I really doubt the CFL does that. I don't know what the CFLPA would think, but I think managers wouldn't go for it anyway. You're competing with the NFL for a lot of these players too. Think of a guy like Corney. If he had to take a certain contract and didn't necessarily like it, he might skip training camp and wait around for a NFL shot. This situation is just a bully trying to get a rookie to take a discount. Don't think it's a trend.

I don't see Adams being much of a pro QB anywhere. He doesn't have a very good arm. He struggled with basic drills in a QB camp hype piece I watched that he was a part of on NFL Network. They couldn't even make him look good. Accuracy is a concern. I also think he's one of those guys who thinks he'll come up to the CFL and get to play right away (likely part of the reason behind this trade). If he doesn't check that attitude he won't make it through the season.

The decline has been steeper under Johnson's watch. He's done the opposite of what he said he would. He's made the job of the officials more difficult and complicated. Adding replay to subjective calls hasn't helped at all.

I'd only put Bucknor on the field if the opposition promises to keep one receiver outside the far hashmarks. I honestly don't see how he makes this team. Wonder if he even gets to training camp. If he's not starting there's not much cake to having him on the roster because there are loads of guys ahead of him special teams-wise.

Wish we could get a regular road jersey. Not a huge fan of the shoulder strips.

Loffler has barely played since he left high school, only 2 seasons out of 5. Waggoner played 42 games of D1 and was an all-conference player.

That was 09 against Montreal. The punt return where Jovon ran completely across the field twice and Hefney made a block coming back to get him the edge.

So far Walters has drafted useless receivers because they have nice testing and CIS numbers. If he drafted a useless receiver who could play special teams that would be an improvement. Draft solid football players, have a good football team. Draft projects, stay in neutral.

He didn't refuse to play SAM. He said when asked by the media that he's an all-star at weak side HB and the secondary as a unit was likely weaker with him at SAM. He played SAM in the next game in Toronto and played how he always did.

I wonder how much evaluation they could actually do with no ability to have 1 on 1 battles for receivers and OL. More of a check in on mental reps and seeing what kind of shape they are in.

I could see them using a returner by committee approach. Dressler is a hell of a punt returner and efficient about it too. I thought Stoudermire was a pretty good DB when we got to see him a few times, never really understood why they wouldn't use him there more and tried to shoehorn him into the offense.

Fixed into the ground the goalposts move quite a lot in any kind of wind. You really think it would be ok to have a set just sitting there with all the people on the field and 30000 in the stands? People would die...like every season, get crushed by uprights. The uprights are exponentially larger (height and weight) than a basketball hoop and support.

Way too soon to read anything into where guys are lining up or "first team, second team." Barely worth mentioning until the 2nd preseason game, and even then the team is far from set.

I'm not sure why they'd move Adams. The boundary corner spot requires a pretty solid skill set for a DB. You need a guy who can play the ball/make the tackle under 10 on pretty much the entire route tree, and be able to do that with minimal support on most downs, not much margin for error. There aren't many guys who do it well. If you have one, why play around? The only more important spot is SAM for pretty much the same reasons with an added layer of intelligence required.

How much do you think Demski is worth? I don't think money will be a problem at all if they want him.

They are developing NFL officials. This has effectively created an opportunity for any good refs we have or develop in this program to jump the border, and much like the players, it's pretty much a no-brainer to make that jump.

Nichols makes horrible decisions far too often to ever keep himself on the field. He's a good option relative to many other horrible ones like Marve etc, but if he's starting half our games or more we are far below .500 after 18 games.

See the responses in this thread. Media outlets cater to the lowest common denominator, the gut feels, the pitchforks. No scheme is going to cover Patty Neufeld or Dominic Picard getting their asses handed to them play after play on the interior. We can necro some of the love from the Lapolice thread from when he was hired 4 weeks into the season when the same people have the same complaints and thought the coach would fix it.

Didn't find it that negative myself. Our OL is relying on at least one bad player and two young guys as it stands, haven't heard any talk about going to 3 imports. Our boundary WR (Adams) is not the sharpest knife in the drawer even if he has all the physical tools, and that's one of the guys who can bail out the QB when he needs it. Our DL on the whole is average to weak until we see someone step up and take that end opposite Westerman. Shologan and Thomas give adequate play, but aren't difference makers. Hopefully Cummings can be one inside. Still a lot of questions in important spots and Lapolice isn't a saviour for the offence.

You haven't seen a kicker intentionally avoid attempting to make a tackle? Seriously? Watch almost any long return and you'll see it. There are a handful of kickers in pro football with any tackling instincts. Usually the best you can hope for is that they'll force the returner to cut inside. Westwood would literally run at a 45 degree angle to the returner and just run with him until the guy went past. That's a common one, run but not with any intent, run to the sideline.

They are essentially voting yay or nay on his ideas. So far they've pretty much gone along with his ideas to the detriment of the game.

Looks like they are loading up on receivers for mini-camp. Bet a bunch don't make it to main camp.

What he said.^ For one, stop adding rules every off-season. Hand in hand with that, focus on the basics. I honestly don't understand what Glen Johnson's job is. To come up with random ideas that he can put out there every off-season to remind everyone that he still exists and works for the CFL? Product has suffered under him.

Do you forget that there are 4 downs when you're watching American football? I honestly don't believe it could be much worse. There are dozens of basic rule application mistakes made by guys who have been officiating Canadian football forever. Might be good to have some fresh eyes and people who aren't over confident in their knowledge of the game. Unless there is a path to high NCAA or NFL I don't see many good refs being interested in working in Canada though.
