Pre Game Thread (Week 3 vs Montreal) w/ Depth Chart
Atomic replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Calgary lost a couple good OL and a couple good receivers. They're not a 15-3 team anymore but they are still at the top of the league. Hard to imagine anything other than a Ticats-Stamps Grey Cup this season. -
See that's some scary ****.

Pre Game Thread (Week 3 vs Montreal) w/ Depth Chart

I like that they're trying out some different guys on the DL. Kashawn Fraser was pretty good last year when he got a chance. -
That's a good point. I wonder about some of these cars that can park themselves or brake when you're getting to close to the person in front of you. This is giving a little too much control to the computer systems and therefore anyone who gains control of the computer systems. TUP posted an interesting theory in the missing Malaysian flight thread that involved a hacker gaining control of the plane through a certain panel that could be exposed in the cabin. Of course, this is the trade-off we all consider. Having computer systems in planes allows us to do a lot of good stuff. It's a security risk but do the benefits outweigh the risk? That's the question we have to keep asking.

These so-called cyber attacks don't serve much of a purpose... and I say so-called because I don't think they are originating from foreign governments. You wouldn't openly hack something just to prove you can do it, because then the vulnerability gets patched. It would be pointless... basically just a giant act of government ****-swinging. I guess you can't rule that out altogether. As for the U.S., wikileaks has released plenty of documents that shows that the U.S. actively engages in cyber espionage. I'd be surprised if the U.S. isn't capable (possibly more capable than anyone on Earth) of large-scale cyber-attacks and their hand has just never been forced.

I know they lined up with Briggs and Hurl in the middle of a 3-4 during training camp a few times. The 3-4 has been practiced before, this isn't a new development.

Every time you put a piece of software in something, it introduces a security risk. The size of the security risk depends on who created the software. But every piece of software has a vulnerability, even if it hasn't been discovered yet. This puts our need for security directly at odds with our desire for the automation provided by software. Couple this with a software industry that is still very young in comparison to other critical professions like engineering and medicine, and you have a recipe for disaster. The software industry is still searching for the best ways to build software, but the world isn't willing to wait. So what do we have now? The so-called "Internet of Things", where everything is connected. You can get refrigerators that are wi-fi compatible. Do we really need this? On the other hand, someone hacking your fridge wouldn't be the worst thing. But when we talk about cars, planes, machinery.... missile batteries.... you have to wonder if the push for progress is growing beyond our grasp.

But what does it all mean, Mark?

lol well if CapGeek still existed this would be much easier. I just think that he would have gotten at least 6 mil when you look at Frolik getting 4.3 as a baseline. How much more would someone pay for Ladd, who is obviously the superior player in pretty much every way? You gotta think the price tag is $6 million or more, for at least 5 years. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/cap-central/team.php?team=WIN Thanks. Is this site accurate? There's a few sites out there with numbers but I think most of them were pulling from CapGeek and they're kinda struggling now that it's gone.

Buffalo or Florida would have signed him for sure

Sure, why not. Whatever. WWE Network and Wrestlemania

She is pretty good. Natalya had the crowd chanting "Foxy! Foxy!" I'm actually not a huge fan of Summer Rae. She doesn't seem like she's very good in the ring. Not that I know anything but she just seems sloppier. My favourite is Nikki Bella. She's awesome. Too bad she wasn't there. Best match was the main event for sure. Ambrose vs. Rollins in a "Winnipeg Street Fight". Tables chairs and kendo sticks involved. Ambrose almost won but Bray Wyatt came running down and interfered. Roman then reappeared and he and Ambrose chased off the other two and the night ended to Ambrose or Reigns' theme... Can't recall which. Prime time players opened the night with a win over Ascension. I like PTP. Titus O'Neil is an absolute beast. One of my favourite wrestlers right now. Roman Reigns entered the arena for his match right near where I was sitting. Pretty cool! -
How does everybody feel about this "coverage"
Atomic replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The best sports writers in the country don't cover the CFL. Why would you expect the best from the B Team? You are pretty quick to criticize the club and coaches but happy to give the media a pass. The best athletes in the country don't play in the CFL. Why would you expect the best from B players and coaches? You say that like I'm always critical of the club and coaches which could not be further from the truth. I am quick to defend the Bombers when I believe they are in the right and quick to criticize when I believe they are in the wrong. And I treat the media the same way. Honestly these were a couple tongue in cheek tweets from guys when there's not much going on. There has been OK coverage of the Bombers this year. They tell us the facts. I wouldn't trust their opinion on anything more than that. I've long been an advocate of local news outlets employing a former coach, player, or scout to write more detailed football analysis articles. The guys we have are here to write fluff pieces and to be honest that's what's the average fan is looking for. I know tweets like this get the hardcore fans riled up but they're only joking. We all know who Paul Friesen is and what he's all about. -

Are they charging you to read tweets? In my opinion the free press coverage of the bombers has been outstanding -
It depends on the market. If he was a UFA this year he would have cleared 7 mil.

I didnt go. Every couple of years Ill go but I went last time. Although i was invited to hang out with Emma and Summer after...if I had been there. doh Ya even that divas match was pretty good. Natalya and Alicia Fox vs Cameron and Summer with Emma as guest ref. Alicia Fox was being sold as a face which doesn't seem to line up with the current storyline but whatever. Natalya got a HUGE pop and won the match on the sharpshooter, it was great. -
I think this is probably the closest to what will happen.
-
Then he wouldn't sign here, it's as simple as that. I don't see anybody on the roster or in the ranks of our prospects who can fill Ladd's shoes by 2016-2017. So that means you're dipping into the UFA market. And if you think you're going to get a better player from there, or a better deal, it's just not going to happen. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet on a slightly unfavourable deal when you don't have anyone ready to step up and take their place.
-
Regardless, I guess it doesn't matter. I agree the flag has a racist meaning. But I don't agree with (and never will agree with) removing any and all art that references the flag. I think we're on the same page on this one.
-
Well then say bye to Ladd. Jets can have fun with whatever plug gets unearthed in free agency next year to fill his spot. Here's a spoiler, the new player will be worse than Ladd.

How does everybody feel about this "coverage"

Seems like a reasonable question to me. If you are tweeting that his coverage is terrible then you must know what you'd rather see. Silence would be better than bragging about doing nothing. But since you asked ... what would I like to see? Any emphasis on a particular area compared to other days or weeks? They're there every day, they must notice trends (if they were actually watching of course) Kohlert is back from injury after a long layoff - how does he look? Any brace or wrap? Does he look like he's struggling with anything or is he a full go? Paul Friesen just wrote a huge column blasting the Bombers for letting Willy play so soon after a concussion but I've never heard any comments on how he looks - which in this case, I will assume means he looks great because if he didn't, no doubt Friesen would be jumping at the opportunity to say we're mishandling things. Da'rel Scott and Patrick Neufeld just started practicing again this week - what units are they lining up with? Are they seeing any work with the first or second units. Injury updates on Nate Collins or Troy Stoudermire - Stoudermire especially is in that zone where he could be back soon and yet, we haven't heard anything. There was apparently a new guy working with the RB / REC crews last week occasionally - any update on if he's still there or who he is? Is JFG still running with the 1s or are Richards/Bastien stealing any reps after JFG's rough Thursday? Just a start. One of those would be amazing. Well tell Friesen that, not me. -

6 years for ~6 million seems reasonable to me.
