CFLPA reax to achilles-gate: The Canadian Football League Players’ Association has issued the following memo to its membership league-wide. It was obtained by 3DownNation on Friday afternoon. Gentlemen, Despite the CFL’s assurances that player health and safety is a high priority for the league and teams, we have confirmed six members experienced Achilles Tendon injuries yesterday (four of six occurring within six minutes on one team). This clearly contradicts those assurances. The reports we have received regarding the circumstances cause us great concern that the coaching staff were not respecting the protocols in place for the first week of player isolation. We will continue to seek answers and demand more rigorous oversight on proper player safety standards. We strongly recommend all members be personally proactive with their health and safety and understand that you can and should speak out when you feel your health and safety is being put at risk. Immediately contact your player reps and Association if you feel your health and safety is being compromised. The CFLPA will immediately act on your concerns. We continue to place the health and safety of our members at the forefront and we will ensure the CFL does the same. Your CFLPA Four of the players who suffered torn Achilles tendons on Thursday were members of the Saskatchewan Roughriders — running back Jonathan Femi-Cole, defensive end Freddie Bishop III, linebacker Larry Dean, and defensive back Nelson Lokombo. Bishop III and Dean were projected starters, while Lokombo was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2021 CFL Draft. The identity of the remaining two players remains unknown.

It's not as much about the TV audience IN Toronto (though I understand it's apparently much larger than you'd think), but moreso about the fact that the TV networks are based in Toronto. In order for the league to maintain legitimacy, it needs a franchise in Canada's largest city......or so the argument goes.

I agree in theory, with the concern that our national TV deal could go kaput without a franchise in Toronto. If we were able to maintain the TV deal without them, then GTFO and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

I am so embarrassed that AB doesn't have the card/app that you guys do, and am hopeful there will be a way to grant me access to IGF at the end of August. I'm fully vaccinated and have a piece of paper from the AB Gov, but we don't have the QR code thing. I know the federal card is coming eventually, but might not be till fall/winter....

MBT isn't better than Arbuckle or Nichols. Period.

Both numbers will be relatively low compared to the rest of the country when all is said and done. We just started doing 2nd doses earlier is why it looks like we're doing well. Almost everyone I know that wants one, has their second dose.

I have MOST of the 2019 wins (losses get deleted ASAP) on my PVR and have rewatched probably a dozen times each in the last many many many months. I love those games, but am SO excited for something new. I like hockey, love curling, but am INSANE about CFL football....it's gonna be great.

Wife wanted to rewatch GC107 last night, so we fired that up. I am so f***ing ready for this season........not sure if Saturday is just physicals or if it's actually Day 1 of Camp, but either way, I expect a full report!

I had the exact same thought when I saw McCallief's stupid ******* SNet piece. I have spent a small fortune on the Bombers over the years...the fans aren't the problem. It's making NEW fans that's the issue.

thank goodness...glad it's over, glad the Habs fans can go back into their cave again. Kucherov telling it like it is during the presser last night makes him my new favourite player for the time being... Time to get into the offseason and back to football season!
