  1. Hard to tell much from this game really. Some solid individual efforts but coaches will be looking at them in context of what the assignments were. That context is important. I loved the physicality of Gemmel out there. Kind of reminded me of Lobendahn. Heavy player you can tell guys playing against him wouldn’t have a fun time. Wilson looks like a CFL QB. Like both his comfort in pocket and on a rollout. Solid arm, mobility when he needs it. Barriere looks like a guy who played at a great school and fit the system.
  2. Ontaria Wilson has got a lot of reps with first team O. That’s a pretty good indicator of who is getting the longest looks for better or worse.
  3. Of note on Vann coming out of the SEC: Averaged 15.1 yards per punt return in 2022.
  4. From what O’Shea said about him during Rookie Camp it sounded like he was limited and it was a chronic lower-body issue. Not sure it’s something that will get better he’s just trying to squeeze out a couple more shots at making a team.
  5. Sorry but if you think nothing has changed in terms of preventing head injuries in contact sports you must have been in a coma for the past 30 years.
  6. True. Hard to get and keep a spot if you keep going to IL. Opens the door for other guys to win the job.
  7. I’d be in favour of dropping the starting requirements. Keep the roster breakdown the same. If you really want flip 2-3 American spots Canadian since QBs won’t be separated anymore. Every player in the lineup will get used. The fight is that salaries will drop. You won’t have even a pretty good player like Neufeld getting a premium for being Canadian. You’ll have more of a sway toward guys getting paid their actual value.
  8. Could see Bighill kind of being that extra coach on the 6 game type guy if he's not going to play. Save money on two caps at once.
  9. They should though. They are likely repped by a CFLPA approved agent. You'd think you would do a little digging on your career prospects, how the league works, the team they are going to etc.
  10. I mean the Americans coming in here as tailbacks realize that the incumbent is a Canadian who was just up for MOP? And we have a Canadian backup who has been here for more than half a decade? There's literally no roster spot for them. They are coming in to try to steal a practice roster spot or a shot with another team. I'm not even sure they'd really consider them for return duty unless they blew everyone's socks off because they'll want cover for another spot through that role, likely receiver.
  11. Yeah he will. We're not exactly bursting with Canadians. Lots of rookies.
  12. One person who is extremely conflicted in this current situation says he was fined but offers no context or substance with it (like "I was fined in 2012 for complaining about the schedule") and there's no record of the fine easily found online. Why are you so far up Barker's butt?
  13. Guess the point with Holm is to let things play out and see some guys play ball before they are crowned or discarded. Just ironic that you **** on some guys who have huge and productive tenure based on pedigree but want someone who we've barely seen play who came from the least competitive conference in U Sports anointed.
  14. I'm going to say no. He has it in very brief glimpses where he still makes some plays on the ball but he was more of a liability in a lot of games last year than I think we would get from an average player. I was surprised he made it to this camp. I thought he would have been one of the vets they moved on from.
  15. Jake Kelly? What about him makes you think he'd be a better starter in the secondary than Kramdi or Hallett? We jumped the shark lol. Should we cut Evan Holm still?
  16. There's no defending or deflecting from the Argo coverup either. It's pretty transparent what Barker's tactic is. The guy is involved personally.
  17. The land where the backup QB is the coach/GM's son in law and most of the personnel staff are related. 😆
  18. What a lot of the criticism is in not even of the league response yet. The Argos knew this was going on last season and did nothing. The evidence on that is pretty clear. They prioritized their starting QB being in the lineup over safety of the rest of their team. This issue was reported, discussed by football operations even players and documented by them well before it became a public issue. I don't view the comments as out of line at all. In fact they are supporting league policies that aren't being upheld by certain organizations like the one Barker was last employed by up to 2022. In the absence of any substance his argument is null, yes.
  19. That could have been 25 years ago. He could also be completely full of ****.
  20. The pedigree of the American middle type guys they brought in this year is pretty high. Gemmel, Petrishen, Moses. Wilson is getting up there too. Hopefully rebounds 2nd year off achilles.
  21. Barker is an idiot trotting out a false equivalency from 15 years ago. Nobody is criticizing the league. They are criticizing the Argos and idiots like Pinball and Barker. Barker is taking is personally because he brought Kelly to the league and is all in.
  22. Quebec is crazy competitive though. I watch a ton of FCS and D2. Even in a good conference like Missouri Valley the lower half of that league is full of guys who wouldn't make Laval or Montreal. Canada West is not a great development league for the CFL anymore. UBC is strong, no one else really is anymore. Ontario is somewhere in between. The guys coming out of Laval or Montreal, even Sherbrooke, Concordia and McGill are ready to go. Kramdi's biggest issue was injuries since he's been here.
  23. I mean they needed Hurl because they had no depth. Kramdi stole an Americans job when he was finally healthy. They paid Mike Miller hundreds of thousands of dollars for the past 2 years to be not very useful and mostly injured. That was a bad one. Trying to make him into an effective player on O was painful. We've spent basically O'Shea's entire time here trying to shoe horn guys who aren't suited to be a H back into being an H Back. Tons of guys around if that position is valued both American and Canadian. See last few years teams bringing more Americans like that up as that "R" spot becomes more about versatility to come in and block but also be able to go out, run a route and catch a ball downfield. Somehow we used an American spot on a guy who was even more useless than some random U Sports player for that role.
