  1. The defnnece was bad before... but it does seem like it got substantially worse when they stopped playing Johnson at DT. Then got even worse when we lost Walker. Which does attest to the depth of player personnel on defence. Not having Ian Wild did seem to hurt us also...

But im not defending Hall because even when everyone is healthy the defence is still soft and is still always one of the worst in the points against category

First off, nobody ever deserves this punishment. Ever.

Secondly, I understand your gripe with the our defensive struggles; but I would argue our league is just having an abundantly offensive year, I've summarized the points per game, by team, below:

    Team                                         Points per game
    Calgary (8-1-1)                           18.70
    Ottawa (4-6-1)                           25.00
    Saskatchewan (5-4)                25.22
    Toronto (4-7)                              25.27
    Montreal (3-7)                            26.30
    League average                        27.19
    B.C. (5-5)                                      27.40
    Edmonton (7-3)                       29.50
    Winnipeg (7-3)                        31.60
    Hamilton (1-8)                         36.89

So, based on this - Winnipeg, on average, gives up 1 field goal more than the  league average. It's also interesting that 3 of the "better" teams in the west (us, B.C. and Edmonton) all give up more points per game than the league average, yet have some of the better records in the league. Not sure if its valid, but it'd be interesting to see the points per game of the eastern teams versus western opponents, since I'm fairly certain that some of the low-scoring east-east affairs have caused their numbers to be artificially low (such as the Als 21-9 win over the Argos).

4.41 points per game is more than a field goal. I know your name is eternal optimist but your skewing facts to try and make it seem like its not as bad as it is... i could turn around and say our defence gives up 2 times the amount as calgary's.

Our defence is the second worst on the league. Thats the way it is. We need to get better in that area if we are going to make a real run for the cup. Im not expecting a 2011 dominant defnece here. A 2007 top 3 type of defence would be just fine. If we can get our defence in the top 3 we could run with Calgary

Which is why I am callin for him to be chucked out the door.

right, this is a problem that needs to be addressed. I still think firing him mid season would be a bad move. I think If the defence gets owned for a second weak in a row it will certainly be time for something a little more drastic, but for now if I was MOS id just be addressing this with Richie behind closed doors. I'd Start looking for a consultant... narrow down my options and see whats out there

Im not a fan of our soft zone D.. Im not a fan of Richie Hall... But .. The D only allowed 3 points all second half... If our O wasnt going 2 and out or turning the ball over in the redzone.. We come back and win. 2 picks in the endzone and a turnover on downs. If we score 3 Tds or even 2 and a FG.. This topic doesnt exist.

I read somewhere.... cant remember where, but compared it to garbage points and yards gained by an offence, Everyone likes to point out when Willy lights it up its garbge time... defence lets up and so on, well, same thing on sunday for our defence.

This is just not true. If you are in a shoot out and need a stop and the D gives it to you it's still a key stop even if the entire game wasn't a master piece.

There are lots of shades of grey in football. It's not all good or all bad, it can be good and bad mixed together. Like most sports it's less important the total numbers but more important when you make the plays.

If we had a good defence we wouldnt even need said key stop. Game shouldnt have gotten to that point in the first place

Ummm exactly when was this?  I wasn't aware we played more than one game in only a few days.

If you're talking about the 41-40 miracle, the defense had practically 0 stops, esp with their back against the wall.  We got back to back possessions in that game cuz of the onside kick recovery.

AND they have the worst offence in the league, or damn near close to it

  7.  I do think Walker has a lot of potential and Fogg is great depth because he is a great punt returner and a decent HB. Alexander does have potential as well. I wonder if the problem is that we have to rooks on one side. We just need to be patient there. I think Walker could be a great db in this league

In my opinion the biggest problem is LBer, and having Jake and Hurl in the middle of the field is bad news. Maybe if we had Mulumba we could start 2 NI DE's and have Cory Johnson in the middle.

Would love to sign Bo Lokombo for a future MAC as well

I never know if Rider fans are actually trolling of just stupid... I mean part of me wants to believe no one can be THAT stupid, but then I see tons of the saying the same things so maybe they are just dumb.

BC craps their pants after stomping the Riders one week and lets the Riders get a win and suddenly the half ******** mob thinks they're actually a good team over there. I don't want Edmonton to do any more winning but for the sake of the league maybe they need to smack the green idiots back into reality.

I personally think they are just that damn stupid. They are still a bunch of Arrogant fools even when their team is awful... I personally cant wait to see what they say after we sweep them.... again... for the second year in a row. It's going to be wildly entertaining

  9. We're going to have to get a return and get Flanders going if we're going to have a  realistic chance at this... Cole and Westerman are going to have to step it up and Shologan, Cummings and  Bass will have to be key in defending the run.

Calgary may have less points against but I think our defence man for man is better... front seven I think is a wash but our dbs are best in the league IMO.
