Fred C Dobbs reacted to Slimy Sculpin in Top 5 Bomber QBs
It's hard to argue with the list of QBs offered up. Although he is on no one's top 5 list and most of you won't remember him, here's a good read on Ken Ploen's competition in the late 1950s.

But for an injury and the US draft, it could have been Kenny Who?

His son, also named Ernie is my friend on Facebook. He told me that a movie of his father's life is in the making.

Some pretty juicy candidates for the #53 spot, including Pat Neufeld, Philip Hunt, Steve Patrick, Dom Picard and Aaron Brown (although both wore other numbers), and rocket man Pete Catan, but the selection is a Ring of Honour member and defensive player of the half century.

One of my favourite Blue Bomber player. Middle Linebacker Phil Minnick #54 chasing down Ti Cats Halfback D i c k Cohee during the 1965 Grey Cup. A bad knee injury early in the 1970 season required Minnick to miss nearly two full seasons as well as having played on some very bad football teams after this Grey Cup appearance prevented Minnick from being mentioned as one of the CFL Elites at the middle linebacker position. Had he stayed healthy & played on competitive Bomber teams, I believe he'd have been mentioned with players of his era like Jerry "Soupy" Campbell, Mark Kosmos, Don Bahnuik, Ray Nettles & Wayne Harris.

Roger Savoie #62. Born in Winnipeg. He played his high school football at Provencher High School & played his junior football with the Winnipeg Rods. Savoie played 14 seasons with the Bombers from 1951-1964. He played in 7 Grey Cup games, winning four. Savoie was a 1962 Western Conference All Star at Offensive Tackle. He was a member of the Manitoba Sports Hall Of Fame.

Randall is a guy who could eventually fill the role left by stove. Similar extreme physical talent in a nose prospect, stove has a much higher football IQ and top tier drive to improve. That said, for a guy to miss 2 years of ncaa football due to academic issues, over come that and come back more dominant than ever says a lot about his work ethic and character.
The bombers scout DTs extremely well. Randall might be raw but he could be a real gem.

Johnson is an extremely talented guy who had some injury issues. He also has tons and tons of heart. He played both ways a bunch as a senior.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed defensive tackle Kenneth Randall.
The six-foot-two, 302-pound Randall played his NCAA career at the University of Charleston with the Golden Eagles. He earned first-team All-Mountain East Conference honours in 2019 and finished his collegiate career with 64 tackles, seven sacks and two forced fumbles.
Randall signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021 as an undrafted NFL free agent and attended the team’s training camp.
The Blue Bombers also signed offensive lineman Leon Johnson.
The six-foot-five, 332-pound Johnson spent four years at Temple University with the Owls. He made 10 starts at left tackle during his senior season including the season-opener against Notre Dame in which he served as one of the team captains. Johnson started 14 games at right tackle during his junior year.
Prior to signing with Winnipeg, Johnson signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted NFL free agent in 2018 and attended the team’s training camp. He signed with the Salt Lake Stallions of the Alliance of American Football for the 2019 season. Johnson would later go on to sign with the Calgary Stampeders in 2020 and saw action with one start in 2021.

Happy Monday all!
3 days to the new jersey unveiling! I hear it won’t be this so already a win:
And only 20 days until training camp opens! 46 days away from the regular season. Three-peat here we come!

Regardless of origin, Hansen is a big time component of the last 2 championship seasons. As a valued teammate/team member, there is no way the league should be dictating his wage. It’s OK to throw a gazillion dollars at the Lawlers and Dukes of the league but Thiadric can’t get a bump? Bullshit!

Anecdotally I can tell you my in-laws from Germany visited in the summer of 2019 and they were surprised and intrigued to find out a German was playing for the local 'American Football' team that I seemed to be so obsessed with. I took them to a game and pointed him out every time he was on the field. They didn't really follow the game but they still had a lot of fun (we won 31-1, it was wild). Fast forward a few months when we win the cup and I get texts from Germany saying they had tuned in to watch the Grey Cup and were happy for our city. It all started with mentioning Hansen played for us. So at least on the smallest scale I've seen CFL 2.0 generate interest outside our borders. How it translates to money is still in question

Who was a better receiver, Joe Popawski, Jeff Boyd, Perry Tuttle or James Murphy? I'd say that Joe Pop was probably the #4 receiver in that group. Probably the slowest & maybe even had the worst hands although that could be argued as he made many, many incredible clutch & sure handed grabs as did the others. And yet, Joe Pop reached a thousand yards receiving or was pretty damned close every year he played. It didn't matter if he was #1 or #4. he produced because he was given the chance, something Wolitarsky has not been allowed to do.

Fox News is not a credible news source.
1. Fox News is currently being sued by Smartmatic for repeatedly making false claims about their machines and the 2020 US Election.

Hence the importance of fact-checking and journalistic integrity, more than ever before.
There are actual, verifiable, proven facts and those still matter today.

That really drives home how pathetic voters in the US are. Trump stood up and told everyone he was corrupt and they lapped it up.
Misogyny and racism are the core values in the US.

Newt Gingrich: wiki
"According to Harvard University political scientists Daniel Ziblatt and Steven Levitsky, Gingrich's speakership had a profound and lasting impact on American politics and health of American democracy. They argue that Gingrich instilled a "combative" approach in the Republican Party, where hateful language and hyper-partisanship became commonplace, and where democratic norms were abandoned. Gingrich frequently questioned the patriotism of Democrats, called them corrupt, compared them to fascists, and accused them of wanting to destroy the United States. Gingrich furthermore oversaw several major government shutdowns.
University of Maryland political scientist Lilliana Mason identified Gingrich's instructions to Republicans to use words such as “betray, bizarre, decay, destroy, devour, greed, lie, pathetic, radical, selfish, shame, sick, steal, and traitors” about Democrats as an example of a breach in social norms and exacerbation of partisan prejudice.

I recoil at the thought of the Democrats being considered "left". They are to the left of the GOP but no where on the left of the political spectrum.

On this I agree. If the Democrats had fielded any kind of a candidate that connected with people then a narcissistic ,lieing , womanizing, failed businessman would never have been elected in the 1st place
