Doesnt matter if Grigsby has a hole to run through or not, as soon as someone gets a hand on him he falls down

I think we should call Grigsby Kerplunk.

I like this nickname for a receiver that drops a lot of balls.  Could be the next Kamau Incompleterson.

They are both awful.  Brink can actually make some throws though.  Smith only has the deep ball.  Easier to defend Smith.

I guess the game we played them was an anomaly. I would rather play against Brink any day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

We got beat by a number of deep balls.  Smith is one of the most inaccurate QB's we've seen recently, can't do anything to get the ball to guys who can do lots once they have it, he's also throwing at guys with a gigantic catching radius like Carter, Green, Stafford and still missing.  Brink can at least hit some of those intermediate throws and screens.  If we had a guy like Carter, Willy would probably be averaging another 50 yard passing per game.

Having an all-star wideout to go along with Denmark and Moore would be amazing.

He used to.  I've seen a lot of misses on his deep throws this year.

Brink may be more accurate but he's not that accurate and has almost no physical skill to back it up.  I do not foresee any Montreal wins with Brink as the QB...

  4. they have a guy who played quarterback at in the NFL, went to the pro bowl, I think played in an NFC championship game, excelled in the CFL, coaching a quarterback,

and they have a guy who did not succeed as a player or coach in the CFL, who holds a higher position on the offence.

But maybe to you, that makes sense.

This board is getting pretty snarky.

I can only agree with that last part, but just about me.  My post was full on snark.  Leave the rest of the board out of this.

But what you're arguing doesn't really make much sense.  Garcia JUST got here.  He hasn't had a sniff of the CFL in a long while.  As far as I know he doesn't have any coaching experience either.

Compounding on his lack of credentials (of which none are coaching), you are also midway through the season, any coordinator change would mean essentially canning any kind of system they had in place.  That or they make him the OC of a system he had nothing to do with.

Realistically you have to go with Dinwiddie for now.

Fun to be keyed up to fever pitch, for a big game, for a change......

Fortunately, over the years, have devised a reliable system to deal with the nerves......

    2.  It the Riders win....see: no.1

what is the gin of choice in the do or die household?

Bombay....the immortal Ritch Dowrey known as - 3rdDown, persuaded me to switch.....

Always think of him when we play BC. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.  Wonder if he's getting better at all? Anyone know?

  6.

I've noticed him out there.  He had that interception against BC, and he has been making some bone-jarring hits.

Another case where fans turn on a player when they do one bad thing...

Sorry but no, even when the team signed Kuale I didn't get it and thought it was a useless move.

He is a proven veteran that has had nothing but a great attitude since he get here.  It turned out that he was our best option and best fit in our defense coming out of training camp (along with Ian Wild).  Is he an all-star? No.  But in our defense the MLB plays a much tougher role than on other teams, and doesn't have nearly the amount of traditional linebacker help against the run.  So i'd like to give the guy a break.

Best thing about JFG stepping up is when Watson comes back he does not have to play all the snaps.

I don't see any reason whatsoever to take JFG out for Watson at this point.

Watson is still a better player than JFG. Moore and Watson will be big upgrades to the receiving core once they are both healthy.  Kohlert is also a steady NI receiver, but if anyone may be relegated to the 3rd NI receiver it would be him IMO.  I know I'm going to take flack because Kohlert is essentially the new Stoddard (actually, more skilled than Stoddard), but all of our receivers catch the ball extremely well.

  8. Agreed Hamilton really hung in there for a while because of special teams. Hajrulahu had a tough day punting the ball.  A couple he drove right to the returner.  He also did it once on the kickoff after the safety.  The cover team needed more time to get down there.  Medlock seemed to get more hangtime.

  9. Both teams have been lucky (or fortunate, whatever you prefer) to win a couple of their games. Winnipeg is the only one of the two that has really put the boots to another team and I'd say the quality of their competition has been tougher as well.

Mike Reilly and Drew Willy have more or less been a wash. I'd definitely give the nod to Willy so far, but it's been close. Reilly is more of a threat on the run, Willy has been a more effective passer to this point.

I don't think it's going to come down to the QB so much as it's going to come down to who plays better defense and who earns better field position. Both teams have some absolute ballers in the secondary and the defensive line. Edmonton's secondary with Burnett, Grymes and Watkins matches up well and I really do think this will be a game where not having Cory Watson will hurt us. I won't be surprised to see Willy rely on JFG and Nick Moore to move the chains in the intermediate game instead of trying to stretch the field. I think this would also be a good game to get Cotton AND Grigsby involved.

The big hope for me is that we contain Bowman and Stamps. Bruce Johnson and Demond Washington will have a big task ahead of them but they've done a good job to date. Bruce Johnson especially. 6 tackles in the opener as he got picked on in his debut. He hasn't been giving much up since. Teams really are picking on Bucknor a little bit so let's hope he comes to play.

And that's what I have liked to see from Willy so far.  He always keeps his eyes downfield.  That said, I think Willy has had some opportunities to run that he hasn't quite capitalized on. It was good to see him do it in the final drive last night.
