  1. it sure was. All god damned day the rider fans were the mouthiest most annoying garbage you've ever experienced and then the obnoxiousness reached new levels after that kick was missed... except you could clearly see the flag was thrown and that it was against the riders. Once they announced the penalty you could literally hear the deflation among their fans and they got real quite. It was glorious. until being there for the 2019 Grey Cup it was maybe the best football experience I've been to.
  2. Notice how he needs someone else to help him lift that up?
  3. Matt Nichols had his best years here.... no ****! He was always hurt in edmonton and winnipeg was the only place he got to play. Nichols came in and played great and gradually got worse the longer he stayed to the point where he got his shoulder crippled. (Hey khari got his shoulder crippled too, go Lapo!)
  4. Hey I'll get along great when everyone else stops being wrong all the damned time.
  5. You just don't pay attention though... I give lapo his credit for generally being a smart guy who does have a decent playbook. I just trash the **** out-of him (deservedly so) for his arrogance, outsmarted himself, passive play calling, and horrible in game awareness. Essentially if you just le him draw up plays he might be ok but calling a game? Terrible. Also really going to disagree that he changed the offense to suit strevers strengths. He made streveler one dimensional. Guy who came in as a rookie and could pass suddenly can't because of the changes to the offense? Lapo likes his gimmicks.
  6. Will never understand why Paul Lapolice has so many apologists... Man has the same problems follow him around everywhere he goes but remains blameless in some people's eyes.
  7. Has to be one of the all time most naturally gifted athletes going right? To be that good without putting in the work is astounding.
  8. 01 I don't hold against Roberts, the one that bugs me is 2007. In a game you know you need to lean on a guy like him with a rookie qb getting his first start there's no excuses to show up in the alleged condition he did.
  9. Didn't he steal a team mates wallet or something earning the nickname kenton thief? Seems to me he is a guy with a well earned poor reputation who refuses to acknowledge his fault. In summary **** that guy for being a rider.
  10. based purely on his on field work 100%. Guy is a legend not only for the bombers but league wide. Just a shame that his lack of professionalism sour people's memory of the guy.
  11. to be fair we were cherry picking what we watched... I don't think it's a case of athletes being so much different, just a change in how guys are used and what type of player is being used at what positions. from 2001 through to now you've basically seen a dramatic evolution in what passes for a linebacker in the CFL. early 2000s was 3 pretty traditional linebackers which became one linebacker being pretty purely a DB position to the point now where your other outside linebacker better be pretty damned good in coverage and your middle linebacker needs the versatility as well to be all over the field. I don't think there's a huge transformation in athletes from then to now, more just improvements in the ability to keep players healthy and recover better from injuries.
  12. you don't think you could drop 2001 era Doug Brown into todays game and have him still be a top player? The biggest difference on the defensive lines right now IMO is that everyone uses heavy rotations to keep players fresh moreso than a dramatic change.
  13. and how many failed 3rd and short gambles because the line got absolutely worked? This is why everyone hates rider fans. they actually believe the crap they spew in that echo chamber.
  14. Every single one of them actually bought into the hype that Faj was a good qb because he was West MOP* in 2019. As if that actually meant anything.
  15. And they tried to use the blueprint Hamilton did to do it to!
  16. Maybe the best front in the league... missing some huge pieces.... fullback made plays! Yeah exploiting the 3rd string special teamer playing in place of injuries... faj didn't get sacked but he was hardly free and clean all night. The delusion is strong when you are grasping at straws like that. Come the 4th quarter when it mattered it was domination.
  17. I dunno man, Milt and Roberts would make plays against that D. The issue would be how many times would they turn the ball over. Back then the bend but don't break D gave teams absolute fits because no one could systematically march the ball down the field. That being said considering how much lighter LBs have gotten since then Sellers might have tossed some guys into the 3rd row blocking.
  18. I am not sure they were less than the sum of their pieces... they were just a really shallow team that relied on the stars being stars.
  19. Even with Rourke BC never scared me. Too much of a glass cannon. I don't see them as the team to grind out a win.
  20. Plus they're veterans.
  21. Yeah the rider fans crapped all over mcadoo for his boring ass offense, but he tailored it to what his qb could do. Moved the pocket Ll the time, lots of shirt quick throws, lots of rushing. It's what you gotta do with a limited qb. Jason Maas though... he doesn't have the patience for that. He wants a qb that can make all the throws and play from the pocket and the run game is just an afterthought.
  22. They had good stats in 01, but it was 02 that they absolutely clowned the league. I still think 02 was their shot at a cup if not for literally every star getting hurt just in time for playoffs.
  23. 01 maybe had bigger stars but way less depth.
