Read the bolded quote from Desjardins. He flat out says that there were active players (ie under contract) but he didn't want any of them. He didn't even really want Kohlert - they tried to pass on their last pick from the Bombers but the league said they had to pick someone.

Desjardins basically said our Canadian content was the sh*ts. He took Kohlert (a pending free agent) in the expansion draft because there was nobody else worth taking.

Desjardins only had 3 picks too... his 1st pick (Macmillan) was better than all our 6 picks combined that year. IF Mulumba ever plays up here and IF he ever amounts to anything it might make it a bit closer but as it sits now that was a terrible draft (it wasn't a very good draft year in general though to be fair).

I love medieval history & have family ties to the character that Foster would be playing so it's 100% my kind of movie. Can't wait!

Edmonton isn't really an exception though... McDavid should/would be higher if he didn't play in a small market. The fact that he placed 6th is just a testament to how good he is.

I know it'll never happen but I'd love to see a team in Saskatoon just to see the meltdown over divided loyalties. They could name the team Rough Riders to really make it interesting (plus it's been too long since the CFL had two teams with that name).

Agreed. The timing just doesn't make sense for it only to be about his contract & philosophy. They've known about his views for a long time so nothing new there. He also wouldn't have been the 1st GM to go into the final year of his contract without a new deal done so not a huge deal. Even if those 2 reasons are legit, together they don't add up to a firing, IMO, with one of the most important dates of the year coming up shortly.
