When I was with Rogers in Toronto (cable & cell) I was constantly amazed at their poor customer service and their arrogant and unpleasant attitude. Until I called to quit: that was the most pleasant attitude ever conveyed by a Rogers rep in my 16~ years with them.

My great fear is SportsNet will win the contract and they’ll expose cfl fans to the worst collection of play-by-play and colour announcers while placing them second fiddle to nba and leaf events. I was of the opinion Nichols resisted the long ball because he feared being intercepted. I’ve noted Nichols protects the bejesus out of his passes, much preferring to throw it away than risk getting intercepted. I don’t know if there are stats on this, but I’d not be surprised to hear Nichols threw the fewest long balls than most cfl quarterbacks.

I still see many comments in the Winnipeg Free Press from some incredibly bitter people about the location. Personally, I lived in river heights and I hated the polo park location. Parking was always a beeyach as was traffic exiting. I wonder if those who complain about parking and traffic today overlook yesterday’s problems. I don’t want this thread to get derailed so I’ll leave it at that. Like tracker said, the new stadium is so much an improvement, I can’t imagine the current location has a significant impact on attendance.

I don't recall reading a single complaint about traffic last week. Everyone I spoke with that attended said traffic wasn't a problem. That said, I lived in river heights and fort rouge when I first went to bomber games 35+ years ago and remembered traffic and parking always being a problem at polo park. It is nigh time Winnipeggers quit whining about the location and the traffic. Ditto asper. It is quite possible Winnipeg might not even have a new stadium to ***** about without him.

Not sure why I need a lesson in context. My comment was based on one player's goal. I happens on this and other Blue Bomber forums, Jets forums, the comments section in newspapers... AND, the media in this city.

Trouba's goal was a good play. He made a great head's up play to read and intercept an Oiler pass and drove across the blueline to unload his shot. A knuckler. It fooled Dubnyk. We have a horrible habit of diminishing our successes and blowing up our opponents successes.

I've only been to two games but both times were were just across the street from the stadium, perhaps a 3 minute walk.

What is the point of bringing people in and then not giving them a chance? If people are dropped shortly after arriving I suspect there are other reasons, like health or fitness or even attitude.

The location is just fine. People need to get over it. Especially those not paying for the stadium. Most people I've spoken with have discovered the park and rides are excellent travel options. The rapid transit/train argument is somewhat specious. The buses are direct and usually take 20 - 30 minutes. Not a big deal. If listening to a post game show is the difference-maker the Japanese invented a great new technology: a portable radio.

Tax break? For who?There is no other way to think about this than the taxpayer paying out of one pocket for the taxpayers share of this stadium and paying out of the other pocket for the crown corporations share of this stadium. There is only one taxpayer. This is nothing more than a sneaky government subsidy. Ticket prices soar? Probably not so much. Pretty sure private industry would have stepped forward. Probably not as lucrative as the bottomless wallet of the ndp.

This is not a good thing for Manitoba taxpayers. This is basically the ndp finding a way for the taxpayer to pay down the loans the taxpayer funded. It is good for the football team though, however, at the end of the day I'd rather private companies were sponsoring the Bombers and crown corporations stuck to their knitting.

Your logic makes no sense. Why would they build a stadium in Hamilton for the Toronto Pan Am Games? Maybe because they have a CFL team to use it? They could have built it at any number of locations in the region and used it for amateur sport. The new Hamilton stadium IS being built exclusively due to the Pan Am games. No kidding. It is Toronto's Pan Am Games. They could have built it at Downsview, they could have built it in Mississauga, Markham, any number of locations or cities in the region. They could have chosen to build a temporary facility to hold the soccer games that didn't fit at BMO. I wonder why they chose Hamilton, and to build it up to CFL football specifications. Why? The province didn't take over until Asper had the plans laid out. He insisted on the local architect who had zero experience with this type of facility, likely why the building is more form over function for football fans and flawed with obstructed views and tiny concourses. The construction went to a company that is pretty prominent throughout Canada, as did most of the sub work. The "tiny" concourses are likely more an effect of cost than an inexperienced architect IMO. The notion the concourses are too small has been discussed ad nauseum. I think the size of concourses at most arenas and stadiums is always too small. As for obstructed views, there is not a single sports facility that does not have some obstructed view seats. Even the vaunted Dallas Cowboys stadium has obstructed view seats.
