This had me thinking about that scene from Moneyball. The only way O'Shea is going to play a new guy is if the incumbent is not signed or is traded.

I think the issue here is with the CFLPA. They haven't determined yet if the influx of money will go to player salaries or if they will allocate it other ways (pension, playoff money, training camp pay etc). Walters is wise not to spend the money until he knows is actually available. Freisen put his own spin on it as well;

Bombers signings; Latavious Brini LB/DB Arkansas - was with Argos and Als last season. Isaiah Avery DB Portland State - went to 49ers rookie camp last year.

I saw someone mention that the league was to advise the CFLPA on Jan 15th what the increase would be. So Walters knew about the increase and he still let Lawler walk? Or if the GMs actually didn't know about the increase until today, would Walters try to re-sign any of the players that have verbal agreements with other teams?

I'm at the game and was just thinking about that. It's a Tuesday night so it prolly wouldn't be as bad as a liquored up Saturday crowd would be.

Ayers is still under contract with the Bombers. It's Brian Cole (along with Biggie) that it looks like won't be back. As well, Bryce Notree and Lucky Ogbevoen were released at the end of the season.

The CFL Transactions page shows QB Darren Grainger has retired.

Should the Bombers release Bighill from his contract now? It would give them an opportunity to publicly thank Biggie and would be a nice jester to allow him to start talking to other teams.
