Opinion piece from the national post =/= peer reviewed study. Just because a study done by academia disagrees with your preconceived ideas doesn't mean academia is out to lunch. The whole idea behind peer reviewed is that the thing is looked at by other experts and torn to pieces if possible. That's how academia works.
