  1. In Winnipeg yes... in bigger cities nope. To put it in perspective... out East I was making near 6 figures just to do basic html coding. In Winnipeg that same job would pay only 40 grand.
  2. The latest John Oliver show summed up last week quite nicely, I definitely recommend everyone to take a watch.
  3. It would solve a lot of it, you can't cause ten crime sprees while behind bars. Also did you know that once someone has a record, they really don't care about paying $25 dollar fines for selling drugs and having to promise to stay away from drugs/weapons and to not stay out late. The punishment for red light cameras , driving in the bus lane and rolling a stop sign are way more severe then most punishments given out to people with real crimes. If only you knew what the average "punishment" is it would make you sick to your stomach.
  4. If we had a proper justice system they wouldn't have so many officers working so many hours. The re-offenders tie up so much resources. If the bad people were locked away in a terrible place for a longer period of time then the amount of police officers running around re catching the same guys would reduce big time. It is not uncommon for the police to re arrest and waste time on a single person over twenty times.
  5. Some more smaller stories... Met Tom Green when he was a correspondant for the late show in Florida years ago, he definitely turns it on when the cameras are rolling. Normal dude when they are off. Saw Richard Gere riding a bike downtown in Winnipeg. He said hello and drove off after I said hey. Met Dean Cain at a club years ago. Was hammered with several ladies following him. Much smaller then I realized. Met tonnes of NHL guys over the years, nearly all of them were really friendly. Met lots of wrestlers... The good ones were undertaker, tatanka, tajiri , Shane Douglas, one of the Bushwhackers, htm and Larry Zbysko was cool. The drugged up ones were Billy Gunn , Sabu , Raven, Jim neidhart and I wasn't sure if Lex Luger was drugged or just really socially awkward. The douches I met were Buff Bagwell, I think it was Ted Hart...younger high flyer that was in wfx. The scariest was Scott Steiner...seeing him at his biggest in person was freaky. Those arms were ridiculous.
  6. Need more plays with Andrew Harris and Darvin Adams...
  7. How is this thread not locked? So much whining and bitching over nothing. I'm amazed Rich hasn't locked this since he usually closes off any personal non football debates.

Both knees were illegal .. Alvarez was desperate. Fun night of fights, I couldn't believe how low of fight IQ that the heavyweight Sherman had in his fight. Literally one leg kick would of ended the fight but yet he tried getting into a slugfest and nearly lost.
  9. Only a complete knob would have or join for a weekly online radio show
  10. This is not true at all, they have to either buy him out or trade him. He had a crap season so I doubt anyone trades for him.
  11. In the early 2000's I remember him coming to my work absolutely trucked up... I think drugs killed his radio career. He used to a complete mess. http://uniter.ca/view/rivers-edge I think nowdays he might have a podcast or an internet show....
  12. Who actually thought that they would be in on Bishop though? It's been made very clear that they want a vet back up Elliott type of guy... not an elite starter.
  13. I feel like a thread should be created for funny celeb stories.... I have a wrestling one. Back in the 80's we were at the airport in Los Angeles waiting for our flight to come home. We hear a commotion and see two very familiar men drunk (possibly on drugs) screaming at some air port security. One man looked to be Iranian with a giant black mustache and a thick accent... the other man was tall with long curlier hair. I was very young at that point and was trying to understand why the Iron Sheik and Jake the Snake Roberts were sitting together since they would be enemies on TV. It turns out that they didn't allow them on the flight because they were really messed up, they had a house show to go to in Winnipeg and missed it since the airlines didn't let them on the plane. I did get two autographs out of the situation. My other fun local celebrity memory is when I was a teen in the 90's working at McDonalds and both Chris Walby and Miles Gorrell helped on Ronald McDonald Big Mac Day behind the counter.... I never felt so tiny as I did standing between two absolute behemoths. Both super awesome guys though.
  14. Danny O'Brien has been playing for the Redblacks for the last 3 seasons... I don't believe he has red hair.
  15. Don't forget the massive amount of OT they get on top of the big salary.... In fairness though certain other jobs (i.e. Teachers) can make very high salaries for what seems to be a job that shouldn't be that difficult to do...
  16. Purely based on what Lawless and other NHL guests have said on the radio. Way more praises for Comrie then Helle...
  17. Still better then Maurice... For this year it didn't help that Holtby really dropped the bar for half of the games in the series...
  18. So you would rather us keep the current coach who made it to the finals?
  19. From my friends at Winnipeg Police... one of the most time consuming and wasting responsibilities for them is checking in on people with curfews , people on parole, trying to find youths who ran away etc... lots of wasted time.
  20. Not a huge issue, a large part of many administrative staff in policing agencies transcribe audio interviews, statements , etc... All of this is used in court. Evidence would always be handled by non clerical staff (naturally), so collection and processing of evidence would always be done by the experts. I always have a good laugh watching CSI type shows and how loose they are with the evidence and how fast everything processes... what takes an hour on tv usually is a month or two in real life.
  21. Need to staff and set up the infrastructure all while being financed.... also trying to introduce change in any agency is always a pain.
  22. I may have heard that in the near future the plan is for all policing agencies to have administrative staff fill out all of the paper work / reports while the officers would then spend much more time away from a desk.
  23. I assume this was more so for the drunk homeless people that they have to pick up at all times of the day passed out downtown. It would be nice to have somewhere (preferably far out of town) where non police can dump off the scary drunks. The law is enforced..frequently as well. Many a time I have seen passed out drunks around the Portage Place area. The guys don't get charged but it definitely wastes the resources of the police and ambulances. I can't remember the financial amount but the city pays a whole lot every year on ambulance fees for drunks. In Regina and Vegas they have in the past bought one way tickets for their frequently drunk homeless people and ship them far away.
