  1. The board software tracks what you've read and you can jump to the last thing you read on a thread by clicking on the little star or circle to the left of the thread title. Really makes those long threads more readable, for me anyway.
  2. That's the standard thing for a DC to do to a rookie QB, isn't it? Blitz until the rook makes you pay for it?
  3. okay, I've complained about thread proliferation, and I was probably a little irritable about it, and I regret that. This site is my primary source for Bomber news and analysis, so I like to read that stuff instead of the editorial / opinion stuff that I could get from Friesen if I wanted it. If I were God-Emperor of MBB, here's the thread creation rhythm I'd want: Around The League 2018 Season -- all non-Bomber news for the whole season. (There was a super great week in review/preview thing we had last year, I can't remember who posted it, but they used the word balloon emoji a lot. Tweets and news bits with embedded reactions that were usually apt or funny. Would love to see that return. Was it called In Case You Missed It?) Bomber Game Week / Bye Week Thread -- opens on Monday on game week, tracks all the Bomber news for that week (Streveler starting, etc) Game Day Thread obvs numerous free-for-all post-game analysis threads -- there are trusted names in this business, I know to look for the good ones. Legit large developments (Jones fired, Nichols gets bionic legs, Dickenson appoints himself short-yardage QB for Stamps) get their own threads. But really, I'm gonna chill out on this topic from here on out.
  4. yeah, FMB not getting cut caught my eye too. Wonder if they're trying to trade him?
  5. How would we get Bond on the field? Some rotation of Thomas/Corney/Briggs/Jones on D?
  6. ah, not the same Brandon Stewart.
  7. Dude, when your prime source is AKAChip... If you're gonna make a thread that's just wild assed guessing, please just call it that, instead of giving it a title that looks like it's gonna have legit news in it
  8. Gonna go back and look at that Calgary finale from last year, the one where Lapo had the Fever run the most conservative game plan I've ever seen in the CFL. Not a pass over five yards. Bet that's what we see while we're waiting for Nicholls.
  9. man, I really wish I knew what happened to make them give up on Davis in the space of two quarters. I have no idea whether Davis is a legit CFL QB or not, but the Bombers saw something in him for a couple years ... and then, bam, gone after thirty minutes.
  10. speaking of cfl.yaretv.com, they are broadcasting tomorrow's BC / Winnipeg game for free, perfect opportunity to check em out.
  11. I used a Netherlands VPN. Streams maxed out at 720p. Don't know how much bandwidth that translates into. Didn't have outages that I remember .... the main hassle was waiting for games to show up in the on-demand archive. There was at least one game that didn't show up in the archive. Yaretv tech support was not super good. At $80 for the season plus ~$10/mo for the VPN, you're looking at $140ish for the season .. not a huge savings over TSN streaming if you've got the option of using either one. But if you just want to stream Bomber games or the odd single game, yaretv is way better.
  12. Maybe a futures move ... Reilly is high mileage and Glenn is a guy who changes teams annually. Maybe they don't believe in Cline or any other of the camp QBs as Reilly's successor. Wonder how long Adams is signed for...
  13. I was pretty stoked when we signed Durant, I'd always been a fan of his, at his best he made plays that no other CFL QB could. But yeah as of today I'd rather start the season 0-6 than see him signed as an emergency starter.
  14. The torchlight parade in Charlottesville -- the explicitly Nazi one, where marchers chanted "Jew will not replace us!" and terrorized local people -- was led by Richard Spencer, who was a featured speaker at the main rally the next day. Spencer was not an interloper in those circles. He did not co-opt a movement of benign good-faith Confederate apologists who just wanted to preserve some statues. He was an honored guest of the organizers. (Spencer is a guy who once called for "peaceful ethnic cleansing" in the USA and who has a long rap sheet of association and leadership with white supremacists. He is best remembered for such internet videos as "Nazi Gets Punched to the Music of Depeche Mode" and "Nazi Gets Punched To Beethoven's 'Ode To Joy'" and "Nazi Gets Punched to 'We Will Rock You'". He does not do public rallies anymore, claiming that the antifa has made them "no fun.")
  15. Yes, this is why the US military is still largely conscripted.
  16. Thread title needs to be amended to "Argos at TSN Game Story Johnny Manziel." Argos O is on the field, TSN goofballs are still going on about Johnny Football. Even more annoying than usual for TSN. I like the ref cam tho.
  17. Saw Solo. It was the usual kind of Ron Howard movie, it's really well-made but not great. I give it a B.
  18. Good news for US-based CFL fans -- we now have way better viewing options, via Roku, Apple TV, etc. https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/how-to-watch-the-canadian-football-league-on-roku-fire-tv-apple-tv/
  19. The US / North Korean summit has very quickly fallen apart. Trump is learning, as has every recent US president, that the DPRK regime is not a bunch that's inclined to just sit down and talk things over. I thought this summit could've resulted in an agreement -- Trump agrees to withdraw US troops from South Korea in exchange for some kind of DPRK nuclear arms control treaty. That'd be a huge win-win for Trump, with fewer US forces in harm's way plus a nuclear treaty that keeps the USA mainland safe from Kim missiles. It would have destabilized Korea badly, though, and had huge repercussions for all of Asia, and I really have to question if the DPRK would hold to a nuclear control treaty.
  20. This is a very interesting read, in the context of this thread: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/believe. I encourage folks to read it.
  21. you said it -- Smith / Dunigan is TSN's best broadcast team AINEC. Smith is a real pro at calling the action and doesn't push out much beyond that and that leaves all kinds of airtime for Dunigan to a) break down mistakes and successes like a coach and b) lose his freaking mind with excitement when he sees something amazing, like a fan. I think my dream CFL celebrity scenario is just watching a game live with Matt and listening to him go on about it. Re: the panel changes I like that they're finally putting someone from the D on the panel. Never listened to Sanchez's podcasts, though, so I have no idea how good he is at talking about the CFL. But my main hope for the panel is that they have the same clothing sponsor as they had last year because Milt and Matt were just killing it, game in, game out.
  22. re WR depth, I looked at the numbers for a few teams a couple seasons ago ... the teams I looked at all started 4 import receivers and all needed 10-12 different guys at that position over the course of a year. Since our plan is only to start three we maybe won't need as many but you really gotta have depth at the receiver position. There's no way our import WRs 4 thru 8 will be full-time practice roster bodies.
  23. For me, pushing an airborne receiver out of bounds is just a variation on "Qb and the receiver make the proper reads etc etc" but then the DB makes a play and jars the ball loose and it's no catch. Gotta win the whole play, not just the catch.
  24. I hope that if he gets into a peep of trouble, the Ticats and/or the CFL ship his ass home. Dude's got some bad stuff on his rap sheet.
