We actually started running that feature out here, awhile back. It's really good. We run Don Cherry's Grape Line, too, which is usually entertaining, if nothing else.

So new rumour (Chris D.ca started the first) is full time Classic Rock similar to their Calgary station Q107. Basically what CITI was before Wheeler took over...

For the record, a lotta people were pretty down on JFG last week in another thread but it seems that he's gonna be starting this year, after all.

...As of 8am tomorrow, Power 97, one of the most legendary Rock stations in Western Canada, and quite possibly the best Rock station in Western Canada for a period of time (BJ/Hal, Wheeler/Hal), will be flipping to 97.5 BIG FM, a Country-format station, to try and take on ratings powerhouse QX104FM. ...As a nerd who follows this kind of thing, I don't see Winnipeg as a big enough "Country" market for 2 stations. It's been tried in the past. 103 was Country at one point, and then the terrible attempt with Hank FM that failed in virtually every market. Nobody's been able to take on QX. If anyone can do it, it's Corus Ent, who have a great track record in the Country format, in Calgary, Edmonton and some Ontario sticks...along with owning CMT, which is a big part of it, but I just don't see Winnipeg being the right sized market. Sad to see what was once an incredible Rock station go this way, but such is the radio world in an over-saturated market with too many radio licenses handed out, and too few advertising dollars to grab. Keep throwing **** against a wall until something sticks.

that's a damn shame for Ian, and I certainly take no joy from his unfortunate situation......that said......would sure love to see the guy back in Blue and Gold this summer, after all...

I think the last time I enjoyed an NHL All Star thing, I was about 12. Now, it's just so lame and a waste of everyone's time. While I agree with the general sentiment that ASGs are lame for all sports, the baseball one has always been the best, if only for the fact that there's something on the line....home field advantage for the team in the World Series. In baseball, there's a lot less chance of guys getting hurt, so they can compete at a higher level. Football and hockey, much greater chance of getting hurt, so they all dial it down, and it ends up super lame.

Bettman is a slimy piece of **** weasel...of that there can be no doubt.....but being a commissioner of a pro sports league competing in the US, sometimes requires being a slimy piece of **** weasel...
