  1. I dunno man, polls show Quebec is still fully on board with the NDP and now BC seems to be joining their party. Damned granola eating hippy tree huggers and french losers. Absolutely is, on orders from the NDP. Provincial and federal wings are the same party so she's doing Tom a solid. Ridiculous because we all know they're raising taxes. For the life of me I don't understand why the Conservatives aren't bringing up the **** show that is the Sellinger government every chance they get. That would be my first piece of evidence that the NDP are the boogeymen people say they are.
  2. Simpson was good, just got hurt too much.
  3. Interesting that Mulcair says the NDP will not run deficits... he's promising an awful lot of spending so that tells me it's higher taxes to pay for all of that, wonder why he's not mentioning that in all these promises. Corporate taxes and high income tax brackets can't pay for all the stuff he's promising....
  4. Who cares about creativity? Just stating the truth and Winnipeg has a stereotype about being cheap for a very good reason. It's a city full of cheap skates and bargain hunters. If the city is so cheap why does the average winnipeg citizen have record levels of household debt. Doesn't really jive with your argument of the "cheap Winnipegger." If they are cheap, they wouldn't have record levels of household debt, would they? This is seriously an argument that you bring up? Household debt is climbing at an alarming rate all across Canada, that's not a specific thing to WInnipeg it's just a function of how society has changed. More people use credit to buy things it doesn't speak to cheapness, simply a societal trend for people to charge more. Spending more money than you have is not the action of a cheap person. Fact is, in Winnipeg there are more lower income earners than other cities on the Prairies. The average middle income earner earns less in Winnipeg than in any other medium-sized or large city on the Prairies. They are going to spend less money on luxery items and such. Not a function of being cheap, it's a function of less income. You need to get out of the Calgary bubble once in awhile. I still think there will be some big discounts with tickets at the Grey Cup...even at the risk of alienating those who paid full price. They did offer plenty of 2 for 1s at the Grey Cup in 1998. The amount of effort you are putting into defending this is astounding, but WInnipeg is cheap. I was born and raised in Manitoba too and I came to be a cheap person myself, I dunno why you consider it some grave insult.
  5. Y is it around here when someone has a different opinion good or bad people like you jump on it as trolling? This is a forum no? Or is it a kumbyas let's not breathe a word of criticism your a troll only forum? It's more a case of choosing to believe that no one could possibly be that stupid so it must be trolling for a reaction. It's not about differing opinions, it's about opinions so unbelievably stupid.Ok who gets to decide that you?Noeller? If it is someone trolling just don't react no? Is Doug Brown an idiot too? It's a slippery slope your traveling.Cant believe im doing this. Its not rocket science. Back up your opinions with reasoning or else your opinions are worthless. Pretty much everyone here with the exception of a few tend to say their piece.. Why they feel that way.. And debate it. They dont say their piece.. Refuse to explain it or ration it out.. Then cry foul when people call it crap. People dont butt heads with you because you have a difference of opinion.. HALF this board does usually.. Maybe more so.. They butt heads with you because not only do you have zero substance but you act like someone pissed in your coffee when they disagree with you.. Condecending, insulting and belittling dont really get people far on this board. Lastly and I cannot stress this enough... You are more then welcome to have a differing view point. Read any thread and you can see for yourself how this board functions. Your attitude is what I have a problem with and your arrogance.. From the guy who said leave him alone, man when it comes to arrogance your the last poster here that can claim innocence.Instead of attacking y not just let it go? You think MOS is a good hc fine I don't fine its done it's like a Tim Burke saga all over again. At the end of the year we will find out. I don't believe you're arrogant for what it's worth, I just think you're of that same erroneous school of thought that all opinions are valid.
  6. yah but 17 to 85 explained earlier why almost wins don't count. I wish I could merge my two posts. If almost wins count for the riders they should count for us, if they don't count for the riders they shouldn't count for us either but then we're still ahead in real honest to god wins too.
  7. How things are presented absolutely matters. If you display an obvious biased when presenting data it's impossible to take seriously. I didn't read the link you posted, I won't read anything from that source because I don't consider it a good source. It's mostly good for a left wing back slapping session. I am pretty sure this is the last election Harper is leading the Conservatives through regardless of what happens.
  8. I've seen thetyee linked a few places, every time I don't look at the url and click on a link I'm shown a heavily biased piece that cares less about facts and more about an idea that left wing is better than right wing. It's not an unbiased source and it often skews facts to suit their argument.
  9. Isn't this what happens even when there is a majority? Less so actually, this last majority was a bit of an anomaly. The Liberals and NDP were just sooooo salty about the fact that Canadians didn't believe their little vote about the Conservatives being in contempt of parliament and gave them a majority. Remember folks, the NDP and Liberals know what Canadians want better than Canadians do.

Is Doug Brown an idiot too? It's a slippery slope your traveling. It's the stuff of kids in the school yard. The kids that have been there the longest think it's their school yard and they get to decide what is allowed. Read ahead and you'll see the terms laid out. It's basically threats "Ban him" followed by name-calling. "Stupid", "Troll", until the poor fellow conforms or leaves. Sad really. I'm not going to get into the reasons why they are like this but it is interesting to observe how flummoxed they get when the target of their aggression stands his ground and defies them. I wonder what happens next ... I only call people stupid if they post stupid things and don't provide a proper argument to back it up. You on the other hand seem to be of the opinion that every opinion is valid because everyone is allowed their opinions. That's a quaint notion that I wholeheartedly reject. There are plenty of opinions out there that are devoid or merit and are indeed stupid. You don't like being called out on dumb ideas then maybe apply some critical thinking skills and come up with some opinions that aren't stupid. Or just take your ball and go home, that's what people who can't apply critical thinking tend to do. For what it's worth, you're way off the mark if you think people standing their ground flummox me, I spend all my time here trying to get people to stand their ground so I can have a proper argument. You're not interested in that though, you just want your lunatic ideas given credit but no one gives stupid ideas credit because they're stupid. In summary get over yourself and realize that people are picking apart your dumb ideas because they're dumb not because they're different. You're not as smart as you think you are.

  12. Yeah it's like some people only watched the Hamilton and Edmonton games or something
  13. The fact that the polls have had the 3 parties at pretty similar levels of support makes them pretty meaningless. It's going to depend on who gets votes in what ridings and how many seats everyone gets. This is an area the Conservatives understand really really well and they do a lot of targetting of specific ridings to ensure they get seats. A slight lead for one party doesn't necessarily translate into a win on election night if the other party has enough seats. Either way we're likely looking at a minority government which means a few more years of fighting and bitching and painting the other guys as the devil incarnate.

  16. So the logic is just close losses? That doesn't fly. The Bombers first year under Lapo they lost a pile of close games didn't make the team any better. I ain't saying the Bombers are leaps and bounds better than anyone, but when you have lost every game this season and are down to qb#3 because of injuries you aren't better than anyone. Maybe they sweep the Bombers, certainly Labour Day is a historic win for them, but I don't buy the logic that they're better than the Bombers at this point. That just reeks of being overly negative about the Bombers compared to other teams in the CFL.
  17. Winnipeg sports fans ARE cheap. Let's see if they keep paying high prices for the Jets once the novelty wears off.
  18. I would love to read your rationale behind this statement to be honest. I'm not saying you're right or wrong, I just want to know why you are saying that before I decide if you're out of your mind or have some validity to it.
  19. Think about it, stand with your feet close together and see how stable you are, then widen your stance and see how it changes. Your feet are your base, if it's too narrow you lose balance and power.

  21. I think OShea is a good coach because the players play for him. No one played for Burke which is what made him a terrible head coach, but OShea is the kind of guy that players like because he treats them with respect and he's got their backs in public. As for the coordinators, Hall isn't my ideal defensive coordinator but he does have a good track record in the CFL, Bellefool too has a track record and it's consistent. Not terrible but not great, average at best. It's not ideal but again, average isn't the same as straight up bad. I have no idea how good the special teams coaching is, but I do know that a lot of the issues on special teams have really been errors on the part of players. So really the coaching staff may not be the best, but I don't think they are the major problem on this team right now. Too many places that need talent upgrades before we really pin point the coaches as holding the team back.
  22. So you're now saying that there are no cumulative effects to getting pounded game after game? Yeah, you're right, you're done. Sometimes there are, sometimes there aren't. The way his knee got landed on in Hamilton that injury likely happens to a completely healthy player too. That's the thing, football is a violent sport and there's lots of hits that take a guy from healthy to injured. Was it a result of the cumulative hits on him? I don't believe that for one second, to me it's just a guy getting hit in the knee and and injury resulting from it.
  23. I don't believe the coaching is sub par. I think we lack talent at canadian positions and along both lines and that makes whatever the coaches are doing largely irrelevant. Gotta be able to win the battles on the lines consistently in order to make the game plan work. Coaching to me is more about the final step of a championship team, I don't see this roster as being good enough yet to realistically compete for a championship outside of the "on any given sunday" idea.
  24. Yes, we've had a bad run of hiring coaches, no doubt. But you simply can't say - "hire the right coaches", there is no such magic concoction...unless it's a fairy tale book. We haven't just had a run of bad luck for 15+ years. We chose rookie coaches who we hoped would become good coaches. We fired coaches during the season when good coaches have jobs and replaced them with more rookie coaches. That's a systemic problem. My solution is to hire coaches who already know what they're doing, who have a history of winning and not to replace HC's during the season so you have your choice of the best coaches. The list of coaches who are proven and without jobs is limited to people who are retired or too old to do the job. That's why everyone is promoting coordinators. The real problem in Winnipeg is that they jumped the gun firing Ritchie, Berry and Lapo (even though I was never sold on Lapo) and replaced them mid season with worse options and never even tried to find better candidates once the offseason rolled around. (though in Berrys case they just hired the biggest fool going to replace him in the offseason) It's a lack of patience with the guys they do hire and then replacing them with worse options that is the problem. That is why we need to give this current group a good long run in charge. The roster wasn't great when they took over and it's not up to par yet either. Walters needs to get enough talent on this team before we get too critical of the coaches.
  25. To be completely fair it probably is the easiest part of the schedule. When they don't play themselves then they can't use the "playing saskatchewan" as the easy part of the schedule.
