen wrote in this article but to come out and compare MO to MK after barely watching a practice is laughable.  The ONLY thing these two coaches have in common is their first name!  After that it's a sheer drop off.

  14. We hire the the best o-line coach ive ever seen or heard of and because he has some other commitments, this is a bad idea?

Nasty Nate Are you people seriously that dense? Our o-line has been abysmal season after season.. Wylie WILL fix that, away for a day here or there but he will fix our o-line.

only Nasty Nate winnipeggers would find a way to get worked up and angry about this... Truly a sad state of affairs..

Fixed as I don't like getting lumped into the negative crowd.

  15. Another feature from the stadium design that was chopped/delayed for when they have a few nickels to rub together.

They had most of the posts set up outside the stadium to honour the Grey Cup teams, but didn't finish it, that's on the southeast corner of the site where the patch of field turf is outside the stadium.

I contacted the bombers about the nine markers last year. When they dug down to put the tenth one in they found some buried cables so they now need to move the tenth one over and then add the eleventh one next year ;)
