MB's play calling
Watching that play again, I like that they didn't roll Willy out. For one, you cut off an entire half to 3/4 of the field by doing that, plus you also give defenders better access to disrupt the passing lanes. Westwood was yelling about that on the radio yesterday, why didn't they roll Willy out, but didn't seem to put any thought into the pros and cons of that in terms of passing the ball. If Lefevour was our QB, I'd probably roll out. Looked like they were matching Hamilton in the box, Bryant and Feoli-Gudino came up to the line on the right side to block as Hamilton overloaded the weak-side opposite Grigsby's alignment, clearly defending any off-tackle or sweep type running play. 3 guys in the route, Willy can read all of them from the pocket. Kelly and Denmark run a post corner, Kelly is covered coming into the middle of the field, where more bodies are, not an option, Denmark is covered on his corner, Grigsby is in the clear but the DE who is covering him is chasing wildly and in the passing lane. Willy makes an amazing adjustment and throw to lead Grigsby into open space and drop it in on him. Only thing I didn't like about that play was the line call. Slide protect left/strong when Hamilton has the offensive right/weak-side overloaded in case the Bombers try to run Grigsby off tackle. January, Greaves and Morley all ended up blocking the same guy when 2 Ticats from the right side of the line (essentially Willy's blindside with the route going to the left side of the field) came through as Bryant and Feoli-Gudino ended up blocking them 2 on 3. January, Greaves and Morley would have still been 3 on 2 had Gascon-Nadon not bailed into coverage.

Tim Tebow to the Als?
Adding another quarterback who cannot pass can only help.

Tim Horton Field Not Ready Until Labour Day (Maybe)
It'll be ready for the Pan Am games. Bonus for the CFL if it's ready before then.

MB's play calling
I don't know who was responsible for calling the last play of the game but that was an insane choice imo. They only needed 3 yards to score, a quick slant in and a bullet to Denmark has better odds than throwing a rainbow across the field to a RB. I was virtually stunned when that play succeeded. The middle of the field was full of bodies. It's cover 0, you're basically giving Grigsby the opportunity to outrun a LB, or in this case DE that Hamilton put on him. The ball was thrown high and dropped in because the defender was underneath the route, that's just a brilliant play by Drew Willy.

Bomber property in the NFL
Sounds like the guy who was wearing 13 here last season.

I'd love to see Stoudermire get a look, sit Unamba. Not sure why they'd add Stoudermire if he's not playing. With the ratio situation, at various points we can go all import at DB, LB or DL.

Week 6 Depth Chart
Not sure where they had him on the depth chart, but Kelly has played exclusively slot this season, and been fairly productive. Denmark had been playing boundary WR before all the injuries. Not a fan of Romby. Reminds me of when the tube of toothpaste is basically empty and I twist it to squeeze anything that's left out. That's where he's at in his career. I'd be surprised if he makes any difficult catches.

D video
My favourite part is how quick the other players switch to blocking when we turn the ball over. They aren't surprised by it.

Hefney coaching?
Geez and I thought he was released because he refused to move to LB. He got released because he was facing marijuana possession charges. The LB controversy was in 2012.

Nice to see those "full" stadiums ...
McMaster is in Hamilton. Like 10 minutes away from Tim Hortons Field.

Hefney coaching?
Hefney didn't have an attitude problem as much as an opinion which became a media talking point. He felt that he was more valuable to the team as the weak-side HB than SAM, but he played SAM and played it well when he was put there. That was when Burke was scrambling and moving everyone all over the secondary because the career years everyone had in 2011 didn't happen again in 2012, imagine that. Maybe should have adjusted the scheme.

They also built a ridiculous number of golf courses everytime it was somewhat popular. And really, golf will always be a niche sport. It takes a long time and a lot of practice to even be moderately good at it, and you have to spend 3-4-5 hours at a time to play a round. I kind of fear that indoor soccer will be the golf of this generation, build a bunch of facilities and have no demand for them in 20-30 years. At least those indoor soccer facilities can be repurposed.

Number Two QBs
And no pocket presence, combined with the deliberate release. Even with all the terrible QB's we've had over the years, I can't recall anyone getting hit nearly as many times in mid-delivery as Brink. He'd be a very good CFL QB if that improved.

Travon Jones Saga Conclusion
We've only brought in...what...10 RB's since he said he signed here?

Yes. The industry of sports figured out how to monetize television broadcasts, led by the NFL. It's worth more to have the skyrocketing rights fees and eyeballs for advertising than the couple thousand people (which could be less or more depending on the city) who might choose to go to a game if they can't watch it on TV. IMO, several teams are missing an opportunity to get more butts in seats. Bombers are a prime example. Those corner endzone seats that never sell should go for $10-$15. Get people in the building, get them buying concessions and merchandise, maybe even provide a good enough experience that someone comes back in a more expensive seat. Better to sell that seat for $10 than have it sit empty for 9 games.

Coaches Show July 28
It would be a much better program with a lot more ground covered if they took questions via Twitter and e-mail. Just taking the preamble from the questions would probably add several minutes of actual show time.

Coaches Show July 28
Love the guy who always asks about forcing OL to wear leg braces in practice. Force has to go somewhere. When you wear a restrictive brace on your knee, you are putting more strain on your hip and ankle, and vice-versa for any joint.

I'd like to see (assuming these guys are healthy) these changes to our 42: IN Kelly Cotton Greaves Markett Suber OUT Bryant Grigsby Knapp/Howard Unamba Norris/Cornell I'm assuming Greaves might take Alexander's spot on the 44. Bucknor and Sherman would be able to rotate in one NI spot on D, and if they are on the field at the same time we could go all import on the DL. Kelly will definitely be back on his spot if he's healthy and Bryant will be either on the 46 or 1-game IR. Greaves will come in this week barring any setback. Knapp will go to 1-game IR. so -1 Intl. I agree with Cotton for Grigsby. Unamba played well last game so I dont he's coming off. But we can definitely roster one of Suber/Markett to complete the 20 Int'l. No need to take off 1 of Norris/Cornell, Swiston (who took Alexander's spot) can move from 44 to 46. Good point. Unamba isn't as good as Markett or Suber on D. They can all play that gunner spot on cover teams, all have at various stages of their career. I'd much rather have Markett and Suber available for D. who plays WIL/Dollar if Dunn goes down? Probably end up with Kuale and Wild on the field at all times, maybe an extra DB on passing downs. I'm not sure that Unamba would get a lot of reps over Wild and Kuale if Dunn went down in any game to this point.

Number Two QBs
Replaced by who? Tanner Marsh? The only difference between Smith and Marsh is the color of their skin. Both of them can't do much but erratically throw the ball deep. I'm a little surprised Neiswander was never picked up actually. lol Not saying that he's great, but better than Alex Brink at least. Brink has a wind-up, but Neiswander has no arm whatsoever.

Did you watch the pre-season or pay attention to the first week of the season? Grigsby made the team because Cotton and Ford were injured. Cotton won the job and got hurt in the 4th quarter of the 2nd pre-season game. The hype isn't coming from nowhere. Grigsby has been awful. You can't block for a guy who runs 10 yards east-west before he makes a cut upfield.

I'm sure Troy Smith will play better now that he knows that throwing for 45 yards and a 13 QB rating is unacceptable.

Which Coach gets an early paid Vacation?
Edmonton has had over 30,000 for every home game, which is pretty good considering their fanbase has been just as alienated as ours in recent years. At McMaster you aren't allowed to have liquor in the seating area, thus the crush in the endzones and people not in their seats. Calgary is about 2000 below where they are in a good year for attendance, but still well clear of any significant issue. BC's attendance is always all over the map, even within the same season, good luck finding a trend there. Toronto and Montreal are going to be huge problems, Montreal especially IMO. When it comes down to it, a solution will be found for the Argos. I don't think it will be nearly as easy for Montreal if Wetenhall or his family decide to bail.
