  1. https://www.bluebombers.com/2021/07/16/quick-hits-tc-july-16-2021/ some good stuff, as always, from Our Man Tait....and just a quick teaser for you: 1. MORE MUSCLE?!?!: It’s in Jonathan Kongbo’s DNA to work hard. As evidence you may recall that back in his days at the University of Tennessee he won the 2018 John Stucky award as Volunteers’ best performer in the weight room. And so when the Blue Bombers defensive end arrived in Winnipeg in 2019 as a first-round draft pick he was already carved in stone at 6-5, 255 pounds. Now back with the club after spending the summer of 2020 in the training camp of the San Francisco 49ers and a short stint this year in The Spring League, Kongbo has added another 15 pounds to his already-chiselled frame.
  2. I just can't figure out how people in MB are affording it, based on the going salary rates. Unless they're just constantly on a 25 year amortization or something....? It's nuts. Unless you're a "professional" (lawyer, doctor, teacher, tradesman...) I have no idea how you afford to live in a newer home in MB....
  3. ....if you're unvaccinated.....
  4. Nope...comparable house (age, sq ft, etc) still cheaper in Calgary than Winnipeg, or at least very close. I live on Realtor.ca and am just blown away because everyone in AB makes so much more money than the person doing a comparable job in MB. I can not understand it. It seems to have happened around 2010ish...housing prices in Wpg skyrocketed without a corresponding raise in pay...
  5. It is INSANE what's happened to the housing market in Manitoba over the last decade, without the salaries to go with it.....
  6. Bless you for saying it..... I dream of finding jobs in MB that pay anywhere close to what the wife and I make in AB. The sad reality is that AB pays more, and is WAY cheaper to live in (real estate, property taxes, and no PST).....
  7. I am....at MOST.....about 25 years away, but it feels like it's tomorrow. I'm just champing at the bit. We just realized that our mortgage is going to be up in about 10 years (I think we can do it in 9, actually) so we're starting to look at retirement properties back in Manitoba now. Once the house is off mortgage, we can start paying on the retirement place. We're debating putting money down on a lot and building something in 10 years and then spend the following 15 years paying for that, or we may just wait, build up our nest egg and then buy something existing closer to the date. Either way, it's been really exciting planning for it.
  8. Anyone not vaccinated is in big danger.... Scary stuff to come this fall.
  9. I just love this so much. There's going to come a day (hopefully before too long) when I'll be able to come home again, and I almost can't even wrap my head around how good it's going to be. I lay awake at night dreaming about it.
  10. The CFL published the results in a statement Thursday. Through pre-training camp and quarantine, the league administered approximately 6,000 COVID-19 tests to Tier 1 personnel, which includes players, coaches and support staff. Those tests resulted in a total of 10 individuals returning a positive test result for COVID-19. Five of the positive tests occurred prior to the affected individuals’ travel to their respective CFL markets; they were subsequently not allowed to travel. Please note that, on occasion, a test that comes back positive is determined to be false-positive. Any individual that tests positive is prevented from joining or is removed from team activities, and is isolated or quarantined, in accordance with the CFL’s Return to Play Health and Safety protocol, Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) protocol and local public health protocol. The CFL will continue to provide updates on tests administered to Tier 1 personnel. As a matter of policy, it will not identify the affected individuals or Clubs.
  11. the wife is pretty bummed about it (but hoping for a miracle) but honestly, for me........ I've been in Alberta for 14 years now. I can't even begin to put into words what an incredible feeling it is for me to be in Winnipeg on a Bombers game day. I was saying to the boys in our group chat that its' almost a religious experience for me. I took it for granted for 27 years, but not anymore. Whether I watch the game at the stadium or at a bar, or out at our cottage at Victoria Beach, or wherever......it's an indescribable feeling of joy just being in the province on game day.
  12. Well, that's shitty, but absolutely makes sense. As they say on the website, they're awaiting approval from the province to allow out of province fans to attend. Hopefully that gets worked out before too long. Have a chance to be there on the 29th, and would enjoy being at the stadium, but definitely understand the current situation...
  13. do we know this for sure yet?
  14. and general public on Monday the 19th!
  15. Of course I'm f***ing working that night, but man what I wouldn't give to be there with you all...or at least be able to see it live on TV. Going to be an incredible night!!
  16. Dr Roussin announces that MB Public Health approves WBBFC health and safety plan to allow 100% capacity at IGF on August 5th. Congrats, team....that's going to be a hell of a night. I'd give anything to be there...
  17. some good stuff in the above...
  18. Pretty much the only thing I remember from Spanish class at Brandon U in 1998 is "Mano y mano" = "Hand To Hand" ...... But either way....it has nothing to do with "Man To Man"... or Man Against Man....
  19. Oh Ed...and the "mano a mano"......it's mano y mano, and it means "hand to hand"...not man to man. *twitch twitch twitch*
  20. One of the reasons O'Shea has so much respect with the players, is he doesn't put their personal business out there in the public. I get that these things need to change, but it's something that the players are going to have to agree to, more so than the coaches. I'd be curious about what the PA has to say about all of it...
  21. Honestly, I'm wondering if it's one of those things where the legs just weren't there for him, and he's wondering if he can or wants to still do it? I'm not suggesting anything, I'm just curious. You knew there were going to be people who came back and went "Nope...." and I'm curious if he's one. Hopefully not!
  22. Yeah, The Trinity has a real history of bringing in guys like that................
  23. https://www.bluebombers.com/2021/07/13/quick-hits-tc-july-13-2021/ "...Fans continue to ask so we’ll continue remind everyone that due to health and safety protocols, training camp sessions are closed to the public...." Told ya.....
