  1. Two reasons. One, she's not particularly good at what she does. I have no doubts she's very nice, but she stumbles her way through every hit she does, be it Jets or Bombers games. Two, just because you are a sideline reporter doesn't mean you can do PBP. Not sure how many times I have to tell people, it's an extremely unique skillset that takes years of practice to become even adequate at.
  2. I'm so torn because on one hand I can see that you are terribly sexist and God only knows what else..... But on the other hand, I'm a big believer that the best person available should get the job, and not shoehorn someone in just to fill a quota.
  3. Sweden took a chance with horrible results and none of them good and are now going "oops..."
  4. You can't have a 2-Analyst team. It doesn't work that way. But Gord Miller with Dunigan would be great. Walby doing colour with someone... Rod Smith... Would be great. Not sure CW wants to travel that much tho. I think TSN still considers Suitor a great analyst and think they'll try and find a new PBP guy to step in next to him and maintain the A Team. Black and Forde remain as B Team likely. Miller/Dunigan C Team. But that's all very generic and things can be mixed and matched...
  5. That's fair. Pedersen and Carteri are among the worst of all time when it comes to shilling for the locals...
  6. Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......... I mean, I love Knucks, but................
  7. Cool story from Darrin Bauming today....said that he was traveling with Cuthbert during GC104 week, and Cuthbert said he'd called a GC win for every franchise except Wpg. He completed the set in November, and then called it a career...

  9. your ignorance is showing......... Calling one sport does not equal calling all sports. They're all quite different...especially at the highest level. The more I think about it, the more I think Gord Miller will move up a spot and take over the West broadcasts with Suitor, and Black/Forde will stay in the East broadcasts. Grey Cup "A Team" TBD.....
  10. the two new cases are a man in his 20s and another in his 30s. A trucker and an associate of the trucker...
  11. I don't think CC leaving has anything to do with the CFL and it's future. It's purely the opportunity to be in the biggest chair for the biggest sport in this country. And likely a very very big paycheque.
  12. Even as a panel host, replacing Rod Smith, who could jump to a more full time PBP role. I'd be okay with that, I think. But again, none of those guys... Smith, Miller, Black.... Are getting any younger. It's a balance, because you need someone old enough to have experience, but also young enough to not seem like the crypt keeper in the booth....
  13. Brian Williams is 107 years old and doesn't do PBP. Cripes. They need newer, younger blood. Getting Neilson out of U of A was an interesting move because you have to start grooming people. You know who's an interesting thought is a guy like Darrin Bauming. Doesn't he do some Bisons PBP or am I crazy? I wonder if he has aspirations for the big leagues...
  14. Okay, so I've taken a moment and had a couple of thoughts on this. Being in broadcasting and being a ridiculous sports fan like the rest of you, these sorts of things (sports broadcasting) hit home for me........ -Derek Taylor is gaining experience as a CFL PBP guy now, and has TSN experience. Could be someone they reach out to. -By the same token, I wonder if they reach out to Rod Pedersen. I know what we all think of him, but for some reason he has a lot of goodwill built up in CFL circles and has a lot of years of CFL PBP experience. Curious if he's a name passed around. -Wondering if there's anyone currently at Sportsnet that might get plucked to come over to TSN..... a name I thought about was Dave Randorf, who really wanted to do NHL PBP, so he left TSN to go do that for S'Net once they got the contract. But he has some CFL background and I'm curious if he'd come back to TSN to do a similar role to Cuthbert (both hockey and football PBP)...
  15. Absolutely brutal for TSN. By far the best CFL PBP guy. What in the actual hell are they gonna do to replace him. If Rod Black is the new A guy, that's tough for us. Gord Miller is likely their best PBP right now, with Rod Smith second. The kid from the U of A will get more time now but he's not ready yet.
  16. ha ha - always appreciate you, buddy!
  17. I'm an awful human being that cheers for both and looks between my fingers when they play each other....
  18. Until recently, watching Bombers games at McMahon over the last 13 years has been hell on a number of levels........
  19. Ugh. I was really hoping the jokes would be unnecessary. The guy might not have been a superstar, but he was a quality Canadian foot soldier who wore Blue and Gold for awhile. He deserves at least a semi-respectful tip of the cap for his retirement. Thanks for the service!
  20. Sam Hurl announces retirement....
  21. would love to see the MB active case load at 0 by July. Keep on kickin' ass, MB. Also of great value to me, Roussin talked about how they might loosen the inter-provincial restrictions (no 14 day isolation requirement) "by jurisdiction", so theoretically, I could come home from AB without needing to isolate for 14 days. Still have hope for end of summer!
  22. okay, not EVERYONE in EVERY town........but........south of Red Deer = Stamps/Riders...... Red Deer+North = Esks/Riders.......... for anyone that's actually a CFL fan.
  23. thank you, sir...... *edit* .......after checking them out. It just seems weird. I have the EastMan one because it's where I'm from, and I might get a Parkland/WestMan one to rep my time in those areas, but I dunno....seeing all the Alberta cities/towns with a big Bombers logo overlapping. Just seems super weird, because all of those places are diehard Stamps/Esks/Riders.....
