  1. Marcel has himself a long track record in the CFL and it's not that pretty. Mediocre at best and consider this, when he was OC in Montreal people thought Calvillo was washed up because he was taking an awful lot of sacks... Marcel gets canned and Montreal is giving up less sacks and Calvillo goes on to have several more highly productive years. Bellefeuille is not a good offensive coordinator and yes there is likely more wrong than just him, but he's a big problem and probably the biggest problem.
  2. So are we at all concerned that Brady is just a coat tail rider? I mean working under coaches like Milanovich and with qbs like Calvillo and Ray is pretty ******* easy no?
  3. do we add it to the total sacks given up this year by the offence? I feel sorry for Marcel, and hope he does well. but the reality is that the best he'll do is mediocre.
  4. Reasons his offense was terrible: 1. Joey Elliot 2. Alex Brink 3. Steven Jyles (was actually moderately effective for only time in his career under Lapo) 4. Broken down Buck Pierce This team has already fired Lapo twice because the offense wasn't good enough, I'd rather not give him a third try.
  5. it's dishonest to suggest that Khari is just a mini Bellefool. It's also dishonest to suggest he's done anything as a coach that warrants giving him this job. I'll be pretty disappointed if he's the best we can do. Well he's been on some good staffs recently working under some good offensive coordinators... I think most of the negative thoughts about him as OC come from his time in Hamilton but come on, he was working under mr. average at best Marcel Bellefeuille with Mr. Average Kevin Glenn as his quarterback. Are we surprised the results there were average? That was quite a few seasons ago too. He worked with Drew Willy in Sask did he not? Perhaps that should be a check in his favour since Willy developed nicely? I ain't saying he is a slam dunk and yes I am a self admitted Khari fanboi, but the guy has put in the time as a positional coach sooner or later he's going to get another chance running an offence.
  6. Oh please, Khari and Kerwin Bell were basically the OCs in 2000, it's dishonest to suggest that Khari is just a mini Bellefool. He's also worked under some other damned good offensive coordinators in his time in the CFL and been coached as a player by Lapo as well. It's been a long time since he was OC with Bellefool as his head coach. I'd give him a chance.
  7. The D might have come out slowly in some games, but they adjusted and got better and gave the team plenty of chances. Sometimes you need your offence to take some heat off of them and that includes scoring your way out of troubles. Basically if the D wasn't phenomenal the team was in a big hole because the offence wasn't able to string any drives together.
  8. Jesus Christ, Lapo? Really? Do you people forget how terrible the O was when he was head coach here before? And when he was here in 2002 I am pretty sure that I coulda called a good offence with Stegall, Roberts, Sellers, Bruce and Khari at my disposal. Just say no to Lapolice. So over rated.
  9. But was he really that much of an upgrade over January, I don't think so, nor was Picard an upgrade over Morely. Like I said, it not how much you spend it's about spending it in the right areas. Who was our big free agent receiver signing last year, Wiliams, Ellison, Sinopoli.......oh wait, we picked Darvin Adams off the Argo scrap heap. They signed Moore the previous year as a big fish in the free agent receiving pool, and yes Stanley Bryant is a huge upgrade on January. You could include Westerman as a big free agent signing too. The point is that you can't rely on free agency to build a team. You need to be able to scout players because chances are that's your depth and depth was a huge problem for this team. Injuries were impossible to over come. There were plenty of big name receivers available this year, signing Moore 2 years ago is not an excuse to take a pass on them. iyo, Bryant is a huge upgrade over January or do you have something to back that up with. Free agency is a huge part of building a team when you don't have a scouting system to rely on like the Bombers The injury excuse is getting really old, several teams who lost their starting qb are in the playoffs and we are not. in the playoffs because their scouts did a better job with the depth, why is this argument hard to understand? And yes getting Moore 2 years ago does impact things in the following years. Signed Moore to a big contract, then extended Denmark to a big contract, how much money can you realistically tie up in one position? The free agent receiver moves were Moore and Denmark, they needed the scouts to bring in guys to supplement them and they utterly failed to do that. Your argument is pointless because the scouting department was just formed and could take years to pay any dividends. That is what happens when you staff it with noobs who are trying to build it from the ground up. Where is Walters supposed to get his talent from, pull it out of his ass, free agency and trades are the only options available to him which is why he has gone that route, why is this so hard to understand??? Two import receivers shouldn't be breaking the bank for any GM, especially the likes of Denmark & Moore. Which was exactly my point, it's not how much you spend, it's how you spend it. Just formed like 2 years ago. Walters has been on the job for closer to 3 years than 2, how long does it take to get the scouts doing their jobs? Joe Mack never had this much trouble finding rookies who could play and he didn't have much more time than Walters has had. Maybe, just maybe, we don't have good people in place in the scouting department and that's why we can't bring in players worth a damn at certain positions?
  10. We haven't had a coach or GM in place to carefully groom anyone and that's part of the problem. coaches get fired and they bring in a whole slew of new players or they throw them into the deep end too soon and they sink to the bottom.
  11. I'm not sure what world you're operating in where firing MB isn't an automatic. Quite honestly, I would take spinning a wheel with 12 plays on it to decide what we call over having him run our offense. If nothing else, it'd be less predictable. Yeah he's been reluctant to accept how bad Marcel is for a while and I don't know why. The evidence is slapping everyone in the face every week.
  12. Would disagree strongly with that. Of course you would, you are capable of rational thought. The defence wasn't perfect but they were better than the offence by very large amounts. The offence was quite frankly an embarrassment.
  13. Canada hates the TPP and America hates the TPP, but the corporations love it, that should be a concern to anyone. Corporations need to be slapped down by governments every now and then if you ask me. Keep them from becoming out of line and treating the general population and their work forces like scum.
  14. Didn't seem to be the case in BC, Hamilton or Sask this year. Happens all the time. Look at Cato in Montreal, he got figured out and was exposed. Sask was terrible despite Smith showing som flashes but he go exposed and then had Glenn to shelter him a bit more. BC Jennings is still in the honeymoon phase, that often ends like ti did with Marve here. Guys might come in and have a bit of initial success but the ones that don't see that dip are rare indeed. That's not a rushing QB problem in the CFL, it's just a inexperienced QB problem in the CFL. This is a hard league on passers. made harder by guys being rushed.
  15. No need for any picking of an alleged brain- all we need do is look at the game films for the past two seasons. Whether Bellefeuille is canned now or in 8 weeks, he is going to be paid out his salary regardless. There is a point to be made here, that incompetence has its consequence, and how long it takes to happen or if it happens at all will give us an insight into what the management thinking is. The "what not to do" should of tipped you off, to a wee bit of sarcasm...... People say I'm condescending. That means I talk down to them. Doesn't matter.....this past season has put me into Lucius Vorenus mode.... Lucius Vorenus was an insufferable ***** who alienated everyone around him because of his cuntiness.

Davis spent quite a bit of time in the pocket...wouldn't you rush too if you had our Oline...O coordinator...and receivers with dropsies? Rushing in the sense that you're putting too much on a guys plate before he's ready to handle it.

  20. If WIlly had stayed healthy and Burris had been done for the year before Labour Day would anyone be saying this? Walters has to get better but let's not pretend that Desjardins did anything special. Only team in the East to have their starting qb all season, I think they're the only team to have used the same OL all year... those are huge benefits. Do you think that had we gone through the whole season with the O-line we had coming out of training camp, we would have been all that much better??? Yes truthfully. Losing the RT had a pretty big impact on things because it kept pushing people into positions they couldn't handle.
  21. All 9 of those guys would make us a considerably better team. If we don't go hard in free agency this year, I will be extremely disappointed. They've gone hard in free agency both years under Walters and signed some of the bigger names available. It doesn't mean a damned thing if you can't draft well and can't supplement your free agent additions through your scouting.

  23. The team folded like a cheap tent in the games Willy got hurt. Very few stepped up throughout the season in the face of adversity. I would say that your assessment of the team being mentally weak was spot on. I think that's more a case of simply not having anyone capable of stepping up. Denmark isn't the kind of receiver who steps up when he has more pressure. He's a great supporting player in a receiving corps, but as a guy who can take it upon himself? Not really. Closest we have is Moore and he has his own issues. The run game was never used properly to be that dominant factor, plus with the OL getting blown up as consistently as they did you could never rely on it anyway. Simply put this team needs much more talent so that there are people who CAN step up in the face of adversity. You go back to the early 2000s if we needed a play you could generally rely on Roberts or Stegall to make that play. Who do we turn to now when we absolutely NEED a play? Kyle Walters needs to get his **** together this offseason. I agree with your assessment, but I found that the defense seemed to collapse after Willy was hurt in games. No one stepped up to make a key stop either. One could argue that they were on the field for inordinate lengths of time, but they just seemed to sag emotionally and give up big plays instead of making them. Maybe if we can keep the O on the field longer the D will reach its potential. Walters does have some work to do, regardless. The D got over that when they finally brought in Nichols, a qb that at least might be able to move the chains. Honestly the bulk of the playmakers on this team are on the defense and it showed because they made a lot of plays in games late this season, but the offense as per usual pissed them all away.
  24. It was plus 10 2 days ago here, today there's snow on the ground.
  25. Healthy qb and healthy OL. Seriously if Ottawa had to test their depth would they be sitting where they are? I don't think so. Similar thing in Winnipeg, when they're healthy the Bombers are a better team than they showed most of the season (and the record does reflect that) trouble is they lost the starting qb early and for the season, they lost their RB, lost some OL, had injuries at receiver... Just no way are they deep enough to over come injuries like that. I don't believe Ottawa is deep enough to overcome those kinds of injuries either but they didn't have to over come them and they had a good season as a result. How would the east have looked if Ray and Collaros had been healthy all year I wonder?
